He convinced me to have surgery. Now I am deaf. But he blamed me. i went to him for 11 years. The last year he never knew what I was there for. It’s like he didn’t remember me. Seemed strange My biggest concern is he did not take responsibility for botching the surgery. I know he knows mistakes were made. All very sad.

I have been dealing with episodic vertigo for 8 years starting in my early 20s, so severe that when I get it I am even unable to walk without stumbling or walking into walls, etc. I am also out from work or normal activities for weeks. I was seeing an ENT in California where I lived for more than 4 years, but he just told me that ‘sometimes young people get this and you’ll just have to deal with it the rest of your life’ after running numerous tests on me and being unable to come up with a diagnosis or a true effective treatment plan.
In one visit, I had a more thorough hearing exam than I had ever had before in all the years I’d been getting them since childhood, and Dr. Souliere’s nurse was very kind and thorough in her exam and questioning before I saw Dr. Souliere. Dr. Souliere was quiet, confident, with gentle humour that instantly put me at ease. After a few more questions and some simple coordination and balance testing, he had a diagnosis for me and explained it so well and so efficiently, and answered all of our questions. He lifted such a huge weight from my shoulders, as I had come in assuming like he would be like all the other doctors I had seen from neurologists, endocrinologists and ENT and not have any answers for me like them. He immediately had a plan for me, and assured me that he wasn’t retiring anytime soon and he would follow me and we would track it and treat it together. I told him what my previous ENT had told me and how long I had seen him and he actually apologized to me for him. I wanted to hug him and was near tears of relief that someone finally knew what was wrong with me and how to treat it.
