It was a Monday. The service and the meal were excellent. My only slight negative, is that the martini was weak.

They had a host at 7:45pm on a dead Monday night with only one table seated. Our table was broken. The menus where grossly dirty. After 10 mins of no one greeting us we left. If this place survives I will be shocked.

After a 45 minute wait we were finally seated. The menu has a decent selection. Our server was a bit over the top and not very attentive. Sat with empty plates on the table for over 10 minutes waiting for check, he was nowhere to be found. We had the outlaw burger, a reg burger and the reuben. Everything was ok. Nothing to rave about but not terrible.

Ordered the chicken parm and the sauce was watery and bland. Huge portion but not someplace I would give a second try.

I absolutely love Flat Iron! It has a wonderful atmosphere both inside and out with fireplaces and live music. Everything I have tried on the menu has been incredible — I recommend the potato skins with gouda as an appetizer and any of their cocktails. The new bread wth rosemary tomato sauce for dipping is perfect. Service I’ve had is great every time. A little pricier than a typical family restaurant, but the quality is far worth it. A perfect place for a date night or anniversary dinner. I’ve tried, but I honestly can’t think of anything negative about Flat Iron. Check it out soon if you haven’t already!

Food, fire, friends is the motto of The Flat Iron Grill, a casual strip-mall chophouse with a sports bar & an indoor fire pit, plus a patio & trivia nights, that takes its name from the Flat Iron Steak, also known as a top blade steak, cut from the shoulder of the cow. My wife and I headed in for the first time for lunch today. Even though it was noon on a Saturday, it was close to completely empty. It is the last Saturday before Christmas, so that could be part of it. The inside is very nice… kind of like a cross between a casual and upscale sports bar. We were sat quickly and looked over the menu. Good amount of stuff to choose from. Plenty of choices for everyine, but not an overwhelmingly large menu. Everything sounded delicious. Our server told us their specials for the day, one my wife went for, an open faced London Broil sandwich, while I went for the Jakes Outlaw burger. Our food came quickly, as there wasn’t really anyone in the place, but it was clearly fresh made. Hand made patty on my burger, fresh grilled steak on my wife’s sandwich. And everything was delicious. They have awesome fries. Battered, crispy on the outside. Tender in the inside, and perfectly seasoned. My burger was topped with pulled pork, which was a tad chewy, but tasty. My wife very much enjoyed her sandwich, which was almost just a full steak smothered in mushrooms, onions and gravy. Our server was very nice. Seemed a bit nervous, but did well. Checked on us to make sure we were set, but not constantly. Refilled our drinks without us having to ask. Portions were HUGE, by the way. My burger was under the«two handers» section of the menu, and that was appropriately titled. My wife’s sandwich was huge as well, and we were both given LARGE portions of fries and mashed potatoes. Neither of us were able to finish our meal. Appetizers are good too. They’re fresh made tots and Utica Greens are great. Beer battered bacon is AMAZING. Definitely get an order. Everything is reasonably priced. Two tasty meals we weren’t able to finish for less than $ 25. Plenty of parking in the parking lot. They were also doing a Toys for Tots event with a Santa, and I’ve seen that they’ve done other events with animal rescues(which gets major credit from me), so they seem to do a lot with the local community. I was really impressed with the place. Hope the fact that the place was empty while I was there was a coincidence, because there’s plenty of other stuff I need to try on that menu!

2nd time here but after reading all the comments while we sat and waited for our food, we were growing skeptical. However, as soon as our food came out our worries vanished into thin air. My girlfriend and I both ordered the Jake Outlaw(which I heavily recommend) and the burgers came out steaming, juicy and huge. It was definitely top 5 burgers in my life and you get an enourmous side of fries! It’s almost too much food for one person but it was fantastic. Overall a really nice experience. The hostess was a little rude however our excellent server Sean made up for it almost instantly. We came for lunch on a Monday so judging by these reviews it must get very busy on weekend nights. They do have trivia apparently on Wednesdays if that’s something you’re into but I would definitely recommend this place especially for lunch!

Went for dinner with older relatives who enjoy typical American food. This was a good choice. We were able to get a corner table for 6 where the noise level was low and we could each hear our conversation. The waiter was very attentive. He kept the table supplied with home made warm potato chips. Everyone but me enjoyed them. I thought the oil they were fried in tasted old. Food was standard steak chain fare. Steaks were served as ordered, and the meals come with choice of soup or salad and one choice of a side and vegetable of the day. The sweet potato lattice cut fries were very good as was the zucchini medley. Meal was okay. I would return, but not choose to eat here again on my own.

