Food was good but what really GOTME was the so called«TWOFORONEMARGARITTAS». They charge you $ 12.00 for ONE and give you ONE free. BULLSHIT!!! NOWHERECHARGES $ 12.00FOR A LARGEMARGARITTA. I brought it to the managers attention and he TOTALLY blew me off. Hey… at least call it a Happy Hour Special but it is NOT a 2 for 1 special.

Good food and good prices. Table side guacamole is awesome. Fish tacos are excellent as well. 2 for 1 on some drinks too is nice. The staff is friendly and it’s become one of our new favorites in town.

Worst El Jalisco ever, but also one of the worst restaurant experiences ever. Constant, long, wait to be seated for everyone. Half of the tables were empty. We eventually just took a table outside. Employees keep asking who our server was. Eventually I saw a child laughing. It was the first smile I’d seen on anyones face. That was the first hour. The second hour wasn’t much better. I normally only post 5 star reviews. Going on is making me sad but I feel it’s important. They ran out of Margarita mix, receipt paper, ordering at the bar became a problem. Then we got a server. That helped little. Maybe she didn’t speak English, or Spanish, but the English words she knew were pronounced well. Ex «what are your top two recommendations?» «yes» The menu changed, also overpriced. Nothing looked good. After ordering, it tasted like dog food meat. The order was wrong. Etc. I mean just awful everything. And I’m skipping details. I still tipped well and had a good time because my friend in the restaurant business found this astonishing and we kept joking but I must have been to 100 of these el Jalisco s by now and this was like none other; in the worst way. Product bad, but service worse. It was daylight evening on a Monday and they were Over staffed, at half capacity, acting overwhelmed.

I pull the«one star» reviews out very infrequently, but my last visit definitely warranted it. I met 6 other guys for drinks and to watch the game on the back deck. We sat at the bar, a bar that was splintering and separating due to weather and lack of maintenance. We «shared» the bartender that also worked inside, but the outside bar was a secondary focus for her as there were piles of dirty dishes in the corner of the bar and she was rarely around. Two kegs were blown as we sat there, and there wasn’t an apparent backup keg to tap. What did flow from the tap, when the bartender came out to ask, was warm and didn’t taste very fresh(guessing the lines weren’t all that clean — or the product sat in the lines in a warm state too long). Chips and salsa were very slow coming, and the order of nachos I put in took more than a half hour to get. They came out in about 15 minutes once we asked a passing server to check on them. Our bartender told us that the nachos would have come out faster had she made them, but that we didn’t want her to cook our food. She also assured us, again after putting someone else to the task of finding our food, that they just needed time under the broiler. Too many times through out the night we had to remind her of items we needed, from glasses of water, to napkins, to our checks. Speaking of checks, we asked them to be split into two. My check was to contain the nachos and 2 beers, but somehow, my check came out costing more than the check with 4 guys sat drinking beer all night. She did say she took a few beer off their check, but my receipt was totally wrong, with nachos and 6 beers showing up. I honestly didn’t have another 30 minutes to wait for her to try and get it right, so i just paid her. We are supposed to be meeting there again tonight(was the plan) for another game, but I will be suggesting another place or not going.

Standard mexican fare, large portions. Nothing too good but nothing awful. Will try again

I liked the food very very much! My family and I always comes here for birthday parties because everyone loves this so much! 4 stars! (1÷13÷16) Today my family went to El Jalisco for my grandmas birthday and I was ready to leave within a hour. With all of the refills filling you up before your meal… and because we’re on the topic of the meal let me say this don’t cook a meal a hour before anyone else’s! I don’t know that they made a nacho icee until tonight! The other food was cold as well! Not your best El Jalisco, Not your best! Your lucky that our waiter was good! With getting the food after 1 hour and having cold food he saved you! 2 stars!

Great service and good food. Not the best in town, but a fun place to eat and have drinks with friends. Love the chips and salsa!

ASGOODASITGETS. I would like to start this off by addressing the recent ‘allegations’ about some ‘healhcode’ ‘violations’ ??? I go tot El Jalisco at least once a week. ATLEAST! I have read the report and can vouch that it is 100% NOT true. Food: Incredible. Indescribable. No one can understand my absolute adoration of Mexican food. It is as if I am eating food made by the hand of God. I love it. After a tough week, this truly is the only thing that can keep my spirits up lifted. I am ALWAYS the first one at the table done. Then, I eat the remaining chips(FREEBYTHEWAY — FREEDELICIOUSCHIPS) and snack on the others leftovers. This may sound out of line, I DONTCARE! When i walk through those big, beautiful double doors, my impulse control does NOT come with me. I can’t stop myself. I could literally eat this food until I die. Let me specify: I do not mean I could eat it everyday until I died. I mean I could eat it for hours on end with no interruption until my body simply shut down. I wouldn’t mind at all. Also great waitstaff! Very friendly and cool. amazing environment. Great décor. Somewhat homey. There is eve a donkey sculpture you can climb up on and get some pics with. GREATIDEA!!! I love it. My favorite thing, for lunch, is the LSP15. For dinner, any of the vegetarian combos are AMAZING. (If you’re feeling FUN: come HERE!!! It is my favorite restaurant!!! In conclusion, PLEASE give them YOUR business. I NEED this place to stay open until I DIE. ! OVERALL: WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

General tex-mex. nothing special, nothing bad. Average all the way. But in a good way. No surprises. You can bring grandmother,(who doesn’t like spicy food) to an exotic Mexican restaurant. She will love it. I don’t think they even have a hot pepper(chile) in the whole place. Maybe a picture of one. On another note, this seems to be where all of the high school kids go to lunch. multiple packs of them waltzed in as if they had two hours to eat. I think i remember having like 30 minutes for lunch in high school… Well, if you are the only kid in the cafeteria for 2 lonely hours a day, know that everyone is probably at The Jalisco.

