This place is terrific. Great service from Joey. The baby amarone was delicious and the sea bass cooked perfectly. The calamari app and antipasto salad are must haves. If I had more room I’m sure dessert would have been wonderful as well. Saw the pork chop going out to tables all around and people were smiling ear to ear. My boss Mike had the NY strip and said it was perfectly cooked and the basil and spices took it to a whole new level. If you’re in Syracuse make time for this place as well as some pizza from Paladino’s

Oh my! I went to dinner with three colleagues this evening. The atmosphere downstairs is perfect – we all commented on it. Subdued, out of the way, dim-but-not-dark lighting. The acoustics are great: the music is nice, but doesn’t blare. You can hear that people at other tables are talking, but you can’t hear what they’re saying. You can actually converse in normal tones and hear each other! I didn’t even get a chance to look at the menu, because as soon as I heard what the special was, I ordered THAT. Prime Sirloin in a cognac cream sauce with mammoth portobello mushrooms draped over the top. Baked potato. And one of the best(and reasonably sized) Caesar salads I’ve ever had. I had never been to Joey’s before tonight. I’d never even heard of it! But I will be back!

Quality down home Italian comfort food. That’s what this place does and they do it pretty well. This place might not be able to compete in or around New York or Boston, but for Syracuse it’s pretty good Italian food and is better than most of the other spots in the area.

Amazing best Italian food in the 315. Joeys puts Delmonico’s to shame. Been there twice now consistent. Going back next week.

Delicious! Randomly chose Joeys from Unilocal tonite and was not disappointed! The restaurant has a family feel to it and you are overcome with a variety of smells that just scream awesome! The staff was super friendly and recommended the Canneloni and it was great.

Fantastic homemade ravioli, escargot and delicious crusty bread with an amazing tomato basil dipping oil. Service was incredibly friendly and attentive. The best meal I had in Syracuse!

Wonderful dinner, higher end but also casual atmosphere, delicious food, and fantastic service from Kathy. The fresh baked bread with fresh minced garlic whipped butter was fantastic. Steak was cooked to perfection.

I came here with my family for my mom’s birthday. This is a place she had been wanting to try and we figured it was a good time to try it. We were a party of 12 so we called ahead of time and made reservations. When we got there the table was set for us and we were seated right away. For most of the meal we were by ourselves in the area by as the restaurant got fuller people had to sit near us. We don’t mind people near us but with 4 girls 5 and under with us we can get pretty rowdy quickly. We had a very attentive waitress who tried to anticipate all of our needs ahead of time and when she couldn’t she was very prompt in getting us what we need. Our orders were taken in a timely fashion and our food came out rather quickly for so many meals being ordered. I got the chicken Parmesan and it was very good. I got 2 chicken breasts and probably a good half pound of pasta. It was more than enough for dinner and a good lunch the next day. My husband got the raviolis with sausage. He enjoyed the meal greatly but didn’t feel like it was a very good portion. It was enough to keep him satisfied but not stuffed and there were no leftovers. The rest of my family seemed to enjoy their food and almost everyone had leftovers to enjoy the next day. We were able to bring in our own dessert for the evening and brought in a carrot cake that they so graciously cut and served for us. This was really the only time we felt that our waitress was slacking. It took a long time for them to cut the cake and serve it and with 4 restless little girls, things were getting a little loud at our table. The only real negative for the experience is that there is no children’s menu. They do have the ability to make chicken fingers and French fried as well as do a half order of spaghetti and meatballs for kids and that worked out well for the girls. The portions for those are also very large. Overall, it was pretty good. We enjoyed our food and had great service. If my family wanted to do another dinner there, I wouldn’t have any problem coming along.

