i have lived in north Lake Tahoe for years, but whenever I happen to be on the west shore I stop at PDQ for something. The sandwiches are huge and incredible, even the half lasts me for two meals. But today I tried the Green Chili soup. It was AWESOME… If you are on the west shore anywhere near here youi have to stop. And the biscuits and gravy in the morning are great too, but they are usually gone by 9:30.

Wow, just had a roast beef on jalapeño bread! Maybe the best sandwich I’ve had in years. Walked down the street from my buddies house I am loving Tahoma! Can’t wait to come back and visit very soon. I am thinking the West Shore has replaced Truckee as my favorite place on earth.

This great little market offers some pretty amazing sandwiches. Today I ordered the turkey breast on whole wheat with Swiss cheese and all the fixin’s. At $ 5.99, it was big enough to completely satisfy me. The best part about the sandwich was the BREAD, which they make here daily. The gal making the sandwiches was sweet and helpful — always a plus! Next time you are passing through Tahoma, these guys a try. You won’t regret it!

PDQ deli sandwiches are famous. Truly. It is now a part of the Tahoe experience for many. There isn’t a place to sit, but that’s why you get it TOGO and take it to meeks bay, sugar pine, or hurricane bay for a lake view seating.

Best sandwiches ever! The bread, oh… the bread! Fresh every day and so perfectly yummy! I have been coming here forever– always get the jalepeno cheese bread, turkey with everything and with the best sweet & hot mustard(I could drink it). The sandwiches are huge — great to share. The employees are super friendly! Tons of other yummy things in the store to add to your sandwich. The coffee is great if you want to stop by and get a cup before heading to The Lake. There’s something yummy there that will please everyone!

This sandwich shop is as good as it gets! During a week stay in Tahoe, we ordered sandwiches on two occasions. Everyone loved them! First, the size and the price of the sandwiches can’t be beaten — a half sandwich for $ 6 is a meal. Second, the homemade gourmet breads are fantastic! And the meats and cheeses are all high quality. A perfect takeaway lunch spot on Tahoe’s West Shore. Only negative — Holiday weekend lunch lines can be long, but the food is worth it.

Stopped here thinking they had a dining room, and was initially disappointed to find it is «only» a deli. The disappointment did not last long however as their sandwiches are delicious. A variety of breads are baked on the premises daily. I ordered Pastrami on White with most of the vegetable options and spicy mustard. Ordering a «while» sandwich vs a «half» means you get a whole loaf to yourself filled with your selections. The bread is delicious, fillings too and certainly no skimping on anything. Great little general store/market too. We ended up enjoying our sandwiches a few miles down the road overlooking Emerald Bay. Couldn’t have been much better.

A life long resident in Homewood recommended PDQ for their deli sandwiches. Thank God for local knowledge! We ordered huge custom sandwiches on baked fresh breads. Awesome!!! Service was friendly and quick and it was obvious that it is a local favorite due to the traffic. They also have lots of beverage and chips’ selections to go. Summary: killer sandwiches, quick service and friendly people!

By the looks of this place on the outside, you wouldn’t think there was a super great deli inside with house made bread used for the sandwiches. The PDQ Market is the main grocery store for this side of the Lake, but it’s still pretty small. The clerks seemed friendly and helpful. What we came here for after experiencing a crappy place in Tahoe City, was some sandwiches to take with us for lunch out on the Lake. I’ve had theor sandwiches here before and they are stupendously huge and tasty! The deli in in the rear of the store. It does get crowded at times, cause the sandwiches here are so famous! You pick a number from the ticket machine thingy. The numbers actually move pretty fast. The first time I came here, I saw sandwiches listed as whole $ 8.75 and half for $ 5.50 or something. At first I’m thinking $ 8.75 for a sandwich, picturing a sandwich made with 2 slices of bread wit meat inside … kind of a lot for $ 8.75, but OK, it Tahoe! Then they started making the sandwich and I saw just how big the bread was … they used a whole damn loaf of house baked bread to make one sandwich! For $ 8.75, that way worth it, you can feed 2 people easy! I’m guessing that loaf is 10 –11 inches long and puffy. They have all kind of yummy flavors of bread, not just white or wheat and sourdough, but I had a cheese pesto bread that was delicious! The meat choices are you standard deli choices of roast beef, turkey, salami type stuff and tuna or even egg salad! Your choice of cheeses are included in the price. I put my order in to 2 whole sandwiches of turkey provolone and roast beef with cheddar. They call your number when it done and you take it to the front to pay. Might as well pick up some snacks here as well. We’re well stocked on beer, but we can always use Cheetoes! This was a way better experience than that other deli bakery we tried to get sandwiches at. You gotta come and check this place out if you are on the west side of the Lake!

