What a great shopping experience. The store is bright and airy, and recently remodeled(sadly, moving the men’s department to the second floor…). It’s worth the escalator ride upstairs, as Belk has one of the best men’s departments in the area. The selection is quite broad, and the clothing logically arranged. And unlike other department stores, the shelves and tables are kept clean, and the clothes are folded and organized. If you have a choice as to when to shop in the men’s department, come on the weekend, when Barry is working. You will not find a kinder, more attentive salesperson. He goes out of his way to help you search for the particular items you want in the sizes you need. And, in what I think makes shopping at Belk a great experience, after ringing you up Barry will walk around the counter to hand you you your shopping bag. It is a classy thing to do, and I get a broad smile every time. It is the shall touches like that that make Barry an exceptional salesperson, and Belk a great place to shop. I’d ignore the dated one and three star reviews. Belk has a great selection, at a reasonable price, in a nice shopping environment.

I’m a bit confused with the«24 Hour Shopping Service» label on Unilocal, but… I probably shop at Belk(loathe as I am to pay full retail at ANY department store) more than I do at the other department stores in Tallahassee, as the Tallahassee Mall, and therefore Belk(and ONLY Belk — last man standing!) are closer to my house than Governor’s Square. They have pretty much the types of goods you’d expect from a department store. I can really only speak to the men’s clothing section: Good selection of Ralph Lauren, Columbia, and numerous other men’s brands. Also a nice selection of dress shirts and a decent selection of low-price formal wear /suits. Prices are normal department store level, but you are getting a higher quality product than, say, Walmart clothing which will basically evaporate after three washes. My only real complaint is that the customer service is very hit-or-miss. I’ve never had anyone be unfriendly like the other review, Gayathri, but I have noticed that, many times, I can browse within eyesight of an associate or two for a good 5 – 8 minutes without any acknowledgement or them coming over to ask if I need any assistance. Normally this is fine, as I like to be left alone when I browse, but sometimes I DO need assistance(«the Dillard’s treatment») and I’d like a bit more attention.

Wow, rude, rude, rude. We went in there to get some perfume gift boxes for Christmas gifts. Granted it was the busy holiday time, but there is no excuse for literally zero help and the rudeness we experienced. We waited for nearly 25 minutes by the perfume counter, while 3 different sales people were busy making small talk and jokes with other customers. One of them, a middle-aged white lady, even told us to find someone else to help us while she was busy giggling on her cell phone and waved us off with her hand. All she had to do was hand us those boxes. WTF? Too bad I had no time, otherwise I would have tried to get the store manager.
