We learned about Coosh’s a few years ago and have enjoyed the food there immensely. We have had a variety of dishes — from Po’ Boys to salads to gumbo to his unbelievable Bayou Blue Burger. Coosh makes the absolute best Blue Cheese salad dressing we’ve ever had but don’t ask for the recipe. We’ve tried to no avail. Save room for the scrumptious desserts made by Mrs. Coosh — the White Chocolate Bread Pudding and the Mississippi Mud Pie are the best. You can’t ask for better Cajun food than Coosh’s — his Mama taught him and she knew what she was doing!

Disappointed in this place. I know Cajun/Creole cooking and this ain’t it! At least not what I had. Gumbo lacked any spice or real flavor. The fried crawfish and fried shrimp batter was plain, with no real flavor. No roulade sauce to dip in the fried food. The fries had a ton of their homemade seasoning but still had no kick and the seasoning was some odd concoction, but not Cajun or Creole. The best part was the Abita beer on draft. No real bargain with the pricing as most entrees were $ 13 to $ 15 and up. Too much for this bland food. Sorry guys. keep trying and if you are looking for real Cajun keep looking…

I hate the two star thing but unfortunately they just kind of shot themselves in the foot on our visit. Visited a bit late on a Thursday, place wasn’t overly busy, was seated quickly, took a minute for server but nothing really to complain about, table /booth was a bit old, little dirty. Menu is interesting, they cover a lot of ground, being our first time we went for their forte, Cajun, tried a cup of the gumbo, not outstanding, a bit watery, flavor wasn’t bad but consistency was poor not to mention, not a piece of okra in it and it was luke warm at best, no excuse for temp issues. I had the etouffe, flavor profile was good but again, Luke warm, even the rice, why? I don’t get it, it would have been a decent product if it had been hot but twice in a visit we got luke warm product, again, inexcusable. My girl tried the chicken dish item with the unpronounceable name, lol, blackened chicken with cheese grits and a vegetable medley, chicken was decent but not truly blackened, blackening seasoned, but not blackened, the vegetable medley was a shredded slaw of sorts, not hot, again,(seeing a pattern here) and simply not attractive or very tasty, cheese grits were boring, really nothing to them, a fair rendition but nothing to write home about. Service was decent, overall experience not so much, we’ll be back to see if it was just a bad night, I’m hoping so because good Cajun food is hard to find, I’m hoping we have one here in tally but first take wasn’t promising.

Skip this place for breakfast. Over priced and poor food quality. If you enjoy eggs that taste like they were cooked in lard this is the place for you. Service is ok. Overall a disappointing eating experience.

Overall, Coosh’s has an interestingly bizarre menu, but still delicious! I came here with a group of friends after hearing about their fried gator. As a non-Floridian, this seemed like something so bizarre that just had to be tasted. We tried out the plate vs. the appetizer, which has a lot more gator, and with fries as well. It was fried well and good, but I don’t know exactly what I thought gator should taste like. It was odd and maybe, only maybe, something to order again. Otherwise, I ordered the shrimp and grits, which comes out in a huge pool with cajun sausage to even it out. Man, was it good! This was maybe my 3rd time trying grits and definitely the best. Come prepared to take some home, though, as you simply will not be able to eat the entire bowl. Thanks for a delicious meal Coosh’s!

We enjoy Coosh’s. Cajun type food but lots of other options too. Locally owned… food has been good each time we have visited. They have a club now that is a nice perk… they send emails with discounts.

Great food, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, good prices. We don’t go out to eat often so when we do we’re picky. Coosh’s is one of our three favorites in Tallahassee. We haven’t had a bad meal here; my personal favorite is the Buffalo Chicken PoBoy. the flavor is just right and MAN wish I could make chicken that tender!

Group of six there for Sunday lunch. Service was outstanding, but three who had gumbo all thought it kind of thin. Same three had muffalettas and they tasted more of grilled cheese than the meat and olive salad in a typical cold(not pressed) sandwich. I would go back to try the po boys

I had the taste for Louisiana food and this place did not disappoint. The food was filling, good, and authentic. Will definitely frequent during the new year and during Mardi Gras time!

