Don’t go here. They do not have standard Subway sandwich items behind the counter. Staff could care less. Needs a new owner /manager again…

When I’m driving six hours through Eastern Washington and Idaho or otherwise am in unfamiliar territory, Subway’s tuna and veggie-patty sandwiches are the best meal I can hope for. For that reason, I’m easier on this chain than on most chains. Two of Tacoma’s best sandwiches now are prepared within a block of this place — at Phở King and Peterson Bros./1111. So you’d have to be crazy to ever come here, right? Well, no, not if you’re on the go and didn’t think to call in a sandwich order at either of those places. Different Subways have different«specialty» items, such as veggie patties and hot sauce. The latter is spicy, thick, tasty and difficult to find at any Subway. For some reason, this recently reopened eatery and its fire-damaged predecessor get all the new stuff. I gleaned from two of their many friendly«sandwich artists» recently that their place is a test market, so they generally are first in Tacoma to have certain things. That’s definitely true of the hot sauce. Speaking of sandwich artists, every employee I’ve encountered here in the past year has been not just personable, but outright friendly. So maybe it’s a test market for great service, too. Do I recommend eating at Subway? Not if you’ve got other options. But when I’m in a rush, this is a surprisingly good one.

Recently re-opened. This location has been closed for over a year, I believe, and haven’t really missed it. Well now it’s open again… I guess I’ll go there once in awhile. On days when I don’t have the time, money, or imagination to spare finding a good deal for lunch, Subway will do.

This subway is closed. I think there was a fire several months ago, and it has not re-opened. No sign of life in the space.