PDQ’s deli sandwiches are AMAZING. The deli is located at the back of the market. The sandwiches are made to order: you pick your bread, your meat, your cheese, your veggies/toppings, and your mustard. Bread selections include white, wheat, pesto, garlic, cheese, and jalapeño. Meat selections include turkey, roast beef, ham, pastrami, or salami. Cheese options include cheddar, swiss, provolone, pepper jack, muenster, and American. For veggies, options are lettuce, tomato, pickles, peppers, onions, mayo, or everything(the works). And finally the mustard, which include sweet mustard or spicy mustard or yellow mustard or habanero mustard. So many options made it a bit difficult and I had to spend a lot of time thinking. Thank goodness the deli guy was so patient with me! I like spicy, so I ended up picking the jalapeño bread, turkey, muenster cheese, the works, and the habanero mustard. You can either get a whole sandwich or a half sandwich. The half sandwich is quite big and is more than enough for one person. But it is cheaper to get the whole sandwich and split it with someone, if you both don’t mind getting the same sammie. The bread is so delicious. You can actually just buy their bread after 5 or 530, which they will sell by itself as «day-old» bread. The jalapeño bread isn’t all that spicy though. They are generous with the meat and fixings too. That habanero mustard has a really good kick to it. Excellent combination, if I do say so myself! The sandwich was so delicious. Just thinking about it right now is making me hungry. Can’t wait to visit this place again for another of their amazing deli sandwiches!

What a great local establishment. Everything there is reasonably priced, but the sandwiches are pretty unreal. First of all, they make their bread fresh and it is fantastic. Second, the sandwiches are HUGE. Third they are fantastic sandwiches and they go heavy on the meat. Finally, its only 10 bucks for basically 2 sandwiches. As if this place could get any better, I bought a scratcher and I won… another ticket… which I lost on. I go here every time I am in the area, and it’s perfect if you want to bring a sandwich on a hike or for a picnic.

Fantastic store if you’re staying on the west shore. The selection is much larger than most general stores with great election on alcohol(beer wine liquor), produce, dry goods(pastas, rice, bread, etc.). They offer amazing breakfast eggwich sandwiches which don’t last long so act fast and early if you want them. Come with bacon, sausage or ham and they are cheap ~$ 3 – 4. The deli is the true prize here. Samir’s are huge, the bread is awesome and made onsite which gives the store a great smell, there is a solid amount of meat and comes with all options for fixins. You had me at habanero mustard! The only scary thing is parking here which is right off the Highway/lake blvd. Parking in is fine but backing out into the highway can be scary if you’re not safe or if there are more cars driving than normal. I’ve yet to see any accidents and the speed limit is 35 here but just be careful!

When it comes to deli sandwiches, Tahoma Market sure offers plenty of bang for your buck! These sandwiches are HUGE(like the size of footballs). So unless you’re a 300 lb linebacker, you may want to just settle for the half sandwich(which is less than $ 5). I wound up getting a basic smoked turkey with lettuce, tomato, mayo, spicy mustard on freshly baked cheese bread. This isn’t by any means the best sandwich I’ve ever tasted(this ain’t Ike’s!), but it certainly does the trick. While the bread is chewy and made in-house, I felt that it dominated the other ingredients, rather than accentuated them(as pretentious as that sounds). But still, for less than $ 8 I was able to get a big-ass sandwich, a sparkling water, and some chips. Try finding THAT in the Bay Area. In addition to its deli, Tahoma Market also sells a bunch of touristy knock-knacks, including shirts, sunglasses, video rentals, and hats! In fact, I purchased a straw fedora for only $ 8! All in all, Tahoma Market isn’t the world’s best mini-mart. But for Tahoe, it certainly hits the spot. And it’s the perfect place to stop if you’re looking to picnic at nearby Chambers Landing.

Little market with a deli in the back. Sandwiches are HUGE… full is more than enough to split between 2 people. Their bread makes the sandwiches… fresh, soft, crunchy crust, multiple options like garlic or jalapeño. Yum. The rest of the stuff is basic sandwich insides but you can pick and choose what goes in. 9 $ for two to eat and be satisfied.

So after checking my Unilocal for sandwiches, we stopped off at the PDQ. It’s close to the cabin we were staying at in Homewood. This is quite the store in the area. A good place to stock up on food and supplies you need for a great vacation. I saw the self serve sandwich bar and thought, this can’t be it. We almost left thinking that was it. I walked through the store and to the back where you can order up custom sandwiches from the deli. The whole sandwich is huge and served on your choice of home baked bread. We chose the jalapeño cheese bread and I let my guy choose everything else. We ordered up a big deli pickle which they cut up for us. We took our big sandwich and a couple sodas to the beach, where we enjoyed another lunch in the sun.
