My dogs love to run around the open space here. It’s a great place to have a picnic and the stories I’ve heard about the TyTy mansion are creepy. Go check out their haunted mansion and if you know any locals, they’ve probably had some bizarre experience happen to them if they’ve visited at night. Spooky!

Really great park with tons of space for running around, walking, playing with your dog, etc. Governor’s Park is totally hidden away in Tallahassee. I actually got lost the first time I tried to come here because you can’t even see it from the road. As a previous reviewer mentioned, there aren’t even any signs to get here so you definitely have to be watching carefully for the entrance. This is a great place to meet up with friends. That’s actually how I came here in the first place. At the top of the hill is a creepy abandoned mansion which used to be owned by Tallahassee entrepreneur Hyman Myers. Myers died a while back and the place has fallen into horrid shape but it’s awesome. Beauty in decay. I like that Governor’s Park isn’t crowded like Cascades Park — two different audiences, I think. It’s still one of my favorite places to visit in Tallahassee and a GREAT place for photos.

Governor’s park is a little known gem tucked away where most people wouldn’t think to look. The entrance is unmarked, and off of a partially paved road near the bridge on Blairstone. This beautiful greenway stretches across acres of open land great for playing fetch with your dog, flying a kite, having a picnic, playing frisbee, or challenging yourself during a workout to run up the hill. I usually make my way to Governor’s Park a few times a week with my pups. I don’t encounter too many other dogs, and there’s plenty of room to run. There is not a ton of shade, so be sure to bring plenty of water. If you take a short trek toward the top of the hill, you’ll find shaded pathways that lead around the corner farther into the tree line. Past the shade and trees, you’ll come across the abandoned 4000 sq. ft. Myers Mansion all boarded up atop the hill. The home was built in the mid-1950s and given to the City of Tallahassee in 1996. I definitely suggest taking the family for a nice adventure to see the mansion and wonder about all its mysteries.
