Awful on Friday night! Wow … come on guys … you can do better Indian food if a beginner Cooked it. Sambar too thick, dahi too thin, dosa bland. I wanted to like it, tried to like it, but it was not possible. Maybe on other days, or lunch it’s a different story but that night it was bad.

The lunch buffet is excellent. Lots of variety — nice salad bar with pickles and chutneys, excellent appetizers with samosas and doklas and lots of main dishes — egg biryani, Tandoori chicken, butter chicken, potatoes and broccoli, Dal, sambhar, etc. All the food we tried was good. The only thing preventing a 4 star rating was the service which was poor and slow. No one to greet you or seat you. We waited at the front when we came in. Some guy sitting at a table in the front finally looked up and said«Sit anywhere». That’s when we realized he was the owner or manager. He was busy writing something. Perhaps the next neo-existentialist Indian novel. There were 2 waiters who showed up after a while to get us water. Never tried up selling us drinks. Ah well, they must be able to live without tips.

I have been to Coriander twice for their buffet lunch and have been happily pleased both times. They have a nice variety of dishes at the buffet– including lamb, chicken, vegetables, and beef, all well-seasoned and packed full of a plethora of flavours. Also honest to G-d real pickle, and a nice selection of chutneys to add to your flavourful meal. I’m so happy they’re in our neighborhood!

Okayish food! Just changing the name of restaurant wont help you succeed in long run. Good buffet selection. but dinner items are no that good. Too much cream and spice makes the taste of gravy same for all dish. Please reduce that in order to make the taste more authentic.

Chilli powder is probably a better name for this place. They need to understand that«spicy» doesn’t mean dumping an unbearable amount of chilli powder; that’s coming from an Indian! Their naan is soggy and their curries just taste like a generic mix of masala powder and chilies. I guess I need to travel way up north for authentic Indian food.

DON’T COMEHEREIFYOUWANTBADFOOD! After eating at another Indian cuisine place for the past few months, my wife and I tried this place. This is absolutely hands down the best Indian food I have ever had. The chicken tikka marsala was full of flavor, the chicken was tender and the heat was just right. I got the«medium» amount of heat and it was enough to wake the senses, but not enough to overpower the flavor. The garlic naan was amazing. They use fresh garlic and a lot of it. Luckily for my wife and I we love garlic! So. Good. This place is a must try! We are definitely going to be regulars here and we can’t wait to come to the $ 8.99 all you can eat lunch buffet.

Hands down my favorite Indian restaurant in Austin! Even Husbae loves it! I love Curry Leaf as well, but because this restaurant isn’t exclusively Vegetarian, I feel that Royal India has richer, deeper, more American-palette suited flavors. This doesn’t mean Americanized, by any means, it just means that there are more great flavors for us to latch on to, in addition to the fantastic Indian spices! I’ve been for, both, the lunch buffet, and order-in/take-out. Delicious! **Lunch Buffet: 10⁄10!** Great variety of Indian dishes, as well as the most delicious meatballs! They have some staples that stay the same every day on their buffet, and then they have things that change. You may not always get Butter Chicken, but something else that is equally delicious will be in its spot, such as Chicken Tikka Masala! Chicken biryani is always available, as is saag paneer, naan, aloo gobi, daal, chicken biryani, chicken tandoori, and samosas! They even have fantastic desserts. **Service: 10⁄10!** They’ve always been nice when I go, and they’re the sort of servers that will bother you only they feel you need something or if something looks terribly wrong. The manager isn’t checking on people, and they’re not asking how you’re doing every time you take a bite of food. It’s fantastic! **Take Out: 10⁄10!** You can call in or place an order online for pick up! The food is always hot and has the same quality as if you would have eaten in the restaurant!

These other bad reviews seem like BS. We just came and used the groupon. Food was great, service was good, the owner came and said hi and was extremely friendly. The only reason i gave it 4 stars is because I eat a ton of indian food and hold them all to a high standard. Would recommend and will be back!

