excellent fresh donuts. terrible coffee. weak and not hot. A very unattractive place to eat.

Best donuts! I have been looking for a good donut place that is not a crazy donuts bigger than your face or crazy flavor. This place is open 24hours and the staff remembers you when you come in, and she remembers what I order! I recommend this place over any other in the area! If your are not here or have not been here then get here! What are you waiting for?

Literally the BEST old fashioned glazed donut in The Great Northwest! I’m from Texas and am accustomed to the one and only Shipleys Donuts. I never thought I would find a donut that would EVER compare! That was until, I stumbled upon this hidden gem. Simply melt in your mouth donuts! I even drive back one day randomly and grabbed a dozen! Needless to say the woman behind the counter was so nice and helpful! I wish there was one closer to me!

Man. I’d seriously get obese if I went here as much as I wanted to. I’m a maple bar freak and they feed my craving for sure. A great selection of baked goods. Great strawberry and cinnamon bow ties too. Good prices and friendly staff. Great drive thru also, I love it.

Was waiting for train and tried an apple fritter. Think it’s the best ever! Was going to share with my son but ate the whole thing!

The coffee is decent and so are the donuts. My only wish is that the cake donuts were slightly more dense! I’m also not the biggest fan of the French cruller — definitely fluffier than expected. But this is our go to coffee and donut place from Portland Ave!

My favorite place for doughnuts. The blueberry glazed cake is awesome! The coffee is better than the swill they serve at the original doughnut house.

First off, let me tell you about their fresh baked ham and cheese stuffed croissants. They are extremely yummy and are to die for! In fact, I work nearby and place a large order every other week to have others experience these tasty treats. If you do have a large order call a day prior to pre-order because this place runs out of items F-A-S-T! As for their donuts… they are equally fresh and tasty! This place hasn’t disappointed me and I recommend.

Donuts are the best in Tacoma. Nice variety and super fresh. Not sure why all the comments about rude service — staff have always been decent. But then again I go in for the donuts and not to chit chat.

We tried to go here for the first time. When we approached the door the employee shook her head no, dismissing us, even though there seemed to be other customers in the building. It looked like there were only 5 donuts in the case at 6:15pm. For a «24 hour» place that seems odd. I probably won’t try to come back. Moving on…

Okay so the owner can be snappy but I don’t think it’s intentional in any way. I’ve been coming here since 2012 so she’s well acquainted with me now but the first year was different lol. None the less this does not take away from the fact that she has probably the best donuts in the PNW. The coconut dream bar! Omg! And the cinnamon roll with the cream cheese!!! She is amazing! My kids love her and her donuts too.

You can’t have the best of both worlds here, that’s for sure! Good donuts but CRAPPY service! I don’t think that it’ll change because I’m sure that shop is hers or her husbands. I’ve went there a few times, but the woman is always rude rude rude rude, oh, and rushing. See how I didn’t call her a «lady»? Because she’s not. He always gives you the stare down with those evil eyes and she has no manners. It should be expected when you’re working at a donut shop that you’re going to have customers who are indecisive, especially when you have many options on the racks. Plus, no one wants to start their morning off with a rude person rushing them with rude manners. One start for donuts, no stars for her. Thanks.

A swell selection of fresh donuts. I have never had a soggy or sodden item from this place. French crullers are the best in town.

Went here today before catching a train, ms Chang(I’m told that’s her name) was exceptionally rude and discourteous. I was with my family and we had some questions on pricing and available donuts, which she answered curtly or not at all. The donuts themselves were simply OK, nothing to be excited about and certainly not enough to make up for deplorable service. I will never return to this shop despite it’s proximity to the amtrak station and downtown Tacoma, which I frequent with my family. It may be that she was having a bad morning, but her behavior, attitude, and sheer lack of the most basic customer service have permanently spoiled the rapport of this shop for us. I wish I could post my review with zero stars.

When you first drive up to this place, you won’t believe it’s going to be any good. It’s in a rough patch of town, not much else around there, but it’s a diamond in the rough for sure. The service is fast and friendly, place is clean, lots of parking, easy access and duh– the donuts are fantastic. Good prices and delicious treats. Even real bacon on the maple bars if you want it! Yummy yummy!

