I took my mother here for her birthday recently(I would have chosen something a little more classy but it was her decision — got to honor the birthday girl’s wishes!). I’ll begin with the good part and that was the food was very good. Won ton soup, egg roll and my dish, the beef chow fun were all very tasty and fresh. The reason for three stars is that it seems like anybody that takes your order doesn’t always pay attention to what you’re ordering. I first ordered a glass of red wine but they brought out white instead. No big deal. It was already poured so why let alcohol go to waste, right? Ok so then I ordered the fried rice with my meal but they brought out white rice. Since it was the second error I sent it back and requested my fried rice, which came out right away. My mom ordered a side of lo mein, but it didn’t come out until she asked a second time for it. Seems like too many screw ups for one dinner so I opted to give three stars. Perhaps I’ll return one day to see if they were just having an off night.

Review based purely on the food as we ordered take-out for an office lunch meeting. I ordered the lunch special of chicken lo-mein with fried rice. The lo-mein was flavorless, but had a decent amount of chicken in it. The fried rice was very dry and bland. The portion was large for a lunch special. As far as Chinese food, I’ve had much better and with literally hundreds of options I see no reason why I would return here. Oh, and the fortune cookies were horrible, they didn’t contain any fortunes, just quotes from the movie Kung-fu panda.

I have eaten here over a hundred times. Best Chinese food I have ever had. Very good service and reasonable prices.

I come here often, yummy tasty authentic Chinese, will make or add to your order how you like it, wonton soup is the best around, pork is tender, egg rolls crisp, ribs meaty, what can I say. Very inexpensive.

My family goes here a lot and has always raved about this local, family run restaurant. Well today was my first visit along with a number of family members. The older folks got dinner specials. These seemed a notch above standard Chinese restaurant fare. Wife and I ordered off the«Chinese» menu as was recommended in a prior review. Szechuan shredded pork was excellent and Szechuan string beans were outstanding. The wait staff went out of their way to be helpful especially to the older folks. This was a very pleasant experience overall and I would not hesitate to return. Again, if you are an experienced Chinese foodie: ask for the Chinese menu.

This was my first time at the restaurant. The place was dirty with food under my table. The soup was bland like dishwater. The rice was sticky and the food was extremely salty and bland as well. The chicken was mushy and the tea had a funny taste. I usually will eat anything. not this. :(

We came here after reading the top review, expecting to ask for an authentic menu and authentic Szechuan food. We drive out there and find out that it’s a Taiwanese menu from a Taiwanese chef… alight we’ll bite– why not? The staff is friendly, and one of the dishes we got(green beans) were good and the portions are huge… but not worth the drive we made.

I loved this place for many years. It’s one of the few places that I know that is family owned and know me by name. The food has always been consistently great. Their Egg Drop soup is the best!

I came here with my father for dinner. We used to come here on a regular until the food quality went down over the past year or so. Not sure what happened, but our dinner tonight was below par. We both had the Shrimp and vegg with Wonton Soup. The wontons in the soup were hard and not good. The fried rice was undercooked and salty. The main course was FULL of globs of cornstarch. It was so salty and drenched with starch. Horrible. I didn’t even finish the dish. I don’t know what happened here, as this was the best place around for good Chinese food. The service is still good though and the prices remain reasonable.

Awful food– inedible Chinese. Horrible general tsos chicken– syrupy like molasses. No spice or heat. Greasy and gross. Shrimp lo mein– yuck. Decent egg roll and egg drop corn soup. Fantastically pleasant delivery man but no amount of good service could make up for quality of food.

This place is delicious. Their food has gotten better and better over time. There is a large elderly community who go to dinner almost everyday here it seems because the waitresses and owner of the place know them by name. I recommend you order their hot and sour soup. It was delicious!

Their chilli beef is out of this world but only for the more adventurous.

Had the hot and sour soup, it was like grease from the bottom of the pan. The Sze-chuan triple was awful, greasy, boiled looking meat, unseasoned fried rice. The food was terrible, and if that had been my first expereince with chinese food, it would have been my last.

I’m really not too big a fan of local Chinese restaurants because as far as I’m concerned, most if not all, taste the same. I don’t know if they all have EXACTLY the same recipe or, if they all just happen to recieve all of their foodstuffs from the same place(probably the latter). However, just two lights west of University and Oakland there sits a local mom & pop Chinese restaurant that I think has a lot to offer than the average szechuan restaurant. The dining area may not seem big from the outside put inside it definitely is very spacious and accomodating whether it’s just two people or a family of 8, there’s bound to be a table to accomodate. The interior is clean, inviting and warm. The food is, without a doubt, the star of the show. My wife and I have been here twice already and each time we’ve ordered different dishes and both times they were delicious. The best dishes are part of their«All Night Early Bird Dinners,» ranging from $ 9-$ 12, these are by far the main dishes that most customers order. The main reason that the vast majority of customers opt for the«All Night Early Birds» is that you actually get a 4 course meal: the dish(with either fried rice or white rice or lo mein), soup, eggroll or wings or salad, and a dessert. That is not to say that these are Sze-Chuan Panda’s only dishes, no sir, they offer a full array of appetizers, soups, specialties, duck, vegetarian, chop suey, fried rice, beef, pork, chicken, chow mein and fried rice dishes as well at their Early Bird Dinners. The only gripe that I have with Sze-Chuan Panda is that their takeout waiting area is waaaay too small. A lot of people like to walk-in, order take out and wait, the only thing is that they waiting area is right next to the entrance right in front of the register, so you can imagine trying to walk around waiting patrons while trying to enter or trying to pay your bill. On the plus side, I have never experienced Sze-Chuan Panda to be overly packed, very busy but, never too packed. If you haven’t tried a decent Chinese restaurant in the Sunrise area, then give Sze-Chuan Panda a try; it isn’t gourmet Chinese food so don’t go there expecting to be blown away but, in my humble opinion, it its definity one of the better local Chinese restaurants that I’ve gone to.
