Yummy!!! I love that they have non dairy options that are not all fruit flavored. I love chocolate and creamy bases, but don’t eat dairy, so the different coconut flavors they offer are right up my ally! The scoops are huge, be sure to ask for one scoop with two flavors if you can’t decide, they will do this for you! The cones are really tasty, and they fill your cone, not just plop the scoop on top like most places. Last time I went I got my scoop(which should be plural for the portion), and asked for hot fudge. Like I said I love chocolate, so when I asked for a refill of hot fudge the girl was more than happy to fill me up without an extra charge. My husband and our biker crew enjoy riding our beach cruisers up here on a hot summer day… It is the perfect 10 mile round trip cruise sesh for a non dairy ice cream treat. Don’t get me started on the regular flavors… As coffee is my FAV and they carry Valhalla coffee … If only my tummy wouldn’t hate me… Definitely recommend gettin the scoop on The Ice Cream Social(haha get it… The scoop…)

Finally made it to this Tacoma institution on a warm afternoon. Door was literally out the door and down the sidewalk. One taste of the ice cream explained it. My significantly better half got the Aztec Chocolate which was chocolatey AND spicey – unreal. I asked for the salted caramel but it tasted more like some butterscotch flavor they also had available which turned out to be tastey none the less. Awesome place in an awesome area of Tacoma. Check it out!

Tacoma now has its own hipster ice cream shop! I don’t mean that in a derogatory way: Molly Moons, Pink’s, and Full Tilt have created excellent products for a few years now that have seemingly flooded the Seattle area with über hipster ice cream options, and Tacoma was seemingly SOL until this place opened up. Located a half ish block up the street from the Tacoma Co’op, Ice Cream Social has your now typical array of dairy and non dairy based icreams in rotating flavors. I have to say I was a big fan of the roasted banana that they offered when I stopped by, and that it was actual banana based and not fake flavoring based. Stop by if you’re near, there’s some tasty stuff here.

The best ice cream you will ever have. We make the 30 minute drive to come here because the ice cream is just top notch. Not to mention they hand make all of their waffle cones. One small complaint is if you go during midday on a weekday and they don’t have many employees working, you likely won’t get greeted by anyone and feel like you’re being ignored. Other than that, every other experience has been wonderful and we love their salted caramel ice cream!

Wonderfully delicious and totally scrumptious homemade locally sourced ingredients come together to explode on my tastebuds creating a whirlwind daydream of long lost childhood memories of old ice cream shops and sunshine and children laughing. Fast forward to present day and this ice cream shop is the bomb. I love their flavors and homemade waffle cones. Add to it the central location on 6th avenue and the whimsical chalkboard on the wall to keep the kids busy and you’ve got a winner. Moderately priced for the quality of the goods. Definitely far and beyond anything Baskin Robbins or some yogurt place can offer. Pack up the fam and enjoy the sunshine while cooling down with some creamy delectableness from Ice Cream Social. Mmmmmmmmmmmm,‘mmmmmmm!

Ice cream was pretty good, though the African American girl looked at everyone in a rude way. She frowned the whole time during our visit. If you’re not happy there, then don’t work there. Everyone else was cool, but it was a bad visit due to an employee with a bad attitude.

Hands-down, the best ice cream in Tacoma! Made using local fresh ingredients. Couldnt be better. Try the buttered pecan, the lavender, or the star anise — you will not regret it! Their dairy free choices are amazing too! The staff are always friendly & helpful, letting you sample flavors. Only thing I dont love about the place, is that its small inside! On a warm day, you can expect to wait to order in a line out the door — and not much chance of finding a place to sit inside. However, the quality of the ice cream is worth that minor inconvenience!

The ice cream here is delicious! You can tell it’s freshly made. As someone who can put away some ice cream, the double cone is just too much. I ended up throwing the last third away, and there was still a ton left. I recommend going with the single cone or a cup. The cookies and cream was really good! Next time I’m going for butter pecan Going with four stars because the waffle cone seemed extra thick. I’m sure they do that on purpose, but it’s just a lot to munch on. Again, I’d suggest ordering a cup.

For living in the area for over 3 years now, I haven’t had the staple of Tacoma known as Ice Cream Social. I have always heard of it but never made the time to go. After today, that has changed. I ordered a double scoop, 1 scoop chocolate brownie and 1 scoop Valhalla coffee. First off, I made the mistake of ordering two scoops based off of other ice cream shops, and this isn’t your typical ice cream shop. The scoops are huge! Not that I am complaining, but lesson learned, this shop knows how to dish out their ice cream in realistic scoops. Secondly, this is fresh ice cream. When I asked they said it’s made daily in house. I am a huge fan of Valhalla coffee and the ice cream they make here tastes just like it. Best of both worlds! Will be stopping by again!