Usually we have a good experience at Joey’s. It sure has changed for the worse since we last went there. First, when making the reservation we were required to provide a credit card. In the event we didn’t show they would charge us. Wow, that’s a new one for us. We took it in good humor since we were aware it was SU’s Parent weekend. But when we arrived 7 minutes late(for a 5PM seating) the 60 plus blonde hostess was extremely rude. Rather than say hello and welcome, she said you are late and I was just about to give your table away! REALLY!!! I have been to a lot of restaurants and have never been treated like this. 7 minutes late for a reservation and the hostess takes you to task and treats you rudely? And ironically restaurant was only half filled at the time. The waitress did her best to provide a warm welcome but frankly it was hard to get past the first, negative rude impression that was set. I think Joey’s takes on a different attitude when they think they are serving people from out of town visiting their kids going to SU. It’s too bad since my wife and I grew up in Syracuse and have been to Joey’s several times. Good food is only good when the environment is friendly and inviting. Sadly, that was not the case for our family last night

Hidden Gem Sorta. Came across this place through Unilocal a couple of years ago when looking for a nice place to eat with my son who goes to Syracuse and didn’t want to go to Franchesca’s which seemed to be the place to go when he first started here. They take reservations, the service is wonderful and the food is very very good. Prices are reasonable for what you get(side salad and pasta). Have gone back a few times and have always had a great meal.

A CNY favorite for locals and visitors for decades. This review is for Joeys downstairs as there is Pronto Joeys upstairs which is great for lunch. I have dined here many times both with a date s business associate or boss you want to impress. Hard to go wrong ordering anything on the menu. Some favorites I enjoy are Fried Calamari, Homemade Meatballs for an appetizer, Ravioli, and Seafood fra diavlo. Great wine selection by the glass or bottle. Great bar and friendly bar tenders should you like a before dinner cocktail. Service is always good. I would highly recommend you make a reservation for any day of the week when dining here as it can get pretty busy. Can’t go too far wrong dinning at Joey’s

To date, the best Italian food we’ve had in Syracuse. Tonight’s dinner featured herb encrusted lamb chops with a Chianti glaze and an excellent shrimp Milanese. Accompanied with excellent awaited vegetables and bread dinner was great and a great value.

Haven’t been to Joeys in sometime. But it was nice to see that the standards were as high as ever. I highly recommend the Tortellini Carbonara. The ambiance was also perfect. Our serve Adam was definitely top notch.

First time I’ve been to this place and I have to wonder why everyone likes it so much. The portions are large and that seems to be the way to judge how popular food is in town. I had Carbonara and by carbonara I mean scrambled eggs. The pasta without the scrambled eggs was cooked well. Other people I was there with enjoyed their food so I’m going to give it 2 stars since everyone else enjoyed their meals. Generally for me just an indifferent experience

We went here for our most recent date night. We had tried the upstairs once and had been impressed with Pronto Joey’s(a more casual version). This was more elegant and we had a fabulous time. We had an early reservation at 5:30pm. While it wasn’t busy when we arrived, it quickly filled up, especially with the occasional prom guests who had opted to go here instead. The bread came out warm from the oven as that’s how they do it there. They put an order of bread in when you get there. Just for you. We had the appetizer sampler which was yummy. We also ordered a mixed seafood entrée to split which they put on two separate platters without even us asking. One plate was enough for a full serving! I ordered a side of linguine with red sauce as I had to try it there to see how their base was. It was pretty good. Our waitress was great. She was attentive and friendly. We had a great 1st experience! We’ll be back!

I’m a huge fan of Joey’s! Consistently delicious Italian comfort food in a warm setting. Yes, the dining room is a bit dated but it’s clean and well maintained and gives the restaurant a bit of old school charm. Speaking of old school charm, one thing I love here is the tableside bananas foster. It’s a bit of a show and well worth it as the result is a fantastic dessert for two. My go-to meal here is chicken francaise with penne with made to order vodka sauce, which comes with crumbled bacon on top. Another great thing about this place is how reasonable the prices are and the nice selection of wines. I’m not a fan of local wines but I always appreciate a nice selection that includes local(for those who do enjoy the sweet NY wines) and national(California, Washington, Oregon) as well as international(Italian, and others). Also, by the glass prices are reasonable for those who only want one glass of wine with dinner. All and all, one of my go to spots in CNY. My only disappointment is that there isn’t a Joey’s west of Syracuse. Open a place in Camillus!
