My wife and I eat here once a month. The waitresses are always the best, the owner is a swell guy, and the breakfast foods here are not your ordinary meal. Nothing beats hand squeezed orange juice, thick crispy bacon slices, and fancy Spanish omelets loaded with sauce, veggies, and juicy ham.

I have never been here before, but I would just like to try and help some people out by saying that this is the diner that part of the Robbers music video by The 1975 was filmed in. If I ever find myself nearby I will most defiantly be stopping in!

This place is really great. Waiters are nice and the food is really good. Really cheap too. Would recommend to everyone I know.

The food was not what I expected(in a good way). I expected food like McDonald’s but it was 10 times better. The staff was very friendly I would go there many times over. The bill was also small for a family run business which I love. Keep it up.

An old diner decorated with local gas logos/signs. We ordered the Buttermilk pancakes with eggs and bacon and biscuits with gravy. The portions were big and the prices were good. You won’t be disappointed. We also had the NICEST and SWEETEST server ever.

More than I hoped for in Taft. It was better than any Denny’s breakfast I’ve ever had. Perfect English muffin and good Spanish omelette.

— — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – I was back in town for my 50th high school reunion; and Jo’s was convenient at lunch time. I had the chicken-fried steak and eggs breakfast, including hash browns and toast. The helping was huge, the chicken-fried steak was both unexceptionable, and pretty good diner-class food; my eggs were good. Coffee was OK, although there was only creamer at the table and not half-and-half. My wife had one pancake and one egg, which she liked. Up to expectations for what they offer.

Jo’s for breakfast, it was a good meal, had one of the specials, and for what I received for the price paid, great value. The place was full on the Sunday I was there, the service was friendly, and as fast as expected. However, the coffee, like most places of this genre, was not good. Still, I would recommend it.

Pickins are slim in these parts, so after spending the night in not very scenic Maricopa, which some locals feel is being taken over/ruined by the local police, we ate at Jo’s the next morning. It’s a good, no-nonsense place where people who work really hard settle into large plates of well prepared basic food. The parking lot is chock-full-of giant trucks, and the interior is kind of «my great aunt betty meets the history of oil drilling in California.» Lacy curtains separate the booths of big people, and murals about the local area(including all the oil-drilling) cover the walls. One gal showed up with a sequined top, so this spot must be special. Be sure to look up Taft in Wikipedia, where you’ll discover the town used to be named moron. All kidding aside, it was a welcome stop, and I’d go there again.

My aunt and I were traveling to Pismo Beach from Bakersfield, CA using the road less traveled which took us through Taft, CA. We decided to drive down the town center where we discovered Jo’s Restaurant. Since we hadn’t had breakfast yet and were hungry, we decided to give it a try. Boy, are we glad we did. The atmosphere was like that of a family type restaurant that was common back in the 1960’s. The food was wonderful. Big super helping of bacon(old fashion side meat kind), eggs, hash browns, toast and biscuits/gravy at a more than reasonable price. Our coffee cups never ran dry and the service was fast and friendly. I would recommend breakfast here to anyone that asked!

Trapped in Taft, a smaller than small town north of L.A. I went here for breakfast. Interesting artwork on the walls and windows to keep you occupied for the short wait for your food. i did french toast, pretty simple, and hash browns. the food was good and the service exceptional considering the place was pretty busy when we got there and there is only one waitress/cashier.

Very friendly service. The history of this charming oil town decorates the walls. The coffee was week and not half as tasty as the fair trade organic kind I’m used to, but a hearty breakfast and very warm atmosphere.

While in Taft overnight, I wanted a good breakfast place and Jo’s is it. It is open for breakfast and lunch only. It closes, I believe, at 2PM. I had an omlette, ham and cheese, potato, and toast. This was just fine. It has inside some stuff from the oil drilling business which I think keeps Taft going. The town is around 10,000 and is a sleepy little town. Come here for breakfast.

An awfully good restaurant. My driving buddy and myself had steak and eggs with coffee for less than $ 23.00. That was the total bill. The food is great and the waitress was top notch. Call ahead as they close after 2:00PM on some days. This place is a welcome stop while driving through this region. The restrooms are clean and in very good order. I also stopped recently on a trip down Highway 33 from the King City area. My son and I saw no place to eat at first glance in Coalinga, so went down the 90 miles or so to Jo’s. My son agreed it is a great place to eat.
