After a rough opening, Taste of India has emerged as one of the best Indian restaurants in Syracuse. I’d put it up against Dosa Grill. Fresh ingredients, scratch made sauces, and great service. This is go to for my family…

4 stars purely for the cuisine… We tired rogan gosh, chicken makani and goan fish curry. They are amazing. Service is a little laid back as it is a family run business… And the place could have been a lot cleaner and well organized. But no compromise on the food they serve…

I didn’t like this place very much. There are much better Indian restaurants around. Granted we had the buffet which is never as good as ordering fresh but everything seemed lukewarm and I had to ask for it to be heated up. Not a lot of choice either. Also it just looks so grubby and down market and depressing that you immediately expect the worst… and you get it. Only Samrat is worse.

Terrible service. The guy is delusional. Biriyani was stale, and when we told the waitress that, she asked if we would like something else. We ordered something else, and they charged us for both the dishes. When we confronted them, the waitress disappears, and the crazy guy on the front desk tells us how the word«exchange» was never uttered, and how there was nothing wrong with the food, and how his mother cooks. I don’t know. Crazy people. Some of the food was good, but nobody should pay for food that makes you sick. I would avoid this place. If not for the stale food and the rudeness, then for the cockroach we all saw when we first sat down.

Worst delivery service ever! Ordered on grub hub and waited over hour and a half for delivery!

Best Indian food I have had so far, prices are decent and the naan is incredible. We usually order a flat of the garlic and then a flat of the coconut for a pre-dessert. For about 35 dollars we get dessert, naan, and supper. Every single time we come home with leftovers(about half of each of our meals) because there is so much food included!

Surprised to see negative reviews, this place is great. Pretty quiet and easy to get a table. Good food, and they’ll make it very spicy if you ask them to. Friendly staff. Only complaint is it can be a little slow, especially take out. Picked up from there recently and it almost seemed like they didn’t start the food til I got there– had to wait for quite a while even though they weren’t busy. Still recommend giving it a try however.

Love the food at this place. One of the best indian restaurants around. I especially like their curries and naan. Their biryani could be better and The ambience is not the best, but they deliver too. Affordable and good indian food!

DONOTORDERFORDELIVERY Saw this place on grubhub, figured it would be a bit nicer than just ordering in pizza. After waiting two and a half hours for the food to arrive, everything is cold and they forgot two of my items. Kebab was like leather, onions and bell peppers were just about raw. Will be asking for a refund, absolutely not worth the $ 30 I spent.

Another Indian Buffer place that serves decent food for the price range(around $ 9 for buffet) and if you display your college id, you could avail the student discount as well ;) That said, the food is slightly above average, just enough to make you want to revisit when you want quick Indian food and happen to live nearby. The buffet spread consists of kheer, tandoori roti, kadi pakodi, occasionally samosas, not-so-bad Tandoori Chicken and chicken curry. Once they had a rice dish labeled Chef’s Special that looked partly like veg biryani and partly like fried rice and tasted absolutely delicious. That dish with raitha(yogurt) is why I would re-return to Taste of India. The ambiance is a notch above Samrat but around the same. A giant screen with Bollywood songs playing on repeat is enough to set the mood for the group I hang out with.(The guy was even kind enough to rewind the song for us: D So I could speak fondly of the service as well.) Overall, I’m giving this a 3 because the food is really not as awesome as the indian food I’m used to having back in India(and there is the hope of finding such an Indian Restaurant. So I’ll save the 4s an 5s for those :))

Extremely slow delivery. Feel trapped because no other Indian delivery in the area, but they delivery always takes closer to 2 hours(despite me calling and reminding them to drop my food off) and when it gets here, it’s cold and tasteless. After having this happen multiple times, they’ve lost my business.

Pathetic food. Don’t ever eat here. More often than not the food is not fully cooked and eggs are burnt. I wouldn’t eat here even if I got free coupons to go here. Nothing nice about this place. Take it from an Indian who’s eaten a LOT of Indian food

Great food at a reasonable price. It’s a small place cornered down the street. But to my surprise the food was really good. We had ordered chicken seekh kabab, chicken tikka masala(yum), lahori chicken(okay), the best part was the Naan. most of the restaurants serve the ready to go packet ones. but i think here they make tandoor roti’s, nice thin and soft. Also veggie curries like Paneer saag, Paneer makhani were good too. Good amount of rice is served too along with the curries. And they hav a great collection of wines too. I was happy to see SULA wine bottles there.:) Overall this place is good

Worst serving. Food was good but the serving couldn’t compensate the food. I wouldn’t recommend to go there.

Have been here a few times for the lunch buffet. The food is decent with some small errors. Rice was somewhat hard and clumpy. Naan was thin and the greasiest naan I’ve ever had. The other dishes were good and flavorful, no complaints there. Rice pudding was lumpy and you could chew the rice grains, probably the worst rice pudding I’ve had from a restaurant. Waiter service was okay. He refilled our waters but not as attentive as he should have been since only one other party was eating. At Samrat’s the lady pretty much hovers over you and pours after every other sip you take. There’s a student discount and you get 10% off when you show your ID.

I’ve been going to Taste of India for over a year now and I am always pleased with the friendly and attentive service. We’ve tried several of the vegetarian curries and are always happy with them. The best part about the food is that if you ask for very spicy or extra spicy– it always is! I feel like many Indian restaurants don’t believe you when you say you want things spicy. The portions are also good– you can ask for more rice as needed and we always have left overs to take home. Sometimes service is slower when there is only one waiter/waitress and it gets busy, but the food is worth it.

Tandoori Chicken is moist and tender, Na’an is okay, curry and masala flavour and spice level were quite watered down; we were asked how spicy we wanted the food to be, we told them not to Americanize it, make it the way it’s supposed to be, oh well. Service was friendly, but slow. Overall 2.5 stars, not as good as Dosa Grill in Jamesville.
