The market service here was great. The gal behind the counter was amazingly patient while we decided on how much to get based on what was in a lb and cost. The prices were high but not nearly as high as they would have been at a lot of others places.

Amazing food and amazing service! It was our server Paul’s first day and, as a manager myself, I recognize a customer centric staff anywhere. We sat outside around 7pm and him and(I assume) the manager scrambled to provide not one, but two space heaters. There was a sense of urgent ease to their service and I appreciate that. I don’t usually write reviews but I was too impressed not to.

My first time at Fish Peddler. I went there because it was close to my hotel and it said it was kid friendly, I had my 1yr old in toll. They have a basic kids menu which includes cod and chips besides a burger and grill cheese. There was a lot of food that sounded good in the menu and I opted for the basic halibut and chips. The halibut was fresh and delicious, it included there pineapple jalapeño slaw.

Stumbled upon this place while checking out the marina. The appetizers were amazing, and the ice cold bucket of shandy’s were wonderful on a 90+ degree day. We will be back with our boat!

Good service. Good fries. But the Peddler Pub Burgers were the worst burgers I have ever eaten. My wife and I ordered the burgers medium rare, but they arrived cooked to a crisp. They were so overcooked and dry that the meat crumbled and it tasted burned like a piece of charcoal.

My husband and I tried this place last night for the first time and really enjoyed it! The seafood dip and lobster mac and cheese were my favorites! Staff was super friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back and hoping to sit on the patio when it’s a little warmer outside!

Service was fast and the food was great! It was nice to have the seafood display nearby. Prices were reasonable except for the Makers Mark Manhattan which was priced high at $ 12.

We stumbled upon this gem last week, while looking for a good restaurant to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. His only request was seafood, so this seemed like an appropriate choice! I really had no idea this place existed until I found it on Unilocal.Their menu looked enticing, the pictures of their outside seating looked fabulous, and most of all, the reviews were generally stellar. We decided to give it a go. Upon arrival we were quickly greeted and escorted to the deck, where we were allowed to choose our own table(score!) After being seated, water quickly came, as well as our drink orders. Beer list is rather simple but their wine list has a bit more options. Most importantly — their house wine was both decent and reasonably priced. That’s what matters most in my world. On to the food — We ended up ordering the calamari as an appetizer, which ended up being alright but I’ve definitely had better. What bothered me about the calamari was how delicate the coating was; it kept flaking off on the plate or into the sauce. Also, the calamari was cut into thin discs, and I’m more a fan of steak cut squid… I’m beginning to sound like a calamari nazi, so I’ll just stop there. My boyfriend and I each ordered an oyster shooter as well, which was simple(oyster + cocktail sauce) but yummy! The oysters were super fresh and went down easy. As for our main meals — 3 out of the 4 of us got the fish and chips. We all opted for the beer batter rather than the original and we were all pleased. The batter was super thick and crunchy and not all that greasy(unlike other places I’ve been). The fish and chips came with fries and a pineapple slaw. My grandma didn’t care for the slaw but I really enjoyed it and was more than happy to scoop hers onto my plate! Fries were fries. Good but nothing to write home about. My boyfriend was the lone wolf of the pack and ordered the pan fried oysters. They were perfectly cooked and the portions were fair. It was his first time having fried oysters and he enjoyed them, though he decided he prefers them raw. I don’t think it was anything the Fish Peddler did or did not do, but just a matter of preference… I LOVE fried oysters so I wish I would’ve snagged one from his plate but I was trying to be on my best behavior since it was his birthday and all. Next time… Lastly we finished up with dessert! We ordered the burnt cream and the seasonal fruit cobbler. Both were absolutely delicious and the portions were reasonable. The 4 of us split the 2 desserts and we ended up having some leftover. For drinks(1 Diet Coke, 2 beers, 4 wines), 1 appetizer, 2 oyster shooters, 4 entrees, and two desserts the total came to $ 135 or so. About $ 35 a person, which I thought was great considering everything we ordered. We were freaking stuffed and nearly had to roll ourselves outta there. All in all it was a great experience. Food and drinks were wonderful and the atmosphere on the deck was serene; however, it was the service that took the cake! Our waitress was absolutely amazing and made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. She(I forget her name — maybe Ashley?!) was very knowledgable about the menu, had wonderful suggestions, and was prompt and attentive from start to finish. Toward the end of our meal, when we were enjoying our desserts, she hung out and chatted with us a bit… It was an interesting and fun convo! We all praised her on her awesome service. I would return simply to chat it up with her again! It’s always nice when you find someone who is not just good at their job, but passionate about it. :)

Been here twice and can’t wait to return. This small place is a refreshing change from the hulse on Ruston Way. Fish stew is one of the best I have eaten. Prices are very fair and there is an outside seating area for enjoying the views.

Good stuff: Appetizers, presentation of food, and service Bad stuff: No mint with check! Came here for restaurant week. Best. Appetizers. Ever. Bulgogi street tacos and seafood dip were amazing and the entrée(panfried oysters) was great as well. Chocolate lava cake was okay, but the seasonal fruit crisp was much better(ours had apple; the waiter told us they change it about every 3 months). Our waiter, Kevin, was awesome and service was quick. Would recommend to a friend who likes seafood and restaurants by the water.