Hard to say if the food was good or not but the service SUCKED. Waited for 10 minutes when place was dead at 3:30today. Wave at bartender no luck getting service. Look around front desk no luck. Finally just call their number and the guy says they don’t take reservations. I said no I want a table now I’m in your restaurant now. He said someone will set you at front. At that point I look around. No ones comes. Bail to another place to eat. Too much bs for a taco.

Just driving through town and stopped for dinner based on reviews. For a Monday, they were busy and way understaffed. The bar was a wet mess and the place stank. Still waiting on the food…

I’m a fan of all of the local El Jalisco locations… but this one is my favorite! You can enjoy the great drink specials while avoiding the crowds(and students) that flock to the North Monroe Street location.

I spent half of my adult life in downtown Chicago, so I was fortunate to have a badass authentic Mexican place seemingly on every corner, which is why I was skeptical of joints like El Jalisco when I moved back to Tallahassee. Somewhat surprisingly, the place is actually pretty good. The choriqueso dip in particular is nothing short of sensational. Most everything on the menu is solid, plus their chips and salsa are tasty, too. Do yourself a favor and get yourself a skinny margarita when visiting the bar, because not only is it a fraction of the calories, but it’s much more satisfying to the pallet.

We’d been to their other location and not liked it, so this one was a pleasant surprise. We got there just after 6, and were glad we did, as it started filling up shortly after. As others have mentioned, service is quick and efficient. The food isn’t the most exciting I’ve had, but that’s not what I’m looking for when I go out for Mexican, so it was spot on. Parking was a bit confusing at first, but there’s ample around back. We also noticed they seem to do a very good take-out business.

I like it! Finally Mexican close to home. I agree that the food is not too spicy — but that’s ok. I can add hot sauce. I’ve tried the bean dip, guacamole, queso dip with the best being the queso dip. Good deals: the cheesesteak burrito, enchilladas. After visiting several times, I’m a fan!

Based on the size of the crowds at the newly opened NE location for El Jalisco, this Mexican eatery has hit a home run. A LONG home run! In a restaurant that has had an unsuccessful under several prior incarnations, El J consistently packs in the customers. The Fat Guys have yearned for a decent NE Mexi-eatery since the demise of Morelia, and we’ve gotten our wish. El Jalisco has remodeled the former Cabel’s American Grill building into an American tourist vision of a Mexi restaurant. The décor is pleasing — not overdone. We’ve visited several times, and the store ranges from busy to über busy, with the lobby waiting area full to overflowing. Early seems better to snag a table, but there is a large outdoor patio offering expanding waiting and seating. The great recent weather beckons al fresco dining. And the full bar(a real bar) is quite inviting, the pours on the strong side. Let’s talk food. It’s good AmeriMex. Not truly authentic Mexican food, but well adjusted to American tastes. We’ve yet to have a ‘bad’ meal, though we have experienced swings in consistency of entrees. I like enchiladas with green sauce, ‘verdes’, and I love spicy heat. My partner likes enchiladas verdes but not so spicy. Her first try netted 4 well filled chicken enchi’s with a very spicy green sauce. She found it so spicy that we ended up switching entrees(I had chix fajitas) so she could eat. The few bites I managed from my fajitas were quite good, by the way, and my wife polished off most of the dish. I found her enchiladas to my liking for spiciness, but I’d guess they would be overhot for many diners. However… …last night I ordered enchiladas verdes, and they were nearly devoid of spicy zip. A reaction to diner complaints, perhaps? I used half the bottle of hot sauce to zing up the taste. My partner’s choice was dinner chicken enchiladas, netting her 3 nicely stuffed enchis lightly dressed with red enchi sauce. Light on spice heat, she loved them(though she did add the tortilla chip salsa to her food). I think I got a bit ahead of myself. Service has consistently been good, but last evening it was excellent. Quick, friendly, attentive but not overbearing. The obligatory basket of tortilla chips(these pleasantly warmed) with a mild dipping salsa hit the table a moment after we were seated. In most Mexi restaurants we have been able to finish the majority of the starter chips(hence the Fat Guy moniker?) before our entrees were delivered. Last night the meal arrived piping hot less than halfway through the chips. Great job, El J! Both preps featured sour cream, lettuce, tomato(fairly good ones), and a so-so guacamole. The crowds consist of young, old, middle aged, suits, jeans — truly a full range of people. It can be a bit noisy, but overall we’ve had okay experiences. We do recommend El Jalisco’s newest location. Good(not exceptional) food and good service, but it can be crowded with a wait. They’re doing something right. Enjoy.