I had the veggie combo for one(takeout). After 3 days in Austin I needed a break from BBQ and this was the ticket. There was a bunch of items included and they were excellent. This could easily feed two. Highly recommended!

For the price, speed(always ready very quickly), location, service(everyone is very nice and helpful) & consistent quality, etc. this is the best Indian I have found in Austin, so far. We almost always do takeaway, but the twice I have eaten in the restaurant all of these held true. The restaurant was clean, well decorated & noise level pleasant(not awkward quiet, not too loud). Another plus — lots of easy parking. My boyfriend and I always get the Palak Paneer & Butter Chicken — both are excellent. We occasionally try other dishes, but these two remain our favorites. This is not a super high-end swanky Indian restaurant, but for what it does, it does exceptionally well.

Food was delicious. I came here for my birthday dinner on a Groupon and ordered the Veggie Sampler Dinner. It was DELICIOUS! The fried portion of the meal came out first then the rest shortly after. I was pleased that after realizing I forgot to choose which dessert(they had already picked the rice pudding for me) I had really wanted the gulab jaman. The server was nice enough to give me both at no extra charge. I didn’t give these guys 5 stars because, well, let me tell you. I asked for a box to-go because there was no way I was finishing all this food myself in one sitting… The man walks and helps another table… goes to the front counter to do something else… the entire time I’m staring at the to-go boxes right through the doorway of the kitchen wondering when the hell he’s bringing me my boxes. I sat… waited… saw the man go behind the bar(I thought he was getting the new table their drinks first… wtf?)… oh no, even worse… I see the server in the mirror of the bar DRINKINGBEER… I’m sure it wasn’t APPLEJUICE and he wouldn’t be trying to hide it, facing the wall in the corner thinking no one can see him. Hello… there are mirrors behind the bars and I’m sitting right there staring you down waiting for my boxes… I didn’t say anything because I wanted to get my food, check and go home to have the rest of my birthday evening in peace. Honestly, I would still go back and eat here ONLYFORTAKE-OUT… and the only reason I sat down to eat was because of the Groupon. BTW, I was here only 15 minutes after they opened for dinner on a Tuesday — so it’s not like they were super busy. I heard another table with a single man sitting behind me ask for his check several times… then what appeared to be the owner came and took his credit card before even bringing the check(I heard the server go back to the table and patron tell him«oh he took my credit card»)… so something isn’t right about the service there at the tables…

As the saying goes. I only gave this place one star because I couldn’t give it zero. My friends and I were looking for some food close by before our flight out of AUS Bergstrom, after some light searching this place was suggested. We ordered the biryani and butter chicken. Biryani first came out super spicy even for us. They took it back to the kitchen and calmed it down. It was chicken biryani and the chicken inside was like rubber you couldn’t even chew it… The butter chicken was blan and the chicken inside it had a little better consistency than the biryani chicken however it was cut up like fajita meat. I’m no expert in Indian food, however I’ve had better Indian food cooked by white folks. I asked where the chef was from they said Punjab. Perhaps he is a good cook. Our food came out super fast … I noticed we just missed the buffet cutoff. Had me thinking we got served what they didn’t want to throw away. I was not going to write a review because their service was good but I just landed in Vegas and my stomach has been killing me this entire flight. When I text my friends that I landed I learned they too are having indigestion problems…

My companion is a slow a** eater in general, but here he scarfed down his food. He looked like the cookie(veggie?) monster eating the pakoda. Crumbs and all. I had paneer khandati(I might have spelled that wrong), it was a nice tomato-buttery dish, which I plopped on top of basmati rice and ate with roti bread. I recommend going for the naan instead. I’m not a fan of roti in general, and today wasn’t any different. I’m sure if you like roti you’ll like it. Naan is just NAAAAAAAAAN. A nice fluffy cloud of carbs. Ok… Companion had a goat curry dish. He said it was good. Drank their mango lassi– not too sweet, which is good. Staff was professional and polite. Just know to pay up front! This is Northern Indian food, just in case you know the difference between regions. No picture of food, I apologize. It was inhaled by the pakoda monster.