This goes back to «Day 1» of the cooler breakdown at the cafeteria at work. So it was also the first day of putting away my vampiric work cape and going out in the sun and a stroll on my way to midday sustenance also known as «lunch». It was a gorgeous day for such a thing by the way, mild temperature, not an overbearing sun, no skin blistering and disintegration. It was all good. I have a lunch hour which is pretty good but I was a bit concerned after my walk just how long it would take to receive my food after ordering. Still being mindful of the time. Not a problem. I got my fish tacos out right away and enjoyed the meal greatly. It was nice and light and still satisfying. The chips and salsa which came with the meal were not too bad but the salsa seemed to taste a bit bland. I definitely go for spicy or hot flavored salsa but that is my own personal preference. I enjoyed the meal, service was prompt and friendly and made it back to work without having the feeling time was wasting away.

Had a wonderful dinner experience last night. It was my first time dining here and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Our server was attentive, polite, and knowledgeable about what was on the menu. Ever since moving to WA I’ve been on the search for REALFRESHSEAFOOD that is prepared properly. I.e. Not over cooked or over salted. The Fish Peddler delivers on fresh seafood and decent servings. You will definitely leave full and satisfied. The actual restaurant is also very cute. New fave waterfront restaurant in Tacoma.

My hubby and teen daughter and I stopped in to buy some fresh seafood while on our way to the waterfront for a seminar/dinner at Shenanigan’s. We’ve been a longtime fan of what was formally named Johnny’s Seafood market. Both times now that we’ve been to purchase seafood with new owner/name has been good experience with helpful staff. Although it doesn’t have the huge seafood selection it used to it’s still nice to get a few of our favorites such as the smoked salmon spread, fancy size oysters for shooters, squid and seaweed salad and also got some minced clams for making chowder. Depending on what looks good at the moment depends on choices we make. Was tempted by the crawfish. Since we had time to kill we decided to sit in the adjoining dining area. Again had a friendly staff member wait on us. He informed us it was Happy Hour so we couldn’t pass that up! lol Hubby/I each ordered a well drink, think it was just 4.00 each and have to admit it had a nice kick to it which was a nice surprise. Also off the H.H. menu we ordered a ½ doz. raw oysters on the half shell and fried calamari. It came out very quickly. Oysters were very small, smaller than used to getting but fresh and tasty… could have easily eaten a doz. each as they were about the size of a nickel as seen in pic. The 6 tiny shells were lost surrounded by ice on large platter The calamari were tiny little rings a little albino in color for being fried but were actually nice and light tasting served with a different mayo based sauce from the usual aoli(although we requested that too) or marinara but really good. We looked over the reg. menu for future reference, it had a nice offering but honestly a bit pricey being in a small casual/market type setting. It IS although on the strip of waterfront that is more like a canal that houses boats and businesses. But it would be enjoyable to dine outside at one of the umbrella tables on a beautiful day and order some fish/chips or nice seafood salad. Nice that each week day they offer a different 20% off special in the market.

The BEST clam chowder we’ve ever had! Service is fantastic, seafood is a fresh as it gets, and the atmosphere is relaxed. What’s not to love?! Great Bloody Mary’s too — prawn, crab and oyster extras along with a spicy mix made them a perfect start to our meal!

I don’t give five stars often, but when I do I come to the Fish Peddler. Amazing menu, fair prices, good portions, and personable service. You won’t be disappointed! Try the Bloody Mary with raw oyster or pick out your lobster and they’ll cook it for you. Fish and chips are a no brainier. Enjoy.

This place is in a beautiful and quaint location by the water. The first thing you notice is most likely the smell and then you notice that there is also a market along with the restaurant despite the name. I had the utmost expectation that their seafood is fresh. The server was quite nice and did a great job taking our orders and suggesting beverages. I got the seafood fettucine. Prices here are a little steep, especially for Tacoma, but in the end it is seafood. I was expecting the usual of restaurants skimping out on the amount of seafood they actually give you in a pasta dish, but to my surprise, there was quite a bit of seafood! First off, these were tiny little shrimps, they were a good medium size and my dish contained about 7 shrimps and 3 scallops. I am sure there were other seafood items in there, but I don’t really remember it. The shrimps and scallops were cooked really well; although the cream based sauce was a little on the heavier side. It came with a slice of garlic toast which complemented the sauce really well! Overall, I really enjoyed this tasty dish, and it was such a big portion that I couldn’t finish it. I had some of my husband’s clam chowder as well and that was delicious! He didn’t really share with me, so the next time I come here I will definitely remember to get a bowl for myself! ENJOY~!

Went in on a chilly day for something warm. Had the northwest seafood stew. It was fantastic. You definitely are going to get both of your hands dirty and probably shouldn’t get it on a first date but the messiness is worth it. It is superb.