Coosh’s is my husband’s favorite restaurant in town and we frequent the place often. I have no idea what authentic Cajun food should be like, but I do know that the food at Coosh’s is good! I typically order the Buffalo Chicken wrap(not exactly Cajun, I know), but sometimes branch out to the Jambalaya Pasta or a sampler plate with Red Beans and Rice, Crawfish Etoufée, and Jambalaya. The Hush Puppies are good, and we love the seasoning on their fries, which you can buy a can of at the front. The Muffins are gigantic and amazing — moist, fluffy, and flavorful. Breakfast is a good treat featuring Cajun fare like Beignets, and Shrimp and Grits, along with the usual eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, etc. The biscuits are a personal favorite of mine. Coosh’s always has a selection a Abita beers on tap, another reason my husband loves the place. They make a delicious Hurricane as well. We love Coosh’s!

This is real Cajun food! If you love Cajun food I’d give this place a try. I personally love the Jambalaya pasta and I get that every time I go to the restaurant.

Good atmosphere, and a decent beer selection. The food is very good, and the deserts are to die for. I’ve been there with my kids, and also taken family from out of town to try it as well. Everyone has enjoyed it. I’m partial to the Fried Fish basket, with fries and huspuppies.

Started out with fried dill pickles and hush puppies. Both were great. The pickles were not too greasy, cooked perfect, crispy. Water wasn’t good, but the sodas were. Assuming it was their city water. We ordered shrimp poboy, french dip poboy, BBQ pork poboy, and chicken tender basket. All of us loved the poboys!!! We would all eat there again. I recommend trying it. Only suggestion is to put BBQ sauce throughout rather than just on top. The French dip was good, but for a more authentic messy roast beef poboy you will have to go somewhere else. The chicken tenders wasn’t a hit with my daughter. They are battered with a cornmeal batter. They were a bit dry. I liked them, but she didn’t. The fries are seasoned with their own can spice. Not my favorite, but pretty good. Not overpowering. Shout out to Joey… our waiter… good job and sense of humor!

With Angelette’s no more, and Good Time Charlie’s a relic of the last millennia, Coosh’s is the only Cajun-themed restaurant to carry the tradition in TLH. For those of you who remember The Mill, Coosh’s was part of that Muffin Magic back in the day. Yes, the muffins ARE from The Mill. Every bit as good! Interior décor is sports-bar, and the TV count is substantial for multiple events. Very clean and orderly. Paint is crisp and furniture is well kept. Today’s fare for four included two muffins(poppy seed & chocolate chocolate chip), scrambled cheese eggs, and the Boudin Grits(mine). I enjoyed the plate. Our server was gracious and attentive. I can’t put my finger on why this isn’t five stars — but four stars is a good score!(It might have something to do with the ambiance. For example, there was no audible background music. I can always pick up on when music is absent!).

Good Cajun food, especially compared to what else Tallahassee has to offer. The portions are a little small for the prices at both breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is decent and a good way to switch it up from the other spots in town. I had chicken and waffles and it was good and nicely portioned, but at $ 9 it should have come with bacon or something. Their beignets are really good. Have been for dinner and that was also good as well(have tried Cajun pasta, étouffée, gumbo). Main issue with this place is the service is only so/so, depending on which server you get. Definitely worth a try!

I always get good food and service at Coosh’s. Love the muffalettas and poboys. Delicious muffins and desserts, including a fantastic peanut butter pie. The only thing that could make this place better would be if they tweeted which muffins and desserts are available each day.

I have tried to eat there twice. I said«tried’ because I actually didn’t get to eat there the first time I went. I went there with family and friends. The place was packed, so after speaking with the hostess, we stood by the door and patiently waited. 20 minutes later, another group of people that just got there went straight to an empty table they saw. The hostess just shrugged her shoulders and did nothing. The waiting list/line apparently didn’t mean anything. This was my first experience at Coosh’s. In August 2013, my sister-in-law visited us from Atlanta, so we decided to give Coosh’s another try. We got there around 11 am, so this time we had no problem getting the seats. However, the food was horrible(cold and tasteless). After we told our waiter that the food was not as good as we expected, the owner came out and try to argue with us. I guess he was offended that someone would said something negative about his food. He said to my husband the food he made was not supposed to taste like what your mom made(He was from Louisiana originally) and that his gumbo was award winning, so we didn’t know what we talked about. So RUDE! We have not and will not go back again.

Pretty good. Had the sampler with the gumbo, crawfish étouffée, and jambalaya(see picture). My favorite was the crawfish étouffée which was creamy and good although not as much rice as one would expect. Gumbo was good too and jambalaya had an odd brown color but was okay. A little too oily but the sausage was appetizing. Hubby had a fried crawfish poboy and I loved it. Very crispy and fresh. The bread was light and fluffy and the remoulade. He liked it too. Overall, friendly waitress, nice atmosphere, not loud. All and all, I would come back.
