Whenever my husband and I get the chance to escape from our kids, this is where we run. And that’s saying a lot! The beer list alone is worth it, but the hot dogs are divine! I cannot get enough of the bahn mi dog! I order it with LOTS of jalapeños and try not to cry. They have a really wide-spread list of beer. I’m sure there’s something for everyone here. Lately I’ve been drinking a lot of sour beer, and they have a great selection! The servers are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, which is great if you want to know about any particular beer selection. I’m always happy for an excuse to come hang out here!

This place is a staple destination. The dining space is small, but the beer and the dogs are worth asking to share a table if someone’s not using all of theirs. The biggest table will accommodate 6 – 8 people, but you may have to wait awhile to get it. FAVs: 21+ only, Filthy Nachos, the excellent selection of IPAs and Ciders, weekday specials, breakfast(biscuits and gravy), The Cowboy(dog) and The Space Cowboy(non-alcoholic drink), The MLK(vegan dog), and the Ruston Ragin’ Cajun. BONUS: There’s ice cream 2 doors away, and it’s amazingness contained in a waffle cone. It’s the perfect casual date night combo.

This is the best place for hot dogs, from the signature peanut butter bacon hotdogs to their BLT is all good!!! Great selection of beers too!!!

Hot dogs are good, but why is a small scoop of macaroni and cheese $ 4? There were maybe 3 forkfuls in the tiny cup of mac and cheese… kind of felt like a rip-off. No problems with anything else. My husband and I shared the 6th Ave Strut, Ruston Ragin’ Cajun(with spicy andouille sausage), and the Murray Morgan Bridge Brat. The sausages were better than the hot dog, for sure. We also shared a Sound Poundage Porter. Red Hot’s is kind of the opposite of a lot of places where they just shove in tables and chairs wherever they’ll fit. They actually have less seating than you might expect. We ended up having to share a high-top table with a family of 4, who kept accidentally elbowing my husband off his stool. Not Red Hot’s fault, but it might be nice to have an extra table or two for the weekend brunch rush.

Came in after softball the other day and had some beer and dogs. Service was prompt, even though there was a good amount of people there. We all got different dogs and they came out quickly. Bahn min has some kick to it and is super yummy 6th street with added bacon is glorious Good choice of rotating beer was a great way to cap off the meal I would definitely recommend and we will be back

This use to be an awesome place to get a dog and a beer. Ever since they moved to their new location they have felt more corporate and less mom and pop, which is upsetting. I loved that they brought dogs in cheap plastic trays or filthy nachos in a small cardboard boat. They didn’t have money for metal dishes. Recently I went in and we ordered frito pie, paid around $ 4 for it and got maybe four bites worth. It was frito, cheese, and chili, no sour cream, lettuce or tomato. The hotdogs were overstuffed and didn’t feel like the same dogs I fell in love with when I first found the Red Hot. I would give them another try, but they’re losing their charisma.

Red Hot is a local favorite and when I found out they started serving breakfast I put on my stretchiest pants. I got the beast breakfast sandwich and it truly was a beast(although I somehow managed to finish the whole thing). I washed it down with a red beer(rainier beer + tomato juice) and was definitely feeling good. As always, service was great and staff was friendly. Sincerely, satisfied.

This was our first time here, and we will definitely be back. My husband ordered the Rainier Rueben and I the Hound dog, which is peanut butter and bacon. I know peanut butter and bacon sounds weird but its actually really good. Yummy Bartender was very nice and helpful.

This place was a pretty big let down, though maybe it would have been a better experience if we had just gotten drinks. We ordered two vegetarian hot dogs and a meat one, and all of us were barely able to finish them. The buns were pretty low quality, but overall they were lacking flavor and just unimpressive. The options seemed creative, but the ingredients just weren’t high enough quality to be tasty. The biggest issue was my boyfriend’s hot dog, which had a bizarre apple cinnamon flavor and was almost inedible. Additionally, I’ve never heard of a 21 and up restaurant and the sign – though posted next to the door – wasn’t obvious to us as we walked in. This was a mild annoyance, as we were able to get our food to go pretty quickly.

This place is absolutely cool. We previously made a few trips here but that was after we had just moved to Tacoma years ago. We made a run by here 2 – 3 weeks back and it was a completely different bar… seriously they must have expanded or something, because I remember the first time we came to the bar it was literally too packed to enter. The food at this place is cool. They follow the trend of bars not having deep fryers so replacing tots and fries with chips. This seems to be pretty normal practice in Tacoma. I grabbed a sausage while my wife grabbed a hot dog. The price feels right for artisanal hot dogs with clever flavors. We grabbed 3 beers between the 2 of us and overall we spent $ 20 for the whole trip. That feels like a great price to me. They have a wide selection of beers on tap ranging in styles and flavors and the pricing are… market price for beer. The one thing that really worked for me was they made a blend of raspberry Framboise and chocolate stout for a chocolate covered raspberry that may have been one of the greatest things I have ever drank.

Talk about a hot dog joint. Is it a bar? or is it a hot dog joint? They have all sorts of hot dogs and the combinations are interesting and delish. The brews on tap are also good. We went there in the winter so I am not sure if they have this or not. What I would want to see is a walk up window, or a way to bring my kid in. Great place, fun place, and interesting hot dogs and brews.

