I have been here several times and I have loved it every single time! One of my favorite restaurants in Tacoma by FAR. I would suggest Ravenous if you want a casual/chill environment, and maybe not if you are running to see a play across the street because service can be slow. But for a nice evening out, I highly recommend it. The wait is well worth it. I loved everything I was served and the owner is incredibly friendly! As long as I will live in Tacoma, I will go here whenever I can!

Went there with friends before a show across the street. We really wanted it to be a good evening, but most of us were disappointed. The service was slow, but I hope that can be attributed to a ‘substitute’ waiter covering for someone who was sick. Even so, we got there at 6pm and didn’t see our salads until 6:50pm. We had left 1−½ hours for a leisurely dinner before the show, and ended up cramming the food in and rushing across the street. Food was quite unremarkable. On the good side, our friend who ordered the Ravenous pizza LOVED it. The wine list is small, but seems high quality. On the down side, the vegetarian tortellini with basil could be easily made from jars at Safeway, and my catfish was bland, overcooked, and a far cry from the described cajun spicing. Tortellini with smoked salmon was good; the walnuts were a nice touch. Past reviews of Ravenous seem highly variable, so I wonder if the restaurant just has off nights(and we got one). But, with all the other restaurants downtown, I’m afraid we won’t be going back to test that.

This place was great! Service TOPNOTCH! First of all my girlfriend and I left a theater and were looking for a nice meal. We wondered into the Ravenous and did not realize they were closing in like three minutes. The waitress said no problem come on in. They made our dinner, served us drinks, baked us some bread and pretty much made us feel right at home. Just the most gracious hostess and restaurant in Tacoma! Price average. Very clean. Just a great place!

I ventured here with a friend last night and ate at the bar. We agreed to let the owner decide what to serve us and I was not disappointed! She started with an amazing wine that was perfect followed by smoked salmon flat bread, a plate of muscles and clams in a delicious tomato sauce and lastly she delighted my tastebuds with duck confit and a bit of pasta on the side. I asked the owner about her culinary adventures and this is someone who truly has a passion for cooking and experimenting in the kitchen. If I were to venture to Tacoma again for a foodie experience I would definitely try Ravenous again and ask the owner to create and magical meal once again. Good times, Great Wine, and amazing food.

This has the BEST food. We come every year for Madrona Fiberarts festival and always make sure we eat here. Our group had two different sandwiches, a salad and some fantastic potato leek soup. Everything we had was excellent. I’m sure we’ll be going again next February when we make our trip.

Don’t be in a hurry, or expect Princess treatment; you will enjoy great food in reasonable time by good people. If you want a somewhat eclectic, small, clean, comfortable, pretty quiet place to have a dinner alone, with another, or another couple — this is a great restaurant to do so. The staff was two total; don’t expect hovering wait staff — which is not a bad thing. So you may need to wait a moment for your water to be refilled, or for your wine to be reordered; but when you get your wine and food it is GREAT. I had accurate recommendations for both food and wine when I posed questions. The food was clearly from a talented and versatile Chef, the service from person who was invested in my return business. Relaxing…

The weekend we were up in Tacoma landed us at the Marriott Hotel in the nearby«Theater District,» where we found this restaurant. It was such a delightful surprise to discover this place! We found the food to be absolutely delicious … We were personally hosted by the owner, whom we found to be most affable and helpful without hovering. The seafood fettucini was exquisite; the mussels just melted in your mouth! The wine list was appropriately populated with great vintages from both local as well as out-of-region wineries … the Pinot Grigio we enjoyed really complimented our meal. We’d definitely return to satiate our Ravenous appetites at this establishment next time we’re in Tacoma! Malama pono kakou!

I LOVED the food here. Yes, it’s tiny — that added to the experience for me. It’s a quirky & fun place, It was dinnertime & it was packed. There was only one table opening up, so we had to wait a little for it, but it was well worth the wait. I was so surprised to see the negative reviews — all 3 of us loved our food.

Not bad food, came here a couple times for lunch. Different type of setting the kitchen is right there when you walk in on the left and a small dining area on the right. Decoration is fun to look at. The food is good, especially the pastas. The second time I went there I ordered the pesto dish it was good, but way too oily. If it was a little less oily, I would have enjoyed it more. But all in all not a bad place for lunch during the work week!

I noticed that there wasn’t a lot of love for Ravenous on Unilocal,so I guess I had a unique experience(usually for me it’s the other way around, everyone on Unilocal thinks the place rocks, and I think it’s not so hot). I had a salad and a sandwich. Both were delicious. I was quite full afterward. Service was excellent. We were the only people in there, except for maybe one other table. There was only one server for the whole place, so I could see how if the place packs up the service would be slower.

The food was great. Nice hot sandwiches. Very generous sizes and filling. If you don’t like garlic or Italian probably not for you. I was a little fooled by the outside. Thought it was going to be a restaurant setting. When we went in it had few areas to sit. It was the same set up as the kitchen table from the show«Friends» mismatch wooden chairs etc. Only one waitress. She wasn’t the best. Seemed occupied. But the food was good. We had the Turkey BLT and The chicken artichoke sandwich. Great hot sandwiches. It was 25 dollars for both sandwiches and waters with cucumbers. A bit over priced but quiet. Nice place for a Saturday Lunch.

Food was acceptable if a bit slow. Put cucumber slices in the water — trying to be trendy? would have been nice to be asked first(I detest cucumber.) Ventilation is a problem here. When I left I smelled like grease. Menu had obvious typos, when pointed out to my server got a snotty, «You know what we meant.» — nice. You could do worse than to eat here, but you could also do much better.

I don’t know why the phrase«Bistro and Wine Bar» convinced me this place was going to be a fancy establishment. Really, it’s more of a counter, assortment of tables and seats and some interesting décor. I always passed on this place but a couple of friends convinced me to try it out. Lucky for me, I had an hour lunch as I needed every bit of my hour. Only one server and she definitely was busy working the front of house by herself. Took more than a few minutes to get water to us but when the food was ready to be served, she did a fine job getting the food out to us. I ordered the Italian Chicken Sandwich and it was okay. The chicken was overwhelmed by the melted cheese which seemed to be equal to the amount of chicken on the sandwich. Essentially, it was just a bit all over the place. The little side of pasta salad was pretty good but nothing about the food stood out. Maybe I’ll go back, we’ll see. But I definitely give props to the server, not the most talkative but definitely got the job done.

Co-workers and people who work in my building always rave about this place. I’ve never figured out why. The service? Non-existent. The food? Mediocre at best. The price? Too much for what you get. It’s a small place and there’s always two or three waitresses working lunch — I don’t understand why they always seem so overwhelmed.

I’ve eaten here twice for lunch. The food was ok. But the waitress seemed over-whelmed both times I visited. Not a great place to go if you want to eat within 30 minutes or leave within an hour.

We got a coupon for this place off . Besides excellent service, the portions were perfect, and the food was delicious. Our table of four sampled the BBQ Chicken pizza, a pepperoni pizza, a hot meatball sub, and a platter of fettuchine and chicken that was heavenly. Not the most kid friendly place, but they were very accomodating and treated us very well. Would highly recommend to any travelers and locals that happen to pass by.