The doughnuts were really soft and delectable. There were not many slections left once I got there around 3. The looks of the place is pretty dated and the ceiling had a water damage spot in it. Overall the doughnuts were spot on

I got the maple bar and it was good, but the worker’s manners were distasteful. She was rude as fuck. I was completely dumbfounded by her attitude that she has for no reason. She was asking me which donut I wanted as if she was rushing me out the door while I was contemplating between the maple bar or the cinnamon roll donut. My boyfriend and I both looked at each other awkwardly was the atmosphere became tense with the snappy asian lady giving us death stares. She proceeded by saying, «okay i ask you, something something you don’t have to do that to me.» Confused as fuck I kept to myself as a way to restrain myself from cussing her out. My boyfriend signs the receipt and gives it to her in a rude manner as a way to say, you have a shitty attitude and customer service. She then mumbles and cusses at him. The donuts are good, but the bitch is a bitch.

«Snotty Asian woman», some one says. Haha, that’s the place! The first time I ventured by here, I left after a snappy, rude encounter with her pointing back to a rack of donuts on the other side of the room when we asked what kinds of donuts they had. But when my daughter and her boyfriend were able to peer beyond her to the rack of donuts, and were glad of it, I thought it was worth a try again. We survived and left with the goods, but a word of caution… don’t refer to donut as «plain» when it’s really«glazed» and don’t say you want the raspberry one with out specifying filled or knot, because you will be berated with monotone Chenglish and eye rolls! Also worth noting, once she’s crabbily taken the donut order, retrieves them and comes back, her demeanor lightens just a bit, adds some intonation and asks, with an almost-smile, «you wann somethin a drink?» We didn’t, but my daughter says the coffee is «really good». We got a dozen for $ 10(sign said $ 9, but I guess we ventured beyond«regular donut» in one or more of our choices… still, $ 10 for a dozen donuts is good, especially when the dough is light and soft inside, crispy and golden outside, smathered in sweetness or sloshed in raspberry/lemon. Price ranger per dainty is $.75 to $ 1.25, but you get a better deal when getting one dozen. And don’t say I said so, but I think she lives in there. It’s always«just the window» that’s opened and the few glimpses you get of her area sorta says home. Check it out!

I’ve been a naughty girl all weekend eating whatever whenever I want to, to my hearts desire. It’s was so much fun! And now I decided to go out with a bang. Donuts are the last hurrah before tommorow morning and I put on my good girl self and hit up them salads. Yaaaaay… I said that with very little enthusiasm. Here I am, making a stop at Amtrak to pick up daughter from a long weekend at her dads, and then bam. There in the close distance… it is a donut drive thru… like an oasis in the heart of worn out old industrial Tacoma buildings. Bam. Donuts!!! Drive thru?! Dream come true!!! Seriously… I was just tossing and turning last night in bed dreaming of a cream filled maple donut. Yes. I dream of dancing donuts. I have 20 minutes to kill before the train come a knockin, so I turn a sharp left into the drive thru. Stark empty open parking lot, uneven cement lumps and bumps throughout the vast space, I felt like I was about to make a shady deal in the corner of the worn out lot… and I was… but I’m trading my twenties not for a thumb size baggie… but a large pink box of sugar and flour HEAVEN!(Very reminiscent of my hometown Portland Voodoo donut box… sigh…), but boy did they knock voodoo down a few notches. This place is LEGIT!!! The lady(probably the owner), was fast and to the point. I got a selection of «fancy» donuts. Which included that indescribable heavenly angel bar. I love that the whipped cream that was piped in it was not too sweet at all. That is seriously perfection, since sweet whipped cream with a sweet maple or chocolate or any glaze is waaay too sweet. So YES… perfection. Balanced. When you are passing through Tacoma. Or swinging by Amtrak to pick up a loved one… show off and bring them here. You will be extra cool in their book. Seriously, Just knowing where a crazy good donut place is just way cool. You are just way cool. :D

Dockside Donuts has a very good selection of donuts that taste real good! Plus its very affordable, Loved the Maple bar! YUMMY to the tummy! I was extremely impressed with this place, and would have to say that Dockside Donuts probably have the best donuts in Tacoma so far that Ive tried. The service here was very fast and friendly, so I will be back and would highly recommend this place!