On a recent trip to Tacoma Red Hot was by far the best food we had. Delicious hot dogs, better than anything I’ve had in a Seattle restaurant at prices that must be low even for Tacoma. We popped in here for a midday snack. The hot dogs here are perfectly sized for that, ie you need 2 for a full meal. I was impressed with the Tap list and our waitress made great recommendations for beers. I was instantly drawn to the Banh Mi Sausage and was not disappointed. The sausage was plump and appropriately flavored, and the traditional toppings were great on the bun! Warning it was spicy! I also ordered a side of the special sausage and beef chili. The lack of meat in my cup of chili was disappointing. The service here is stretched thin so don’t dilly dally ordering, or you could be left waiting for a while. They also didn’t give me tortilla chips with my chili(our server mentioned they were included) and I managed to finish the food it before we were checked on.

Besides the overpriced hot dogs and sausages, this bar has a nice vibe and seems like a cool place to hang out. I stopped by for a quick weekday lunch and it had a surprising number of locals inside. I had a mac and cheese hot dog and banh mi sausage. They were admittedly delicious, but not worth the more than $ 10 for them. I would come back here if the bar were my primary reason, but if I just wanted lunch or dinner I could probably get better food elsewhere. There’s a full bar inside, so you have to be over 21 to even enter the place.

Fast service on a Thursday mid afternoon visit. Tacoma boys BLT, Ragin’ Cajun, and Tres Hombres! Cold beer on tap and a diet coke from a can. Dogs were tasty, mac and cheese delightful, beans had a hint if spice and the slaw… went well with the Cajun! $ 25. 00 for lunch… not terrible. Bathroom right next to a table. .ewah.

Very casual here. You can even come in, grab a cup of water & walk out again. There’s an IGLOO cooler in the entrance area. Watch the big screen tv. Funky music during the late lunch. Definitely a neighborhood spot.

Wanted some hot dogs and found this on Unilocal! Parking wasn’t too difficult, just parked at a nearby Taco Bell then walked over. My mom and I grabbed a seat and were immediately taken care of. We ordered the Tideflats, Hilltop, Tacoma, Tacoma BLT, 6th Ave(?), and the Slaw dog for to-go. Within 10 – 15 mins, it was out. I loved my Tideflats, my mom liked the Tacoma. My brother said the BLT was pretty good. Definitely need to come back!

This was my absolute favorite place to go when I lived in the area — it is delicious, cheap, and just a relaxing place to be. They always have great beer on tap and the staff are super friendly. On top of everything else that they are doing great, they have veggie and vegan dogs! Talk about catering to everyone! My favorites: 6th Ave Strut and the Gangsta Mac Now, you may be wondering why I knocked it down a star… and this is just a personal problem, but after they expanded, the place didn’t feel as personal and cozy as it used to… it went from being a place where I could relax and have a beer and a hot dog by myself(normally after a crappy day of teaching) to a place where sports fans like to come in their gear and yell at the screen. Now, don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with that(I love my Seattle teams as much as the next born-and-bred gal), but it’s just not what I am looking for. That said, if you’re looking for a place to watch the game and have some delicious food, this is the place for it now! In short, every(and I mean EVERY) time I’m back in Washington, I make sure to stop here — it would be a sin not to.

FIRSTIMPRESSION: We decided to eat at this establishment(finally) this past weekend because one, I was craving for hot dogs, and two, I read somewhere that Red Hot took 2nd place in «Best hot dog in Western Washington». I’m glad we visited this establishment. We ordered the Ruston Rajin’ Cajun(sausage), Tacoma Boys BLT(hot dog), and for takeout, Tideflats(hot dog). We also ordered two drinks. We definitely will return. In addition, their beer selection was abundant. It took me a while to make a decision– I ended up with cider. Beer/cider and hot dog? Best combo ever! The only reason why I gave them a 4 star was because I actually expected the hot dogs to be a bit bigger. I was still hungry(hence the takeout) after devouring my Ruston Rajin Cajun. I do want to mention that the Tideflats was much bigger which would have filled me up if I ordered that at the establishment. As far as location, it’s on 6th Ave(and next to Ice-Cream Social — if you want desert, score!). Parking sucks though since they do not have their own lot. We lucked out with finding parking on the side streets.

I’ve been to TRH a few times now and have always loved everything I’ve had to eat and drink. Their tap list is awesome and I love that they have a few different ciders available. Among my favorite dogs are the Rainier Rueben, Tacoma Boys BLT, and the 6th Ave Strut. I was really hoping to have a particular sausage that is my go-to and the German potato salad, but they are no longer on the new menu. What??? I crave that vinegary, yummy potato salad… And now it’s gone. Sad panda here. So today I opted to try a new sausage… The TRH Bahn Mi without the bun. It came with the bun but that’s an easy fix. And the server didn’t charge me for my cider for the mistake. Awesome! The sausage was freakin’ delicious. Pickled carrot, siracha mayo, and jalapeño slices. Nom. Nom. Nom. My mom ordered the Rainier Reuben and about halfway through eating it she found a hair. Gross. Despite the fact that there is no longer my favorite potato salad on the menu and disgusting hair hiding in a bun, I’ll return… I just kinda love the vibe and the food is always good(no more hair, please).
