We had great Mexican food here with nice chips and salsa. My chili verde burrito with their beans was better than most Mexican places I’ve been to. They make a delicious Margarita too.

Great service, staff is friendly and great Mexican food! We came here twice during our weekend getaway. You can’t beat the prices and quantity/quality of the food and the views of Lake Tahoe. They have a tavern as well and while we were eating we never heard any rowdiness. I was surprised. We will come back here on our next trip to Tahoe for sure!

We visited the place on a Monday and we were pretty late for lunch so the place was quite empty. We were visiting Tahoe for 3 days and we’re disappointed with our choice of restaurants the first two days but this place turned out to be a surprise. The service is really good and the food is yum. As others have mentioned they refill the chips and salsa frequently which tastes damn good. The chicken fajitas were too good in particular and the corn tortillas they serve with them were amazing. We were a group of 6 and everyone ordered a different dish and all the dishes were good. Also happened to taste the moscow mule here and it was fantastic. Definitely would recommend others to visit this place. Good food, good service. That’s all that needed! :)

This is a drinking place as the food is «fud» meaning it fills a void. Don’t plan on being overwhelmed if you eat here, just know you will go home full.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday, wasn’t that busy so we were seated fast. The customer service is great, refilled our chips and salsa every 5 minutes! They give you great chips that aren’t that salted, and the salsa they give is mild and hot. The mild is my favorite in my opinion. The food came out really fast after we had ordered. The food was great, nice and hot. But sucks that the charge $ 1.75 for sour cream, $ 3.25 for guacamole, and $ 1 for meat for each item. But what do you expect, it’s Tahoe! I guess if you don’t want to eat, they also have a game room and bar connected as well.

The place gets two stars for service, they keep you well watered and full of chips while you wait forever for your crappy food. My food was cold and the cheese was not melted. The beans were very salty. Mediocre at best.

My sister was getting married and we didn’t have a lot of time to plan it. I called a few local restaurants and Blue Agave was luckily one of them. I spoke with the owner, Steve, and he was so helpful. He helped me plan the menu and how much food we needed. The prices were extremely reasonable. When the day finally arrived they were flexible with us when we had to pick up our order a little earlier than originally planned. We were still early and my dad and I sat in the bar. Let me just say their margaritas are delicious. We had some guacamole and chips and salsa. Everything was awesome. When the food was ready they had organized it well in boxes and gave us plenty of utensils and chips and salsa. They even helped us carry it to our car. At the reception people raved about the food! We had plenty so everyone was able to get seconds, we even had some leftovers! This place is pretty awesome! I couldn’t be happier with our experience and we are so grateful!

Spent a lot of time looking for a great restaurant to go to up here in Tahoe. This restaurant was amazing, fantastic food, service, atmosphere and serving size. We were seated right away and arrived quickly with extremely tasty and well put together food. If I could give this restaurant more then 5 stars I would. Many restaurants up and around Tahoe have really gone down hill over the years with quality. It is obvious that the other restaurants are using other vendors for their meats etc because the taste has gone down hill. Glad that this restaurants still uses great product and recipes. Keep up the good work we will be back.

Horrible service. We came here with a group of 11 adults and 2 kids. The restaurant was less than half full. We got a big table in a room to ourselves which was nice. The service was horrible. Our group showed up over a 20 minute period. When I got there I had to wait so long for a drink order that I ran out of water and still waited. I ordered a house margarita and it wasn’t my favorite. Taste is subjective so you might like it. After my margarita ran out the waiter didn’t come back for 10 minutes. Most of us had ordered drinks and we all ran out and waited for refills more than once. They missed out on a lot of money. I decided against extra drinks because I had to wait so long. As for the food it was mediocre. I had a beef chimichanga and refried beans. The beans were starting to cool off and become firm. The Guac was warm and it was served In a bowl with sour cream, which should be cold too. I won’t be back.

Do you ever walk by a place and it smells so good that you know the food is going to be amazing?! That’s what happened to us with Blue Agave. Gorgeous Sunday afternoon up in Tahoe and we find ourselves starving so we consult Unilocal and start walking toward a burger joint. As we walk by Blue Agave we are wooed in by the amazing aroma wafting out. They seat us at a nice table on the patio– ample shade and a nice view. We had plenty of time to look over the menu. So much time in fact that I had completely forgotten 1. that we hadn’t ordered and 2. What I was going to order, by the time the server came around. We did get chips and salsa brought to us and water so no one was in danger of me eating their extremities. We asked the server what his favourites were and went from there. We wound up ordering carnitas tacos(servers recommendation), a chicken burritto(daily special), and a shrimp quesadilla prepared like a veggie so it would come with zucchini and cilantro. We happily munched on the chips and salsa which were quite tasty and, unbeknownst to us, the highlight of the meal. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time. But perhaps if they had taken a few minutes more they could have seasoned it? It was hands down American Mexican food. No flavour, no spice. It was good, but just good. I might have been happier with Taco Bell and I don’t really eat fast food… My shrimp quesadilla had no cilantro(ahem, I had confirmed 3 times with the waiter), the taco was underwhelming and the burrito was just a burrito. I think our server must have been the only one working because he was super hard to find. oh until he dropped the check and took payment. He brought the CC slip back in under 1 minute when I had to wait 5AND flag him down to get cilantro… The prices are average Tahoe and I generally don’t have a problem with that but when the food is mediocre it’s a rip off. Both Incline and Kings Beach have GREAT Mexican Food that is worth the drive-so next time that’s what I will do. Hey so… what I still don’t get is how the tasty smell mislead us? Do they pipe in the aroma of authentic Mexican food? Is that something you can buy? Moral of the story– stick with chips and salsa and beverages if you choose to give them your business.