My wife and myself went there and the food and service was awesome. From the food and the waiter who was so energetic and so happy to share his personal stories. …great place to visit. We were celebrating our Anniversary and the chef made us two roses out of tomatoes. Wife love it and I once again thank the staff at the Flat Iron Grill. Must visit again when we are back in Syracuse, NY.

Hubby and I went for dinner a few nights ago. We started off with the beer battered bacon appetizer. I was very excited to try this. It didn’t end up doing much for me since the batter was strangely sweet and looked as though it contained coconut. A true batter would have been awesome. We both had the 16 oz ribeye medium rare. He had his with garlic mashed potatoes and the vegetable of the day. I had mine with double veggies. Our steaks came with the choice of soup or salad. I opted for homemade chicken noodle while hubs had French onion. My chicken noodle was excellent. Super chunky. Lots of chicken and big veggie chunks with bow tie pasta instead of noodles. The French onion was far too garlicky. I think it was made with garlic croutons and they just overpowered the broth. It’s hard to over spice things with me because I like a lot of flavor but this was just way too much garlic. Back to the steaks. They were perfectly cooked, extremely tender and full of flavor. The sides on the other hand were pretty lackluster. The squash, zucchini and roasted red pepper medley was overcooked. I like my veggies tender crisp not mushy. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of a box. They could of used some of the garlic from the French onion soup. Lol. So overall our steaks were awesome, although this place really needs to work on the quality and flavor of their sides. Service was awesome. The bartenders were very friendly and prompt. I will say the price point is a little high for what you get. We will be back.

Delish food! The rills n garlic butter are TD4, the steak was good and I was ever so pleasantly surprised by cranberries, nacon and catmelized pecans in my dalad with greens, asparagus, and dome great tomatos. Having the bar trivia very loud in the dining room is almost annoying. Bathroom was clean, but out of soap, and the TP! Ok, obviously a guy is buying that cuz it is useless!

Very happy with this restaurant after last night. I came here with a large group last night and it was way more than I expected. We made a reservation and they had the table ready when we arrived. The waitstaff was very friendly and patient with us. Once we were all ready to order they brought us this amazing warm Italian style loaf of garlic herd bread served with a tomato dipping sauce and herb garlic butter. Then many of the meals included a soup or a salad which I was also very excited about. So before I even got my meal my palette was dancing. I asked the server what I should get between two choices and she said the Boston haddock was the way to go. When all the meals arrived they all looked so good! Seriously wanted to try so many things. My food was very tasty and fresh. The veggies had a nice crunch and everything was well seasoned. I thought it was a little too oily, which is kind of the nature of the dish but if you look at the photo you will understand. Some others ordered pasta and you basically get a whole box it’s insane. The prices aren’t bad for all the food you get. The menu is pretty much all comforts such as steaks, burgers, pot pies, fish, pasta, salad and soup. You really can find something for everyone I think. There are a few other items on the menu I want to try so I’ll be back with a smaller party to enjoy. They also have live music and other fun specials on weekends. I believe a patio too?

My party of 7 has been waiting 75 minutes so far for our food, and this restaurant isn’t close to full. The food here is good, but it’s not worth waiting this long for. Ever. It ended up taking 90 minutes. That’s a good hour from when we ordered, because the service was slow right from the start. It took 30 minutes just to get drinks! Our server has been less than attentive as well. So far it’s taken him over 10 minutes to bring the check. I’ve been here before, but I definitely won’t be back.

In all fairness, we waited over 6 months to allow this fairly new establishment to become more adjusted, and tried lunch vs dinner. On a Tuesday at 12:25pm. the service was much better and our waitress very polite and attentive. The Utica Greens were tasty with just enough spice and very good texture. The Pasta Fagioli, while having good flavor, was surprisingly made with red kidney beans, rather than the traditional Italian or white navy bean. My lunch partner had the sliced steak over potatoes with vegetable. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. Vegetable was zucchini cooked tender and seasoned nicely. The mashed potatoes appeared to be reheated leftovers from the night before(they were somewhat dark and brown at the edges). While this was a better experience than the last, we will not be returning soon.

So the experience started out good. But did not end up well. Chicken wings were good we had the honey garlic, the best thing we ate. I had the Boston baked haddock, the texture was not very pleasant, it was drowned in butter, so the bread crumbs were mushy and the fish was slippery. It lacked flavor, it was not seasoned at all. It fish came with mashed potatoes(they were okay) and summer squash(ehhh) … My friends had the flat iron skillet, none of us would order theses again. But I would go back for apps drinks and live music out side.
