This place has some slow service. It took 30 minutes for the server to get our drinks, it took almost an hour after that to get our food. The place smells funky and the server we had was using the other half of the restaurant as a daycare for her loud and annoying family. 2 stars because the was good and the portions were fair sized.

Checked it out on a whim. Not a good choice. Smaller portions, above average prices combined with older, musty taped up décor and furnishings makes for an unpleasant experience. A hole in the wall if there ever was one. Needs a 65000 $ makeover to be a respectable place. Coffee burned a hole through my stomach and my eggs Benny was flavorless. Bad neighborhood sealed the deal for me to never want to come here again.

Its funny how smoking in restaurants was banned years ago but when you walk in, you can still sense a stagnant cigarette smoke smell in the back room. The main room is small with about 6 booths and stools to sit at a bar. The back room is way out of sight, kinda feel forgotten back there. We sat at a table for 5 minutes without anyone coming with water or a menu before we decided to leave. Upon leaving this nice Asian waitress apologized and said they were really busy because there is bingo going on in some other room further back. Since the service at this point was horrible we decided to just get Club Sandwiches To Go thinking it would be faster. Boy were we wrong. After like 15 minutes of waiting a white waitress came back to ask if we had been helped and we said we ordered To Go and she said they hadn’t started on it. The Asian lady comes in and tells her it’s almost finished… and they argue about how the Bingo players orders are first and then ours. WOW, really! I am just so annoyed. So very very annoyed. We were waiting around for 30 minutes before our food was ready for $ 11 sandwiches and on top of that they charged us $ 1 for a to go order. We both were just so annoyed and hungry that we weren’t in the mood to argue. We just wanted to get the hell out of there. The club sandwiches were just okay and the fries were disgusting. Never. Ever. Again. will we return here.

Having just moved to the McKinley Neighborhood in Tacoma, I was anxious to try out some of the local restaurants. So, we stop by Fergies On the Avenue. I really wanted to like it, but my wife and I were disappointed. I don’t expect a lot from a little hole in the wall restaurant, in fact I seek them out. I would rather have good homemade food, than go to a national chain to eat processed food. It was dirty. Windows were dirty, the floor was dirty. Come on, Fegies, a little soap and water goes a long way! The food, nothing special. Just the same processed food you get at the big restaurant chains. Too bad, I was expecting something better.

Fergie’s is a small diner type of restaurant in the McKinley area of Tacoma. If you blink, you might not realize that such a gem is hidden. The food is usual(breakfast, sandwiches and dinner specials). They do have a ‘special’ that is written on the board when you walk in which can vary from a free dessert to included sides. I do appreciate that it is a small business and the owners do try to make sure you enjoy a good meal and have a good environment. There are a lot of ‘locals’ which you’ll find when you stop in for a real. Friendly staff and people.
