I simply LOVE this place and it is very close to my house! I have been looking for a good coffee shop that is close by and within walking distance that would not take too long to reach. They have an huge, varied and unique spice collection which is simply delightful! Steve is the cook of the house and he found all kinds of exotic spices that he thought would normally warrant a trip to Seattle in order to obtain so he was extremely excited to see that these items were so close! They have various books to look at too! Some are metaphysical in nature, cuisine culture and history and cook books. They have essential oils and stones to go along with those metaphysical books as well. The coffee and pastries are delightful! I got a mocha with an orange peel in it. Truly wonderful! It accented my mocha perfectly without making it too rich and giving you the impression that you are eating a decadent dessert. I had one of their slices of raw pie… maybe more like a cheesecake… a hybrid of the two from a local baker. These slices are amazing and come in three or four varieties. My favorite is the chocolate selection. The crust to these desserts are fantastic and may very well be the best part! Ubiquitous Journey is definitely going to be one of my main hangouts in regards to coffee shops! Love it!

Best tea in Tacoma. Try a tea, buy a new spice for cooking! Most tea and spice blends are made on site. I personally go to Ubu to buy spices like jerk blends, curries and infused salts(truffle or sriracha salt anyone?). The tea blends are plentiful from just delicious to healing. Home remedies are also tempting. Olfactory overload in the best way possible — sample away! The owner is really knowledgeable and friendly. A worthy adventure on 6th Ave.

This place is really cool! It’s next to my hair salon so I stopped in really quick hoping they had a snack of some sort I could much on. Wasn’t expecting to find all kinds of teas, spices, essential oils, books… just a ton of awesome stuff! Took off one star because my grilled cheese sandwich took a long time to be made. Looking forward to trying their coffee when I’m no longer pregnant.

My favorite coffee shop just recently closed its doors for good. It’s really devastating. As a mother of a 4 year old boy going on 14(attitude) and an 18 month old toddler boy going on insanity, its truly desolating to my soul that I no longer have a safe haven for myself to go to. I thought I was lost for good, stuck at home with fear that I will never have an unvarying habitual space to drink my coffee in peace and silence again. But then I remember’d Ubi’s. Ubi’s will now be my safe haven away from my kids. I will be able to read there, or not. I will be able to write there, or not. I will be able to work there, or not. I will be able to sit, and drink my coffee or tea, and to be surrounded by herbs and oils and other magical gems. I’m only leaving 1 star out because its 15 minutes away from my home. Yay for mom’s quiet time!

Best espresso in Tacoma, no contest. I typically have a plain latte which is always spot on, but their house made syrups have gotten my attention, particularly the lavender. It is difficult to resist. The licorice latte is simply stellar, the chai understated and yet somehow robust, but their shining star might be the seasonal allspice latte(not to be confused with pumpkin spice, which they also have), an espresso experience bordering on mystical. I drive from Puyallup nearly every Saturday, because well, nothing else will do.

I didn’t try the food or the coffee, but as a spice and tea shop all I can say is WOW they’re expensive! I’m not sure why, either. they don’t have anything amazing or even unusual. I asked for harissa paste and they didn’t have any. We bought a couple ounces of tea for a king’s ransom and it was handed to us in a clear plastic zip-loc bag. If you’re going to sell people tea at a higher price than any other tea store in the area, please respect your customers enough to weigh the tea into a light-tight container. From the previous reviews, I had high hopes for this store, but they’re just overpriced pretenders. They sell little that you can’t get elsewhere for a far better price.

So this place is pretty interesting. Awesome spot for fresh spices and magical grilled cheese samiches! Definitely a chill, quiet spot where you can relax and enjoy some good sandwiches. They also serve Caffe Vita which is never a bad choice. Absolutely worth checking out. The ladies here are super nice.

There’s nothing I love more these days like a quality tea shop. They are helpful, educated, and informative about what can you. This is my new one stop shop for tea. They also serve breakfast brunch and early dinners that are delicious.

WOW… why do I have to travel so far to get such an amazing cup of coffee? Travel I did though, and it was worth the flight. I tried several types/flavors of coffee, all so very good. I tried their hot chocolate: the absolute best. There is a great assortment of spices, coffees, teas for sales as well as all kinds of cute gifts and books. There’s a nice game table to hang out with your children… or friends. Fridays they have a band playing out front(I was there to hear a two piece band who did… I think… music from the ’20’s). They were incredible. Ubi’s just has the fun vibe of a place that you love to go to frequently and spend the afternoon chatting with the other customers or with the most-amazing owner Robin.

Hands down best coffee and tea on 6th ave. If you’re going to bluebeard or anywhere else, STOP, pop in and grab one of their lattes or black teas. Ingredients are simple, but the result is incredible. Not sure what it is as Ive seen the same thing on the shelves elsewhere, but just a little extra touch knocks it out.