ICECREAM!!! Wow and I mean Wow!!! This place is amazing and right next to another one of my favorite places the Red Hot. So you can grab dinner and then dessert in one place. Anyhow tried a few of their ice creams while standing in line and everything was amazing. Nice smooth texture and great flavor; I ended up getting the Butter Pecan and definitely one of my favorites and better than anything you can buy in the grocery stores. Prices were good, service was fast, although a bit small inside which is fine because I will just take it home. Overall a great place for ice cream in Tacoma especially when it looks like the frozen yogurt trend is now over. I will be back

A lovely ice cream shop with unique flavors and non-dairy, options which are mostly coconut based. They also have freshly made cones, brownies & cookies to add to your order. If you want your brownie or cookie warm, they do offer the option to heat it. They rotate their ice cream flavors often but you can check their Facebook page for the current menu before you head in. There’s limited seating available as it is a small shop but there are benches nearby to rest on if it’s a nice day out. Or if you want to take your ice cream to go, there’s pre-packed pints in a display freezer but they’re so busy it usually low on flavors.

On taste, best ice cream in town, if not the region. Excellent, homemade quality! A couple things I really love are… A) how Ice Cream Social partners with other Tacoma business(Valhalla Coffee ice cream, Wingman Brewing Peanut Butter Porter ice cream, etc) to create fun flavors using local ingredients B) there are plenty of dairy-free options for lactose intolerant folks C) the atmosphere always seems fun! People always look like they’re having a great time.

5⁄5. 6⁄5 if that was a possibility! I’ve had my fair share of ice cream around the world, but this places knocks it out of the park! The ingredients they use are all very high quality and you won’t second guess that when you taste the richness of each flavor. They also have a set of constant flavors and they have featured flavors that change every week or so. They also carry a selection of sorbets for those dairy free eaters! I recommend the salted caramel(to die for if you are in to dulce de leche!) and the Valhala coffee(BESTEVER!)

This place is perfect! Reminds me a lot of Molly Moons too. Social is great, it’s clean, neat & the people whom work here are very nice. So I love that. The flavor that I got was the Salted Caramel & I definitely recommend it. This flavor can be strong, but from here, it was a subtle, salty taste so I liked that. Definitely worth coming up here, grabbing a cone & taking a short drive to Ruston Way:)

I love coming here for ice cream! They are the perfect local ice cream shop with unique and enticing flavors that they change up every few months or so to keep it fresh! If you’re from Tacoma and haven’t had their ice cream you are missing out!

Went here for dessert after our Valentine’s dinner. There was a line, but the service was very fast. You can smell the scent of fresh waffle cones a block away. The staff are very friendly and efficient. I keep comparing this place to Molly Moon’s because I just went there last week. In my opinion, this place comes second to Molly Moon’s but is very similar. Their homemade ice cream is very good — it’s not too sweet and churned just right. They give you a HUGE portion for the single serving. The shop is very clean. When we went the place was packed so we just walked around the neighborhood after getting our ice cream. I had the Valhalla Coffee, which was good, but I prefer Molly Moon’s stumpton coffee ice cream. The flavor of the ice cream had a deep cappuccino flavor and was very smooth. My boyfriend got the Figs and honey flavor which he enjoyed. They sell pints of ice cream that you can take home, which I will probably do when I find a flavor I love. I will definitely come back during the summer to try out their other flavors as well!

This place is really good. I swore I did a review after I took two soccer teams to this place for a treat, and the server rang us through like a rock star even while taking care of the other guests. I prefer this place over any of those fro-yo places any day. If you love supporting a local establishment, then this is definitely a place to support.

Word of advice: these scoops are HUGE. I got a double scoop of Cherry Pie and Lavender and really struggled near the end. However, the flavors were too delicious to pass up — I loved how they were not heavy at all like most ice creams I have. Both of my flavors were among the 4 – 5 special flavors that change up from time to time. I will definitely be back here for my next ice cream fix, although I’d stick to one scoop. Tips: If you come on your birthday, you get a discount off of your order! Also, we had to wait in a 10 – 15 minute line on a Monday summer night, which gives you an idea of how popular this place is.

Love their vegan options. The coconut flavors are amazing and will knock your socks off. My favorite is their coconut coffee. Delicious. Their full fat non vegan options are wonderful too, I’m grateful whenever blueberry is on the menu. Flavors sell out fast, but they always have their usual standard as well too. Customer service is top notch. Even if you order one scoop, they allow you to do a split scoop for no charge. And who can resist getting sprinkles for free? Child friendly, family oriented, and great environment for a date. Lots to see on 6th age too, so you can always take it to go too. Pints offered as well. I love how awesome my hair smells after I visit here: like waffle cookies.
