Food was much better than I anticipated. I had the blackened mahi sandwich and it was awesome. Others in my party had steamers(large yet tender and not overlooked) haddock sandwich was huge and very good as was the harpoon burger. Overall excellent food and drink selection not to mention the beach view. Service was a little slow but it is Labor Day Sunday and all of the college help is done for the season. I will definitely be back.

Ok the food is mediocre but the view makes it worth it. Great drinks and the atmosphere makes you feel like you are someplace tropical. One of my favorite summer places!

Great music, great venue, best liquor selection in Sylvan Beach. My only gripe is they batter their chicken ahead of time(in the morning) and fry it up on demand which makes for a doughy mushy breading even when fried extra crispy. The taste is great but the texture is a little strange. The chicken was greasier than I expected as well as the fries on another visit. They use to have the best chicken(pre 2015) in the area but ever since they started this shortcut it’s ruined it for me, we would literally order chicken here at least 3 times during our week stay but after getting soggy breading we didn’t order again that week. Stay for the drink, music, and non fried items.

Have not been to Harpoon in years, we decided to go last week for chicken wings which was they where very very good. their where 4 of us and we all ordered 50 cent wings our bill was 120 dollars I guess they have to make it up with drinks. 21 dollars a pop for a pitcher of beer and 12 dollars for a mixed drink is a little outrageous. yes I am a local and now I know why we don’t go there often

This is the first time I have been to Sylvan Beach in a few yrs. lots of restaurants closed and buildings for sale. Kind of reminded me that the Village looks like it might be going out of business. ! Every building and restaurant looked old and dated. Harpoon Eddies is a typical local bar with a beach flair. It has a pretty good size deck to hangout on and have a cocktail watch the sunset. I would say of the few bars/restaurants at the beach. This is probably the best. It has the typical bar/pub food menu as most also features so live music in the deck weekends and on a couple weekday evenings. Personally I would not dine here other than to grab a cold beverage and hang out on the deck. Maybe grab a bar appetizer if the urge strikes but thats about it.

Very overpriced and my sandwich was mediocre at best, but the fried cheddar broccoli was delicious, just a very small portion. It took over 40 minutes for our food to arrive. I won’t go there again.

Fun atmosphere, good live music. Good appetizers, and a nice variety of entries. Steamed clams are always a winner and the clams, sausage and roasted peppers are great, they can be ordered as an app or over pasta for an entrée.

We cruised out on a Saturday afternoon about 4:30 pm, looking for a bite by the water. There was a beach volley ball game ending when we arrived, but there were a number of open tables available. We waited for the hostess to take care of T-shirt sales and were then seated on the deck. I had asked for a table in the sun as it was breezy and a slight chill was in the air, but was ignored and we were seated in the shade. No time to protest or make a different request as the music was loud on the deck and the hostess quickly left in the other direction. Another couple had come in behind us and they were seated in the sun. After about 10 – 15 minutes a waitress came by and said she would«be right with us». In the meantime, the other couple had been served their drinks by another waitress. Another 10 – 15 minutes and no sign of our waitress, but the other couple had theirs and was placing their order. Waited another 10 minutes and without a drink, waitress, or order in, we got up and left. Never again.

Food took forever to come out! Drinks are the size of kid meal drinks. Atmosphere is decent and view of the lake is pretty good. Shrimp po boy is a good choice. The wings were decent but not great and fries are delicious!

Had great service with a friendly bartender! We only had the steamed clams but they were terrific! Beer selection was okay but the view makes up for that!

Haha this place is a joke. When entering they asked for my ID. I handed them a government ID(NYS drivers license) and they asked do see a debit or credit card with the same name on it. That is ridiculous that puts you at risk for identity theft. Never show those two things. This place is run like a joke you have an ID for a reason. You should never have to provide anything more than that… oh wait unless u have incompetent employees like the staff that work here.

We took a bike ride to Sylvan on a Tuesday evening, bike night in the area. It was a tad bit windy and that’s why the strip wasn’t busy. So we stopped at Harpoon Eddies and just before we walked into the restaurant a few ppl were walking out and i asked what is good to order, they suggested the breaded wings, and sandwich’s and seafood(of course). As we walked in we were greeted by our waitress who sat us down at a nice table with a window few of the lake. NICEVIEW, the sun was just lowering for the evening. After being seated our waitress asked promptly what we would like to drink, and they arrived very quickly. We ordered the breaded chicken wings-mild as a app. For dinner, I order the turkey panni and my boyfriend ordered the southwest chicken sandwich. The wings came out about 20 mins later and they were delish! Huge wings, and not to much breading. If you like your wings a bit crispy — you might wanna ask for that when you order(we will next time). Our dinner came out shortly and both of our sandwich’s we very good! GREATSERVICE, GREATVIEW and GREATFOOD! We will be returning again on a week night soon!!!

Had a great pork/beef/banana pepper hybrid sandwich here. Good enough view that I could pretend for a second I wasn’t stuck in fuckin’ Central New York, beers were three bucks. No complaints.

We’ve had nothing but bad experiences there this summer. It’s usually down to waiting forever for service and the food tasting mediocre at best(we loved this place last summer, don’t know what changed), but it’s usually bearable. Here’s the experience that completely turned us off to this place. Doubt we’ll be going back there for a while. Keep in mind this is all while the place was barely busy. Half the patio was empty. Being busy isn’t much of an excuse when last summer I had better service despite the place being packed. Took 10 minutes for someone to come take our food and drink order. Waited 25 minutes before the waitress came back and told us she lost our order. We had to repeat everything. Somewhere in that wait, went up to the bar to get waters and the bartender immediately got our drinks. Don’t know how it took the waitress so long to get drinks. Another 10 minutes before drinks arrived(two waters and two lemonades, not that difficult). 40 minutes of more waiting around before our food finally arrived. Riggies and burgers were undercooked, onion blades overcooked, and the fries tasted old. Ran out of sauce for the onion blades, waitress took 20 minutes to come back with more(bus boy stopped by after 10 minutes to ask if everything was okay, he got more sauce immediately, once again don’t see why it’d take the waitress that long). Waitress brought the bill back with the sauce we asked for, but ran off before we could give her our card to pay it off then and there to avoid another wait, so we had to wait once again for her to come back for the payment, and then again 5 more minutes for the receipt to sign. The only thing this place really has going for it right now is that you can sit outside on the beach, listen to decent music, and watch the sun set while you’re eating. The prices aren’t too bad, either. But I’m a big fan off good service and this is something that Harpoon Eddies certainly doesn’t get to brag about.

Harpoon’s is back up and running after the fire last year — same food, same ambiance, nice to see them back on the Beach!

Harpoon’s is one of my favorite places to hang out down in Sylvan Beach. This place is right on the water and has direct access to the beach. Because of such, it is one of the more popular spots in the area. The place is pretty much a beach bar that doubles as a restaurant. The menu is a little bit more upscale than traditional bar food and actually features some of the best Chicken Riggies and Utica Greens on the beach. They feature live music or a DJ often and is just a great place to hang for the afternoon. Harpoon’s had a fire right before Labor Day in 2010 and had to close for the season early. However, they are expected to re-open by Memorial Day 2011. We will definitely be there when they open back up for the summer.

A step above bar food. The pasta bowl was good. The key lime pie looked like it came from a box and had a florescent green sauce. Not so good. A bit of confusion over draft versus bottled beer on our waitress’ part. The star of the meal is the view from the balcony around sunset. I think they don’t listen too hard to requests for umbrellas at dinner time since they probably know that people will be hollering for them to be downed at sunset.
