Sorry, the rooms are fairly nice for a small motel but management decided to more than negate this by making a mistake(which I can deal with) but decided to be extremely rude and incompetent rather than being polite and moving on and turning what should’ve been a small issue into a big ordeal. Had booked a room for 6 nights at this location bc everything in Cherokee was booked up at the time. On the 4th day of the stay me and my friend were able to find a comped room for 2 nights near Cherokee so we attempted to check out early here. Front desk told us that we had to contact in order to checkout early. Tried calling two different times and sat on hold 30 minutes each time so just decided to keep the room bc we needed a room for the 6th night anyway. So fast forward to this afternoon, we had checked out of the room in Cherokee and I head over to the Blue Ridge to drop off my bags, my friend went straight to the casino so it was just me. After about 5 – 10 minutes in the room while using the bathroom I hear a pounding on the door, I scramble to answer it and find two of the managers there immediately berating me asking what I’m doing in the room. Explained we never officially checked out and still had a day left on the room. They tell me that the room has been checked out and the card has been refunded. I explain that we were never made aware of this and at first they seem somewhat understanding and say«ok fine you can just go the lobby and re-checkin». I said no I’ll just leave and they start getting upset bc they think I should have to pay for 10 minutes use of the room, lol at that ever happening. I ask them to give me 2 minutes to finish up in the bathroom and essentially have to close the door in the faces bc apparently that is too much to ask for. So I do leave the room 2 minutes later, load my stuff back into the car, the managers walk up to me, and I try to diffuse the situation again. I say I’m sorry for the misunderstanding but we had no way of knowing that we were checked out. The female manager proceeds to be extremely rude and refuses to have a logical conversation of any sort. Apparently we are supposed to check our bank statements every single day just in case something like this happens. According to her once they never heard back from they just decided to refund the debit card and the problem was solved on their end. Nope, not their fault at all for not contacting the person and letting them know they had gone ahead and checked us out and refunded the last 3 days. Why call someone if you can simply assume that someone checks their bank statement everyday and puts 2 and 2 together, yea makes sense… She also proceeds to berate me for still having my room key, why would I return it if I was still under the assumption we had the room? I was then told the room had been rented out and asked what would happen if someone was in the room. Let’s see where to start with that one… 1) why on earth is my room key still working if the room had been rented out to someone else, seems like yet another pretty big error on their part 2) I told them yes it would be bad, and it would 100% be the motel’s fault if that occurred. After about 5 minutes of enduring the lady’s nonsense, literally the crux of what she had to say was repeatedly saying it was my fault for not checking online banking, I finally tell her this conversation is a waste of time and I’m done. As I walk away she continues to yell about she is right. Honestly top 5 worst attitude I’ve ever experienced from any employee of a business in my life, and I’ve dealt with a multitude of rude and nasty people in my lifetime. This could’ve been such a nonissue, yes they should’ve notified us, but I still understood that it was ultimately a misunderstanding. Instead of acting normal and apologizing for the misunderstanding or at least saying something like«it’s ok I understand, let’s just move on, have a good day etc.». The lady decides to berate me instead bc she has to be right, she has to assert that they did nothing wrong, that we did everything wrong, which is hilarious bc quite frankly they screwed up really big(even before the argument started). And instead of acting like a rational person and using common sense she chose to act like a lunatic and now this review exists. I will never be staying here again, I will tell every single person I know who comes to Cherokee(which is a fair amount of people) to never stay here, hope it was worth it lady…

Love staying at the Blue Ridge Inn. The pictures is how the room looks. We will definitely stay here again when in town.

It’s too bad the only review for this hotel on Unilocal is old and written by someone who has only ever written one review. This is a solid hotel that is currently undergoing a complete renovation. The reception area is clean and well lit. The young lady working the front desk when we checked in at 9pm was very pleasant and inquired about our stay, and based on what we told her gave us some tips about getting around. Our renovated room — a queen/queen — was spacious, well appointed, and clean. For a place called the Blue Ridge Inn I would even say it is stylish. Flat screen TV, microwave, minifridge, coffee maker, desk with nice rolling chair, rocking chairs outside for smoking or to enjoy the mountain air. My teenage daughter, who is very particular about these things, marveled that the shower pressure was so much better than at home and it made her hair so clean and soft. No better endorsement of the shower area than that. The location of the hotel at the end of Main Street in downtown Sylva — at the foot of the Jackson County Courthouse hill — makes it the perfect location to explore downtown or make a short drive over to Western Carolina University. I see no reason to pay more at one of the other hotels in this area.

If you’re looking for a motel with barely functioning electrical outlets, no guest a amenities provided, and an overall terrible experience, the Blue Ridge Inn is the place for you! Asking for new light bulb replacements and being greeted by a sub-freezing degree room will make this an experience you’ll never forget! Over-priced, miniature-sized rooms combine to make you question«four people are supposed to fit in here???»