I went in not expecting to like this place, and came out a fan. The décor isn’t anything to really write home about, but the service was unobtrusive, and the food was great! The place was pretty slow, but I’m not complaining; everything I wanted came out in a very timely manner, and they made sure to keep my wine and water glasses full. I’m guessing they’re popular with delivery services as I kept seeing various drivers with massive stacks of to-go boxes exiting the building throughout the night. I eat a lot of Indian food, and I’d say this one is definitely up there. It’s the fanciest, but the spices(the most important part to me) are on point.

Just woohoo, this review is for their weekday lunch buffet, and it was as good as it gets(just like the 5 star rating states). Quite a variety of veggie and meat options presented beautifully on their buffet. They had most of the usual suspects(chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, naan, aloo gobi, daal, chicken biryani, chicken tandoori, samosas, etc.). What I was impressed with was the sheer variety of options and the overall quality of the food and pleasant presentation. I have eaten at nearly every Indian buffet in town, and this is probably my new favorite. And $ 9.99 is an absolute steal for lunch here. Also, don’t pass up their iced tea, it was truly superb and had a nice hint of cinnamon or something that made me ask for a to go cup, which I never do normally do. Just go there if you like Indian food, buffets, or better yet both.

I had my first sit-in dinner at Royal India last week to celebrate my friends promotion. Before I comment on the food I just want to compliment the owners on keeping a visually appealing restaurant, the décor is very nice. I would easily recommend Royal India for a nice date. My order Samosas: 5⁄5 love these! I had to resist ordering some to-go as well. Royal Feast for Two: 3⁄5 The waiter recommended I give this a try because it had a little bit of everything– Tandoori Chicken, Salmon Tikka, Ajwahni Jhinga, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Bhuna, Saag Paneer, Pilaf Rice, and onion Kulcha. I really like the idea of the royal feast but it just was not for my palette. The Lamb Bhuna and Onion Kulcha were not my favorites. and the Tosi-tosa salad was just okay. Next time I will just order direct from the main menu, or even give their Lunch buffet a try one weekend.

Best Indian close to central Austin in my opinion. The restaurant is quite classy and nice, the weekend lunch buffet is outstanding. Some dishes, like the dal, really reminded me of home. I will be back — with or without a groupon!

Ate at Royal India twice, both having a LivingSocial voucher. I tried the north and the south Austin location and both restaurants presented me with delicious and authentic food. Started with the Garlic Naan. Heard it was pretty good and I definitely agree. Not only was the bread hot with crispy edges, the flavor of the garlic wasn’t too strong but definitely evident and tasty. The Garlic Naan at the south location tasted a tad strange and wasn’t as flavorful as the one in the north location, but that may just be an anomaly. My entrée was the Dhaba Mutton Curry. You can’t say no to bone-in goat. I try to eat different things at restaurants, but after loving it the first time, I had to get it again. The bone-in goat meat is truly tender with occasional pieces of fat. You can really separate the pieces with a spoon. The curry sauce is delicious with just the right consistency to bind with the rice. This dish opened my eyes to the world of goat meat. Seriously. So good. The entrée also came with saag paneer(similar to creamed spinach). I don’t often rant about vegetables, but this stuff is super delicious. Mix it in with the rice or just eat it by itself, I just can’t have enough of it. Can we get endless refills on this? I wanted to ask our waiter, but wimped out. There is an issue with their service though. In the south Austin location, there were only 4 tables with customers, including mine. However, the service was especially slow, specifically after the meal. After showing the waiter our voucher, he put it back down on the table and left. 15 minutes would then go by until they took our voucher again and returned with our check. That’s 15 minutes of my party and me aimlessly chatting and glancing around the restaurant. In a near-empty restaurant, speed of service was the last thing I expected to encounter. Other than that, the staff was very friendly and our water glasses were always full.
