The Cabot Lodge is my five star destination any time I’m heading for Tallahassee(and with an elderly parent there, that was pretty often from 2011 – 2013! The hospitality here is just outstanding! The rooms are comfortable(and on the one occasion when my bed was not, I was moved immediately.). I recommend the executive kings on the fifth floor, but the service, the breakfast and the smiles are identical whatever room you choose. There is a 5 – 7:30PM Happy Hour each day with wine, beer and mixed cocktails — as well as a popcorn cart. And they don’t skimp! The drinks are full measure, they remember your preference, even bring you a «last call» drink if you’re sitting with an empty at 7:28 and they aren’t slammed. Oh, and friends or family are welcome to join you as well! «Mary», who often tends bar, is destined for great things: what a wonderful personality and great initiative! The manager, Kathy, I believe, was extremely helpful, as was all the staff. Since my last visit involved two oxygen set ups(from different companies!) a very elderly gentleman who required a wheelchair, and a last, desperate, three day extension of my stay… over a solidly booked FSU football weekend…(«No problem!»)… is it any wonder that I wish there were a Cabot Lodge in every town I visit? Thank you, Cabot Lodge, for making all those evenings so enjoyable and the nights so comfortable!

Cabot Lodge came highly recommended by a friend when I needed a place to crash in Tally. It was a decent hotel, a little old and shabby, but fairly clean. Our room smelled a bit like mildew which was less than ideal, but it was comfortable enough. The lobby is decorated as a hunting lodge and the staff all dress in safari gear. It was a bit like everyone wanted to be Jack Hanna and I kept expecting someone to bust out a bush baby or honey glider for the educational segment, but the staff was friendly and helpful. Cabot Lodge offers the standard breakfast buffet with eggs, biscuits and gravy out of a package. But everything was very good. A unique feature is their free cocktail hour — beers and wine — with free popcorn in the evenings. It was a decent hotel and met our needs, but I wasn’t blown away and am not sure it would be tops on my list for a return trip.

I was driving through town with my family of 4 on a road trip, and got caught in a famous Florida thunderstorm that just would not quit. It was dark out, so we pulled over and tried to find an inexpensive place to spend the night using our iphones. Many places were sold out, and some were too expensive for us(over $ 120 for a room with two queen beds). We found a room at the Cabot Lodge right away for $ 109. I was very happy when I arrived and saw that it was more than a tiny roadside dump(the kinds of places we usually stay when on the road). The desk staff was friendly and fun to talk with. There was a full lobby, lots of staff, and the room was very pleasant. The bathrooms were modern and clean, and there was a hairdryer and coffee, but NOMINIFRIDGE. That was a bit perplexing, but I guess it wasn’t the most important thing in the world that night, so I’m still giving 4 stars. There was a controllable thermostat in the AC, and the AC was cold and quiet. The bed had a nice thin down comforter on it, as opposed to one of those nasty polyester bed spreads. The pillows were great as well– not too soft or firm, and plenty of them. Free fancy shampoo and conditioner and mini soaps. In the AM we ventured into the«lodge» area for the free breakfast. They had a make your own waffle station, make your own toast or bagels station, scrambled(probably reconstituted) eggs, biscuits and gravy, cereal, Dannon yogurt, cereals, fresh apples and bananas, OJ, milk, cran juice, and(weak, but what do you expect) coffee. The woman running the dining area was wonderful to chat with, and greeted all the guests warmly as they entered. A great bargain for the price we paid.

The staff is always friendly and willing to assist. Stayed here numerous times over the past 15 years. The happy hour is a big draw, but the facility is in need of a makeover if they wish to continue to complete with the other chains. Overall not bad for the price.

Rooms are clean and comfortable, complimentary breakfast is also nice, and overall it’s a decent hotel. Not the best, but certainly not the worst.
