Black Bear Yogurt and Espresso

Don’t buy the frozen yogurt here. Probably the worst frozen yogurt I’ve ever had. The yogurt comes out of the machines with a sorbet texture… nearly liquid. So eat fast or it will be a pool of liquid sugar before you know it. Some of the toppings were old. To top off the experience, I’ve never paid so much for frozen yogurt! Run away from this place!

We order 2 cups and a coffee. The place was not packed and at the moment we were there, the business came from my family and 2 friends (4 adults and 2 children). After we paid for everything, it took the girl nearly 10 minutes to make 1 cup of coffee.

My first time here was yesterday. The lady working did a great job showing us sample cups and offering little bear pieces for he little ones. It was a nice touch. The place is cozy. A great place to go with the family for a treat.

Its wonderful to be greeted so warmly ebery time you come in. They seem very well educated in their products.

Hands down, my favorite froyo place! Simply put, they have more flavors and toppings than any froyo place in town. The décor is beautiful and the facility is extremely clean. It’s a great place for groups and they even offer party packages for birthdays, events, etc.

I am addicated to frozen yogurt; especially as a post workout treat. I purchased a Living Social deal (which I believe is still available — $ 10 for $ 24 worth of froyo — can’t beat it!) Anyways, I was extremely disappointed, being that I have a few great froyo places where I live and drove all the way out to the 6^th ave location to meet a friend and her family. The frozen yogurt was semi melted as it oozed out of the machines. I actually tried a few and they all had the same consistency. By the time I added my toppings, my cup was a puddle to drink rather than indulge. Kind of sad, really. Lol.
I gave this place 2 starts instead of 1 because the staff are extremely nice and thoughtful… especially for a family friendly location.

They were very friendly and helpful! I love that we can sample the flavors before we choose! They have so many toppings to choose from, and it was not too spendy! I took both my children here and my youngest needs a highchair and they have the absolute coolest highchairs at this place you can wheel them around wherever you need to go like a little shopping cart! The seating is great the chairs were comfortable everything is spaced out well, you don’t feel crammed!

They have an amazing amount of yogurt and topping selections! Pretty much everything you could ever want. Also, they have different ways to enjoy instead of just yogurt with toppings — shakes, blizzard type mixes, and more. We love the atmosphere and will definitely be back!

The service and product here are both amazing! They have a pretty nice selection of yogurt and sorbet flavors, and they rotate through on a regular basis. The toppings are pretty awesome too, especially the popping boba and cheesecake pieces. I really would like to see more fresh fruit at the 6^th ave location (the one on 72^nd seems to have more.) The reason for the 4 stars is that they are often out of at least 1 or 2 flavors, or machines are broken, and the toppings stored in the containers on the walls are sometimes gross because people bypass the dispenser feature and just take off the lid and did around in it. Not a huge deal because I can just skip those toppings, and they have other options. The service is always friendly, and all in all my favorite place to get froyo in Tacoma!

Many toppings are old!!! Change out your supply or at least let us test them out before we pour it all over our yogurt. The service is good though. Coffee is French pressed. And VERY GRITTY. I believe the cashier/​barista whoever didn’t know the proper technique of a French press. Overall I will never come back.

They have so many toppings to choose from. You have to look at the dispensers on either side of you as you walk towards the toppings bar, I almost missed them. They had many dry toppings to choose from (caramel cups, gummi bears, etc.) and then quite a few tapioca ball choices and a couple of fruit ones. They also had about 6 – 8 different syrups to choose from as well. They had lots of different yogurt flavors, some of which I had not seen before like peanut butter that were quite yummy.
They had a nice seating area inside where you could hang out with friends and talk. I will definitely be back.
They also serve super size muffins and coffee.

Great shop with a great product. I really love their various flavors of yogurt and their coffee’s are great. The ambiance is truly welcoming and warm. It’s my new go-​to place for yo-​go!

The woman that works there let her son reach into the toppings bar and grab whatever he wanted with his bare hands. Gross.

Stopped by for a sandwich and yogurt, but left immediately after observing the following HEALTH VIOLATIONS:
1) Long, greasy hair in the counter-person’s face!
2) Same guy (with hair) SNEEZED multiple times before making someone’s panini!
3) Same guy (sneezy with long hair in face) was also EATING something while taking/​making orders.
Yikes!

Nothing is better than having a yogurt joint open up within walking distance of your home!
And Black Bear Yogurt is just that place!
Upon walking in it is a little confusing as to where the line starts but after you spot the yogurt machines then you get the picture.
They have lots of different yogurt flavors available to you at all times. There are a huge assortment of toppings to put on it and of course they have tapioca balls of various flavors which I can never pass up even if they do not match my yogurt flavor well I just can’t pass them up!
Nice atmosphere makes the experience all the more better!

The yogurt was delicious, but nothing unique from other frozen yogurt places. I was extremely disappointed with the espresso. I watched the barista make the drink incorrectly, and the espresso was burnt and ruined the whole drink. I had waited in line so long that I didn’t have time to wait again. Next time I’ll just stick with the froyo!

This place is pretty legit. A wealth of awesome toppings, fun, tasty, and great service. My only hiccups are the unpredictability of the soft serve offerings. Ive been twice and what i went for they didn’t have, so the idea of i’ll try that next time was lost. The other thing is the 15 bucks i spent on two ice creams that i thought were fairly basic. Maybe thats industry standard but sheesh! For ice cream and candy!
All in all a must try, just not a place im gonna go too often.

Without a doubt, they have the BEST frozen yogurt in the area, best flavor and texture 10 out of 10 rating!
They have TONS of toppings, and the topping area is really clean.
I’m extremely picky when it comes to coffee, and their coffee was also really good, and for the price, I was pretty happy.
They have a fireplace, that is so much fun, and modern!
Again, the service was far more than ever expected, and their products are fantastic, and affordable; I just LOVED IT!!!

The newest location in this local frozen yogurt and coffee chain is cozy and inviting. Like all of their locations, this one encompasses the feel of the northwest. The store has décor consisting mainly of wood, dark colors, and black bears. The store offers 12 flavors of self-​serve frozen yogurt priced at $ 0.45 per ounce. Some of the flavors offered today were Cappuccino, Rocky Bear Tracks, Shamrocks, Maple Bacon Donut, and Dulce de Leche. As for toppings, there are lots of goodies to choose from: cereal, candy, nuts, granola, sauces, and fresh fruit. They offer waffle cones, too. Every yogurt is topped off with their signature «Black Bear» teddy graham which is a cute added touch.
If you’re looking for a twist on your frozen yogurt, they have a spoonable treat called the «Bear Storm» which is similar to a DQ Blizzard. You pick the yogurt and toppings, and the barista will blend it right in front of you. They also offer smoothies if you are looking for something to sip on instead.
In addition to the yummy yogurt options, Black Bear serves various hot beverages such as coffee, espresso, and tea. They also have freshly made Panini sandwiches and a variety of fresh pastries.
My only complaint is that they don’t post flavor updates like most of their competitors. This is true of their other self-​serve locations also, and they don’t have a phone for customers to contact them. Many of us die-​hard frozen yogurt lovers make the trek daily to have their favorite treat, and I choose where I’m going for my daily frozen yogurt based on the flavor offerings and what I’m craving. If I don’t know what’s offered ahead of time, I usually won’t take the risk and I end up going somewhere that has the flavors I want. I know I’m not alone in this request, so I hope this is something that can be implemented in the near future.
