Six bike stands, people who can help you with anything you need to get done on your bike, and bins full of parts… all for the Tacoma community. How cool is that? 2nd cycle is a gem. Open from noon to 6pm Thursday to Monday(I e closed Tuesday and Wednesday). Pay what you can, donate to support this terrific resource!

I had a great experience here today! Any other shop would have charged me $ 120+ for the work that was done on my bike today … but this place only charged me $ 40!!! It was rad! I’m definitely coming back here anytime I ever need to fix my bike. This is definitely one of the coolest bike shops that I’ve ever been to for two reasons. 1) The recycle bikes and parts and sell them cheap. 2) they want to educate the community about bike repairs/maintenance. I’d recommend you go inside the store(via google maps) and read their mission statement that’s hanging on the wall. See is for yourself! They also super chill, and provide useful customer service. I brought in a 15 year old Novara that has been been neglected for far to long, put it up on the bike stand and got to work. I wanted to get my hands greasy but if you don’t want to do the work yourself, they have employees that can service it for you. Anyways, I spend 2 hours there and trued my wheels, fixed my derailleurs, replaced cable housing, took apart the rear hub and tightened the axel, also I put a new rear cassette on the bike, along with a full tune! The whole team was ready to help me out when I needed it, but they just let me use all the tools in the shop and figure it out for myself. I’m going be cruising all around Tacoma b/c of these guys. Super grateful!

This is a great place. A community bicycle center. These guys have helped and educated myself and many others about bicycle knowledge and the stuff and the things. They are dog and kid friendly. Good people. Check them out.

I live in the north end of Tacoma and I ride to the Scott Pierson trail off of south 25 in hilltop. On my way I had a flat tire. As I began the long walk to Defiance bicycles, I remember that 2nd Cycle existed. I was able to purchase a tube, use their tools and pump to install it myself for about 10 dollars. No elitist attitudes, just good wholesome, friendly service. This is the kind of place people should be frequenting. They educate and serve for the sake of your understanding. This is not true for many bike shops… anywhere! Go here and learn how to do it yourself.