Have had the Jalepeno grilled cheese, and the Pizza grilled cheez sandwiches. Delicious! Any vegan should know that this is the place to go & the price was a steal. Plus they have unique coffee flavors like licorice, orangecicle, lavendar & rose that I haven’t been able to see or find anywhere else.

I love this place. The«apothecary» they have set up of tea, herbs, and spices is almost magical to peruse and smell. It’s fun to order a pot of tea with a friend here, and chat, or play one of the games here, while enjoying the world’s most popular drink aside from water. The staff are always friendly and they know their tea. I’m excited to purchase some specific herbal ingredients from here and blend my own versions using a black tea base. This is a place for tea lovers.

I’ve walked by a couple of times while walking my pup. Always smells amazing walking by. My husband and I are going to be making pickles from our garden crop. They didn’t have anything on hand as far as picklong blends but the lovely gentlemen there asked what flavor we think we wanted and they made a blend for us!!! We said we’d go back with pickles once they’re done. If it’s good they’ll name it after us. Legit! We also got a coco roo iced tea and I got a hibiscus high. Good as well. Use the blue agave as a sweetener instead of the honey, the honey takes forever to dissolve. Place is super legit though!

As a holistic practitioner and as a human being, this is my new heaven. An amazing lineup of all natural loose leaf teas, spices galore, and a great selection of high-quality essential oils and supplies. Oh, and the espresso drinks are delicious, my fave in town. They use Café Vita coffee, natural flavorings, and of course really good almond milk. I have yet to try their food, but I have no worries since I will be a regular patron. I’m also excited to attend some of the events such as The Herbalist and some classes. And the books I have already easily gotten sucked into. I also liked seeing a small selection of games that you can come in and just play while you eat and sip.

I stopped in Ubi’s today for the first time and was blown away by their amazing iced salted Carmel coffee! The staff was extremely friendly and fun to chat it up with. They where knowledgable about the different teas spices oils ect. I love that they make their own syrups it’s puts a unique spin on the already unique little shop. I can’t wait to stop back in tomorrow to try out another coffee! I think I’m going to make a personal goal to test out their entire menu!

I’m from hippie laden northern California where shops like this are in fact ubiquitous so I know what I’m talking about when I say this place is the real deal. Don’t come here for cheap fast food or cheap spices. Go to Fred Meyer’s bulk section for that. Come for the herbs, advice, tea and stay for the licorice latte, down to earth hospitality and fantastic raw cheesecake while you enjoy peaceful free wifi. Did you know the owner mixes her own Chai and makes her own syrups? She does but she’s not selling her hard earned secrets so if you want the real thing you have to come to 6th and see Robyn for yourself.

$ 5 for a cup of soup??? And they only get one dollar sign on Unilocal?!No bread. Just a tiny cup of crappy soup for $ 5. I had been wanting to stop in and try this place as I live close to 6th Ave and have heard great things about Alina’s soups. I stopped in and got one cup of black bean soup and one cup of tomato soup to go. When she said it was $ 10.95 I almost asked her if she was sure but thought that maybe the soup was amazing and handmade from gold leaf eating unicorns… NOSUCHLUCK. The bean soup was ok. Little spicy. Nothing special. The tomato soup was horrible. It honestly tasted like it was spaghetti sauce thrown in a cup. I could(nor could my boyfriend) not make myself eat more than one bite. Would have been great on some spaghetti, but NOT all by itself. I will never EVER go back there! If you want soup… go to Infinite Soups. WAY cheaper and tastier too.

Awesome place to relax and have some AMAZING tea. Great environment, and a wonderful selection of books. I am stoked to see a tea shop on 6. Also, it’s not just a tea shop! They have a wide variety of spices. whoop whoop! Bonus points for being local and keeping it local.

I love black pepper. Love it. All the different varieties and flavors, from Tellicherry to Malabar, from Long Pepper to White pepper. And flavors from smoked to garlic-infused. I love the stuff. Because of this, I always go into spice shops when I find them. I am guaranteed to buy some smoked black peppercorns, no matter what. My top shop for pepper has always been in Olympia, so I was excited when this place opened in Tacoma. Anywhere closer to home to buy pepper has to be a good thing, right? Wrong. The selection was VERY spartan. Not just for pepper, but for all spices. Want your spices in a container other than a plastic bag? Costs extra. Want an opinion of what to buy? Ask someone else. I was seriously disappointed. I don’t have a high bar for spice shops. Sell smoked pepper and I’m usually happy. They did have smoked pepper here(though neither my wife nor I could smell the smokeyness in the pepper), and I did buy some. It tasted like plain pepper, and not even good plain pepper. From what I can gather, it looks like the Tacoma location is a second one(with the first having positive reviews). It really made them missing the mark that much worse. I’m hoping that they were just working out the kinks of getting started at a second location, so I’ll revisit it in a few months when I need more pepper and see how it’s going, but for now, I’d stay away.
