Whenever I go to syracuse I like to visit this restaurant. We always ask for the same waiter(unfortunately his name escapes me, not one of the kids sporting man buns). Service is excellent. We always get the steaky bacon appetizer which is pork belly served with a spicy dipping sauce and little rolls. So delicious! I get the strip steak which is delicious and tender. My daughter tries various items such as pad thai or pan seared scallops. Everything is very good. They have an interesting dessert selection. They have a good wine selection which includes a very nice reisling that was limited to 100 cases of which the restaurant bought 50. The restaurant is a little on the pricy side for me but well worth the splurge!

If I could rate this place a 4 ½ I would. I would absolutely return here, just needs to be an occasion worth spending over $ 100 for two people. I made a reservation for my girlfriend and I, and we were seated immediately to what seemed like a busy night. The reason this place is. It a 5, is because of the service. Although our waitress was very nice, I want to say it took about 20 – 35 minutes to place our full order, including apps. We finished our meal after spending about 2 hours, maybe receiving our food 20 minutes before we left, to include 10 minutes to get our bill and pay it. Fortunately we were on a date and had a lot to talk about. I think the steakhouse/tai mix is incredible, there are so many dishes to satisfy any craving you have! We did the appetizer trio which was a taste of everything the restaurant offers. Well marinated pork/steak slices, beef in curry, and a lobster mixture I can’t really detail, I just know it was really good! Be ready to pay $ 30 for it though. I hade the rib eye, added scallops, and it came with mash potatoes. My mouth is watering just tuning about how good it was. $ 40 My GF really enjoyed her garlic shrimp. $ 30 She had two glasses of wine, and I had two jack and cokes. $ 34 If you don’t want a lot of coke, ask for short glasses. I got probably 12 ounces of coke and an average 1oz whiskey. Our total was $ 150. Really really good place, pricy, might have to wait a bit.

The food was good, but I honestly can’t remember much about the meal because I was so distracted by the awful service. For a couple who spent over $ 100 on oysters, entrees, cocktails and deserts we were treated to a very rude and absent server. We were made to feel like we were inconveniencing her for dining there. I will never return.

Very very average place. With the same price you can get better dishes even at the Cheesecake Factory, not even mention to compare with all the good ones out in Manhattan. The steak was old and hard to chew, which I only finished one third of it. The signature chocolate mousse cake was like the dessert I made when I was five. The only relatively nice thing about this dinner experience was the coconut shrimp. Not too impressive but definitely better then the steak and cake. Three stars for the environment and service.

This was my second time at the restaurant. Since I come to Syracuse on business and I am alone, I sit at the bar. Melissa was GREAT! I asked her to modify one of the drinks and it was delicious. I was a bit indecisive about what to order since the menu had so many great options. Everything Melissa suggested was yummy and she even made an excellent wine pairing.

Another outstanding experience at Bistro Elephant Steakhouse. Moonshell oysters from Maine were outstanding and immense! Bartender was terrific and coconut shrimp were also great. Never a let down always walk away impressed with their food.

I normally won’t give bad reviews, but my experience at this restaurant was so underwhelming that I felt it necessary to issue a warning. For the prices you are paying, you would expect better quality food and service, but my experience provided neither. I ordered the Kobe steak, one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. What I received was either not authentic Kobe or was of such bad quality that it never should have been sold as such. My steak was chewy and full of rubbery fat; certainly not the melt-in-your-mouth buttery marbled goodness I’ve come to expect from Kobe. And while I am a huge fan of rare meat, this steak was served to me practically raw. It was inedible and so undercooked that when I showed the waiter, I didn’t even have to say anything before he began apologizing. That brings me to our waiter, Russell. He was without a doubt the most inattentive waiter I’ve ever had. I took into account that it was a busy night, but to disappear for 28 minutes after bringing someone the dessert menu? And that wasn’t the first time. He essentially ignored our table for most of the night. Our tab was $ 135 and I felt raped. I love fine dining and have shelled out way more than that at restaurants and walked away feeling content… not this time. The bar was a mess; glasses just piling up at the end… it’s as though no one cared what the restaurant looked like. That’s fine for a fast food joint, but if you’re going to charge $ 38 for a tiny piece of meat and a scoop of mashed potatoes, you need to up your game. The service and quality of food left much to be desired. Maybe it was just a bad night, but I know I’d never go back.

We stopped at Bistro Elephant on our way home from Vermont based on reviews here. It did not disappoint. Arriving at almost 8PM on a Saturday, we were surprised to be seated immediately. Must have timed it right, as tables were filled the rest of our time there. Ambience is much to our liking. Two gentlemen were playing mellow jazz. It is not a large place. There is a busy bar with seating and then a row of tables against two walls. Service was very good. Grilled calamari with a mildly spicy chili sauce with peanuts and cilantro was delicious. For entrée, I had rib eye steak, cooked perfectly, with mashed potatoes. Steak doesn’t get any better! Carol had a Thai curry dish that was excellent as well(the restaurant is paired with a Thai restaurant — Lemon a Grass — they share a kitchen). They have an extensive wine, beer and other alcoholic drink menu. The Zin by the glass was nice; Carol enjoyed her Cosmo. We would come back!

I am giving this 3 stars even though I have not gone there. First thing I must say is invest in a website from Bistro Elephant or have a separate page on the Lemongrasscny site. I had to call to find out about the Bistro and what do you know, the girl who answered it had no idea how to navigate to the Bistro information. I will be going there next week and I truly hope that i can revise this review.

