this is the second time I have eaten here. the menu is pretty simple, IF you were to be confused, at all, it might bebetween the KING and The CAmEL. this time I had up graded the entrée/sandwich to a drink and side salad combo for 5 $ more. the options are babaganoush? hummus? and something else. the point is, gyro meat on peta bread coupled with a fresh yogurt and dill tsaki sauce is awesome.

Amazing locally owned eatery. Big tip: call ahead if you don’t have the time as they make everything fresh. Super tasty, the deluxe is great. Recommended! I think they close by 2PM and closed on Sundays so yeah. Call ahead! Support the locally owned businesses! Cheers!

Sketchy but good. You can never go wrong with a gyro from Pete’s, there is so much flavor that you may be overwhelmed with satisfaction. I have come to associate this restaurant with gyros, I don’t think I want gyros anymore, I want Captain Pete’s. The only thing I don’t like is that they only open for lunch, living near by I sure which they were open for dinner. Other than this I have been coming here for years and will continue to come as long as they are open, the service is great and the food is outstanding. Until next time Pete’s

I love the food here! It’s a small, almost secret location, but the food packs huge Mediterranean flavor! My fiancé and I are addicted to the deluxe gyro(all the fixins plus tons of feta and homemade tzatziki) and order it every time we eat here. I’ve also tried a few of the other dishes on the menu(falafel, hummus, baklava and spinacopita) and am yet to be disappointed!!! The hours of operation are only from 11 – 230(no dinner) but that is my only complaint! I definitely recommend if you are looking for delicious Greek dishes for lunch! Call ahead I you are in a hurry though, they cook everything fresh and to order!

I try and find hidden Greek restaurants as I travel for work in Florida and Georgia. This was one of the best falafels and the baklava was awesome too. I will be back to try the rest of the menu.

The seat cushions are falling apart so they are ducked taped together. I didn’t mind. All I was interested in was the actual food. I was pleasantly surprised to see«souvlaki» and not«kebab» listed on the menu. I ordered it promptly though they don’t do fries. No biggie, I got the healthier option of a side of Greek salad. The salad wasn’t bad though they did go a bit overboard with the feta. As far as the souvlaki is concerned, it wasn’t horrible but it didn’t taste anything like souvlaki. It was actually cooked in some kind of tomato sauce! Definitely NOT Greek souvlaki.

They may be a little out of the way but they make up for it in flavor! This house of gyro goodness has amazing falafel, portions big enough to satiate even the deepest hunger, and amicable service. Which pairs perfectly with the Greek Seasoning Salt and Hot Sauce available to top off your plate. Add some feta for an extra dollar, they’re not joking with that feta. Wait time was a little long but that may be because the line did not quit! Lunch rush? Possible… Gyro Fever? Definitely Treat yourself Make it a combo — Savory option: chips Faint of heart option: salad Sweet tooth grab life by the balls option: baklava

The food was fresh, made to order and faster than others reviewed. But I made the mistake of ordering the falafel, a favorite food of mine. It was the weirdest falafel I have ever had. It was mashed into the lettuce and the tahini tastes a bit like almond butter. Would try one more time the gyros which did look good.

It’s not a fast food joint, you wait for fresh food. It’s a local family owned/run restaurant. Sip some mint tea while you wait, it’s worth it. I usually get the Deluxe & the baklava. Call ahead if you are in a hurry. They take the WFSU member card!

i feel it is overpriced for what you get. The seating is in rough shape and needs replacing. There was one person ahead of us and we waited 30 minutes for gyros.

I’ve been wanting to check out this place for awhile now. I finally was able to go for lunch on a Saturday. I ordered a King gyro and baklava to go. It came out to be about $ 11. I came home, opened my meal, and saw an average sized gyro that was packed full of tzatziki sauce(which I wasn’t complaining because I love tzatziki sauce). I finished my gyro and was not impressed. Nothing incredible, the pita bread was a little tough and the meat wasn’t anything amazing. I thought at least I have the baklava. I opened the little bag the baklava came in. I was a little disappointed at the price I paid for such a small piece of baklava. It was just a normal triangular piece of baklava, and it tasted okay. I really wished it could’ve been more, but I was left a little unsatisfied.

The pita is tough and unyielding like some weird kind of flat bread made out of brown rice or chickpeas or something. The meat seems like low quality even compared to other gyro meat which is pretty much always low quality. Seemed rather dry too. The tzatziki is incredibly overpowering(I’m guessing the recipe is 2 parts garlic, 2 parts dill, 1 part Greek yogurt). All in all probably the worst gyros I’ve ever had. The fact that they’re only open a couple hours a day is an act of mercy.

I had heard they had the best Gyros in town and I was not disappointed. Beware that they are only open from 11am until 2pm Monday through Saturday. I was traveling through Tallahassee and arrived just in time to be served. The Deluxe Gyro was worth the trip.

50 minutes for a gyro. So…yeah, everything I write, is seen through the lens of that 50 minute wait. 50 minutes for a gyro. Really?!? It’s a friggen’ gyro. I’ve never been to Greece, but my understanding is that it’s basically fast-ish food, right? Imagine waiting 50 minutes for a burger — my guess is, you’d be pretty ticked off, no matter how amazing the burger was and no matter how much care had been taken in preparing it if you had to wait 50MINUTESFOR A BURGER! I know I can’t fairly judge how the food tasted; I think it was mostly good, but the proprietors shot themselves in the foot by making us wait in an overly warm room for nearly an hour. We won’t be going back. Captain Pete, if you’re reading this, do yourselves a favor and hire a consultant to help streamline your systems. The people working were visibly hustling and giving it the good ol’ college try to get people served, but a 50 minute wait is a bit absurd, don’t you think?

Captain Pete’s has been on the Capital Circle across from the prison forever. Maybe 20 years… I hope the lady of the house finds a way to pass on her falafel recipe because it is the best falafel I have ever had anywhere in the world. It is the star attraction here but all of their daily specials and gyro plates are just fine. Very casual; not really any table service. You stand at the counter to order and have to listen for your order called out to go get it and pay. Very busy at lunchtime — this should tell you all you need to know. It’s worth it.

Stopped in before the lunch rush for carryout. The service was slow, orders placed after mine were delivered before mine. It’s probably best to order ahead of time if you want carry out. The camel rider and greek salad were just OK. The unsweetened mint tea was excellent. The small piece of Baklava was good.

Capt. Pete’s is located in a strip of businesses by the industrial plaza. Look for the red sign that says House of Gyros in BIG letters and Capt. Petes in teeny maybe even tiny letters. The inside looks like a less fancy version greek restaurant from My Big Fat Greek Wedding. If you recall… that wasn’t fancy either. The typical loud blue colors and columns are here to distract you from the lack of other décor. The menu is posted above on the wall. King, Deluxe, Camelrider, and some other stuff. I still have no idea what they mean or contain… but I know they are sandwiches. I went for the advertised combo meal. I got a Deluxe gyro, side item, drink, and one piece of baklava for $ 10. The side items available to me were salad and some sort of bland potato rice dish. The sandwich was eh… it would have probably been better if the ends of some of the meat weren’t burnt. The sauce was really good and the sandwich wsa huge. The baklava was way to sweet. Opt for the salad even if you don’t eat salads… save your tastebuds from the bland geriatric potato dish. I guess this ok for Tallahassee standards as I don’t know of any other gyro places around here… this place wouldn’t last in Orlando.
