We tried by phone and email to get a gift certificate for my sister for her birthday with not a response at all. This was wonderful last year but something changed this past year as there has been absolutely no response. Quite disappointing! Looking for a new winery:(

Where do I start? First off, Danny(an awesome host and wine guide) is the man. Probably one of the best and most intimate wineries I have ever been to. We sat at a huge wooden dining table in the heart of the quaint wine cellar. There were other groups sitting around the table that allowed some great conversation. I felt right at home. The wine was great. The host was informative… AND I AMNOW A MEMBEROFTHEWINECLUB. Sold!

Did not even know that this place existed until the recent Groupon that a friend had purchased and I was born and raised here in Tacoma! This was my first experience in wine tasting so I was a bit nervous on going in since I do not know anything about wine!!! Hidden place that is next to a barber shop. Going in you would have to take a flight of stairs down where the tasting can begin. As you enter there is a small room with a few chairs for you to sit and do the wine tasting. Danny, the manager and assistant wine maker was an awesome host! He was able to answer any and all questions that I had. I do apologize because I do not remember the names of the tastings that we had. But I will be sure to bring a little notebook and write everything down when I come back! The first time there, I had a great time! I came back again yesterday for a second time and I still have the same experience as the first time. Danny was awesome as usual. He gave his full attention to everyone in the room. Awesome atmosphere and awesome people who also did the wine tasting there. There is also two clubs that you are able to join. There are perks in joining the club. Don’t quote me but I believe that for a bottle of wine it comes out to be $ 38 dollars? and if you join the club you can get a bottle for $ 22 instead. I had to join! I left with 2 bottles yesterday! lol

Went here for a wine tasting yesterday. Yum. Very delicious reds. The sommelier was knowledgable about the wines and how they were made. The bottles are $ 38, which is pretty steep. The grapes are all grown in Eastern Washington. They could work a little on the atmosphere by adding more chairs and maybe some tables for standing at while sipping your wine. It was sort of awkward when we arrived because there were just a few chairs arranged in a straight line. But, we found our seats and enjoyed a great wine tasting. We’d definitely do more wine tasting here.

Tucked away in a basement next to a massage therapy business, 21 cellars make some excellent Tempranillo and cab sauv. You feel like you’re in a French cave when you either come down the stairs or enter from the rear. Intimate and friendly. Each time we’ve been theres always several others also tasting, some even from Seattle. If you’re a wine affectionato it’s definitely worth considering joining one of the two clubs. You get a 20% or so discount and advance notice of when the next vintage is ready.

This adorable little winery hidden away off of 21st Street in Tacoma offers something that so many people need in this current economic state: affordable respite. For five dollars, you can learn about wine, chat and laugh with friends, try delicious Malbecs, Cab Savs, and more, and not feel like you’re being dragged around by your hair with the intention of vacated you as quickly as possible to make room for the next group. The hazelnut malbec(clearly not how they would describe it but how I choose to think of it) was fantastic and if I wasn’t disappointingly broke, I would have picked up a bottle or two without hesitation. The most amazing part of the whole organization is that there are only two employees — the owner/winemaker and the young woman in charge of running the wine tastings. As I mentioned previously — if you love wine and are looking for a relaxing way to spend 20 minutes or 2 hours, find the staircase behind the physical therapy office(I think) and descend into comfort!

The wines at this winery were very delicious and different. It’s a quaint, but adorable little underground cellar. I went there recently with a few of my friends, with no expectations. We asked if there would be any sort of food pairing and they said no, because they were expecting a busy day. Totally fine. However, the one girl that was assisting with the tasting, the three groups of us that were in the facility, spent most of her time with a group other then ours, they seemed to be acquainted already. My friends and I are in our mid twenties, and the remaining group, some middle aged women, who were enjoying and being poured half glasses, while we enjoyed only sips. The three reds they had were great, we even bought two bottles. We left a bit disappointed and without a buzz. I feel like when you are starting up a new business, and thereafter, you should treat all your customers in the same way. I feel like we were given a less desirable experience because of our age, and the stereotype that we would not be spending our money there.

I was given their Cabernet as a Christmas present and it was great. It was smooth with no bitter bite to it. I’m going to be getting more in the future.

We love Washington wine, and can’t resist checking out a local winery we haven’t been to before. We had plans to spend a sunny afternoon in Tacoma, so I did a bit of internet research and found 21 Cellars. It’s in the basement of a little brick building, an intimate setting for tasting. We were greeted warmly with two wine glasses, the first taste their chardonnay. Crisp, flavorful fruit, without the oaky or buttery nature that one might associate with chardonnay. Our next taste was their OmRikki, a Sauvignon Blanc varietal. A taste of this summery wine immediately made me think of refreshing apples. Our third taste was the 2007 Pont 21, a Cabernet Sauvignon-heavy red. It was mellow, with a combination of dark cherry and vanilla flavors. Their wines were unique and tasty, and very worth the visit. We left with some of their OmRikki and Pont 21.

This was my first time coming to this place with a group of friends. Granted, I didn’t know what to expect coming here, and I was a little surprised it was kind of small. However, I did like the wines that we tasted, and I would like to come back at a later time to try out others they said they will have. I only gave this place three stars mainly for the location. It’s not the most convenient for me, since I can go to other places closer, but I still would come back to this place most definitely :)

I tasted the sauv blanc, chardonnay, various cab sauvs, and a cab sauv blend — if memory serves me well. The pours were quite generous and I was a little toasted upon exiting. My favorite was the sauv blanc. The cab sauv blend was my second favorite. One of the cab sauv was from a different vineyard/wine growing area, that was a lot better than the others. I think this place has a lot of potential to be an up and coming T-town winery.