My dad and I came here to celebrate my 20th birthday. We had the most delicious appetizer and meal, the service was top notch, and our server Daniel was so friendly and knowledgeable about the food :). Would definitely come again.

Service was HORRIBLE, if you are seated in Nevin’s area MOVE. My Kobe beef filet came out cold and disgusting. It was exchanged for a filet with no extra charge but it took over two hours for us to get our food in the first place. I ordered a glass of wine and it took 30 mins for it to come so that was also compt. When it came time for the check we each put our own cards in SEPARATE holders and I was somehow charged for my friends and we were both then forced to be charged again for what we actually ordered and have to wait 72 hours for our cards to be refunded for what THEY messed up. HORRIBLE. Two stars is because they desert was fantastic. Happy damn 21st birthday to me.

Very close to the Jefferson Clinton and not busy on a Monday night. Food was good, service was okay. Stick with beer/wine, not the best martini bartender. Dessert was a disappointment– ice cream was freezer burned and when mentioned to the manager, he said«sorry you didn’t like it». No offer to replace or credit the bill. No rush to return here with so many other choices within walking distance.

Had to say, almost best in Cuse! Have hundreds of good wine, dessert here. Strongly recommend red ballon, and banana crime brûlée! Besides, Kobe beef appetizer, and Kobe beef, dry aged New York strip are also pretty good. The steak are always a little bit over cooked everytime when I ordered medium rare(compared to CUT, etc), but still not bad.

Amazing. I can’t even describe it. The waiter was professional and kind. The food was impeccable. The desserts were out of this world amazing. I’m in love.

A strange combination place, this restaurant houses both the titular steakhouse and Lemongrass, a Thai restaurant. I can comment only on the«steak» portion of the place, and say that it is, for the value, a great meal. 4 of us came here on a Friday night for a steak-and-single-malt type of evening, and we were not disappointed. The dry-aged steaks are priced about 5 – 8 bucks below what you’d expect to pay for prime-grade, 60-day aged steaks, and they’re worth every cent. Service is punctual, well-informed and polite, and their selection of single malts and blended whiskeys is entirely satisfactory. On the whole, if you are looking for a well-heeled evening in Armory Square, this is your first choice of destination.

Preliminary review of just the dessert: probably one of the most creative and delicious sweets I’ve ever consumed. I came here and sat at the bar on a Friday night and was impressed with the atmosphere and felt slightly under dressed. A jazz duo was playing up front and a few finely dressed people were wrapping up their meals: looked like mostly couples out on dates. At the bar, I asked for the dessert menu and ordered a cup of tea and the hilarious gay bartender recommended the«the lost slipper.» Not 5 minutes later, came out a heel that was 100% edible. Oh snap! Home made blueberry ice cream, dark chocolate and even an edible flower was among the considerations. The dessert was profoundly delicious and an equally great joy to look at and show off. I would have the utmost faith in the creativity of the chef and staff at Bistro Elephant for an elegant celebratory occasion and a delicious meal and can’t wait to come back and try it one of these days.

Upon venturing out for our usual Saturday night dinner, we realized that this restaurant had eluded us for awhile. We decided to try it and couldn’t have been happier. We began with a bottle of Syrah from California. For appetizers, we went with the Morning Roti, a steak and green curry dish, as well as Steaky Bacon, a wonderful dish with pork belly and sweet fried buns. After a perfect start to our meal, we had nothing but high expectations for our entrees. Those expectations were exceeded. I ordered the swordfish, done in their signature tamarind sauce, and she got the dry-aged steak of the day, a 14 oz NY Strip with a Bordelaise. We were FLOORED! Her steak was out of this world, and I was extremely impressed with the tamarind sauce on my fish. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great meals out lately, and I’m happy to add these to the list. The real treat of the evening came in the form of dessert. While just about every item on the menu looked impressive, we went with the Red Balloon, a raspberry purée frozen with liquid nitrogen over a mousse cake, which we were blown away by. I had never had anything like that in my life! Also great for an after dinner drink was the lively«Fall into NY,» a cider, honey and tequila cocktail invented by the bartender Shad. We had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back soon!

Really enjoyed my evening here. Passing through on my way home to Buffalo and sat at the bar for dinner. The bartender, Fernando, was very nice and informative. They have a lot of Thai influenced meals… which was good. Bar selection is HUGE.

Overall excellent food and fantastic service. I will definitely return. We arrived ten minutes early for our reservation and we were seated immediately. Our server was very professional but approachable enough to make us comfortable asking questions. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine selection. I am a beer aficionado and rarely drink wine, but he helped us find a wine that I really enjoyed. It paired well with our meal. Each course was timed perfectly and everything was prepared and presented in a way you’d expect for this class of restaurant. The roasted pork belly was excellent(tender, just salty enough, great chili sauce) and I could have eaten dozens of the Prig Pow Mussels. We had the CAB Ribeye and the flat iron Kobe for dinner. Both were cooked correct medium rare and seasoned perfectly. These were the best steaks we’ve had around Syracuse. The accompanying sauces were unnecessary but delicious! We split the warm chocolate cake for dessert. It was delicious, especially the homemade burnt sugar ice cream. This place is on the pricey side for Syracuse but it’s worth it. Go there for a special occasion and indulge!
