What a godsend. Having moved to Tally from NY, I have been really upset by the lack of good eats. Don’t let Kubano’s modest truck dining fool you, this place is a gem. The meats are all tender and seasoned well. The portions are generous and prep time is decent. I usually just get the classic Kubano sandwich; the pork loin and ham are succulent together and the tangy lime juice sauce makes it even better. The guys who work the truck are very friendly and pleasant. I love that I live within walking distance of this truck, one of my fav places to grab lunch near FSU.

I’m a Cuban American from Miami and can say that this is some of the best Cuban I have ever had and that’s saying a lot considering I eat Cuban almost everyday. The homemade mojo sauce is to die for. Their Cuban sandwhich is amazing and so is their pan con bistec. Highly recommend !!!

This place has some tasty sandwiches. I’ve tried most of them and I haven’t found one I don’t like. They are very generous with the condiments which can take away from the sandwich rather than make it better. The meat portion is solid. The pickle, mustard and what not can use a little restraint. The totones and plantenas(I’m not Hispanic so yeah) *sweet plantains and fried plantains* are really good. Their service time is rather quick too which is awesome. The beverage selection is pretty good too so if you like your jupina, it’s the place to go. The«servers»(I guess that’s what they are) can come off rude.

This review needs a preface. I have never been to Miami so I have never really tried an Authentic Cuban sandwich. If you are comparing it to other Cuban themed places in Tallahassee it is the best in terms of quality and taste. It’s not fast food by any means but they don’t keep you waiting too long. The only real knock against the place vs. a Gordo’s is the lack of a bar, alcohol and seating but if you are just going for food this place beats Gordo’s by a mile.

Good(enough) Cuban food. Gets the job done if you’re craving Cuban in Tallahassee. It’s way overpriced! I’ve had better Cuban food for way less. As a Latina, I hold Caribbean food to a high standard. My favorite part of the Kubanos experience was the Music!!! There was amazing old school Cuban Salsa blasting as we ate, and it made me forget I was in Tallahassee for a minute.

Good place to get your Latin food fix. However, as a Latino, I have to say this place is very overpriced. However, with few authentic spanish food choices around, it’s worth the trip. The sandwiches(I’ve had most of them) are delicious, the sides and dipping sauces are very good, and the music usually complements the experience well. Look out for their daily specials, you get more bang for your buck!

If you told me the best Cubanos in Florida were served in Tallahassee, and out of a food truck, I would call you a liar. I’ve spent plenty of time in south Florida and can tell you this was the best Cuban sandwich I have ever tasted. It beats the heck out of Versaille in Miami which has been featured on all kinds of food shows. Every bite was amazing from start to finish with the perfect balance of flavors. Most places don’t put enough pickles on the sandwich in my opinion, but this sandwich has plenty and it makes the flavor much more consistent. The pork is perfectly cooked, nice and tender with plenty of flavor, and the sandwiches are toasted to absolute perfection. Pair the Cubano with an Ironbeer soda and you’ll feel like you’re eating in Cuba. I will be eating at Kubano! every time I come to Tally, guaranteed.

Kubano is great! There is nothing better than a good sandwich, except for maybe a good sauce. Kubano has both! If you can get past the random hours, and the side of the road locale, you’re gonna love this place. Get the tostones, and extra sauce(just trust me!)

An update is in order. Why? — Because I veered off-script from my standard Elena Ruz(see previous review) ordered the Pan con Bistec. Three of them, actually. Tonto and I brought my brought my Dad for our customary Friday afternoon lunch. This special weekly event requires forethought and after a very short period of forethinking, we led the horses to this oasis. I finally had the pleasure of meeting Jabari Grayson(owner) today. There was a lull in the lines and he walked over to get a feel for how we liked the orders. We played it cool and said they were alright.(pffft… Alright. Ha! — That’s like saying BWV565 is pretty chill). For the unaware, Pan con Bistec(bread with steak) is simply Pan con Lechon(bread with suckling pig(although generally just straight-up pork these days)) that substitutes the(you guessed it) Pork for Steak. Jabari’ Grayson’s Pan con Bistec is thoughtfully prepared. I suspect the steak is first grilled and then cut up, but however the order, I noticed each piece of meat was equally proportioned and«just right» The homemade mojo redefines any notion I had about mojo(which, admittedly, was largely the publix-brand gallon«handle» that I often use for brining a shoulder). Distinctly citrus, you can taste the subtle seville oranges’ bitter tones. Damn good. Maduros were as good as ever. The tostones are stellar in their own right. Kubano! has a massive loyal following. At press-time(i.e., «now»), there are 68 Unilocal reviews and this operation is averaging 4.5 stars. Prune out the one star hater-review from South Carolina(incidentally, «one-star» because he waited 15 minutes. boohoo…) and you get a far truer average that rounds up to 5 stars. Everybody knows that an operation like this with nearly 70 reviews that has this sort of average is definitely on to something. I even went over to TripAdvisor(hey — I don’t have an account there — I just looked…) and those folks get it too. Understandably, there’s only a paltry 8 reviews(TripAdvisor types, in my experience, aren’t the most adventurous of sorts) but every single one of those is raving. I’ll be watching this guy. My hope is that Mr. Grayson finds his way to a bricks & mortar storefront so that he can keep the trailer for special catering functions. I don’t think it will matter where he relocates — I’m confident that massive following will track him down.

In danger of being repetitive, I will say again that as someone who has lived in Miami… I expected more. That being said, even in Miami there’s places who would cower at Kubano’s Cuban. Perfectly pressed with an over abundance of meat that made my taste buds approved. While it didn’t transport me to Calle Ocho or even Ft. Lauderdale, the Kubano sandwich was a beast that I happily wrangled. Most could share it with a side but I am not weak of stomach. I was really into how unassuming the food truck is, as much so as to offer deliveries for a mere penny! A drink and side combo add a whopping 3.50 to your tab but considering the options, it’s worth it. Trust me, get that drink with your sandwich since thanks to Unilocal’s awesomeness you’ll be able to get a free side after check in. You’ll have five sides to choose from, don’t despair. This is not as hard as choosing what sandwich to get(especially since you can sub and add goodies) nor what drink(I recommend a cool Jupiña to wash it all down with). It may not transport me to SFla or Cuba but it definitely takes you out of Tally for a good bit. Siéntate and Enjoy

I absolutely LOVE this food truck! I went for the first time because of the Unilocal reviews. My boyfriend and I bought 2 different sandwiches, and split them so we could have a taste of both. We ended up getting the Pan con Bistec and the Pan con Pollo. My favorite was the Pan con Bistec, but both were very food. We also got a side of tostones and sweet plantains(which are the best). Make sure you check-in on Unilocal! You’ll get a free appetizer. The food was definitely flavorful and at a decent price. What really sets this place apart is the customer service. The staff was very friendly, and definitely exceeded my expectations! The cook saw me waiting in the car with my puppies for food. When I was about to leave, he stopped me and gave me some treats(leftover pieces of steak) for my puppies, which just warmed my heart. I will definitely be going back.

Best Cuban sandwiches! I ordered to share a Ropa Vieja Kubano, Pan con Bistec and the sweet plantains this afternoon and it was absolutely delicious. Everything was very flavorful and portions were right. Will come back!

Yeap 5 stars! Thank you Unilocalers for showing me the way. It’s one of the best food truck establishments in Florida. It’s located by the side of Marathon? gas station on W Gaines St. Hours of operation: Monday — Saturday from 11am — 930pm. There’s a semi shaded picnic table adjacent to the truck for seating. As much as I appreciate them for providing seating, it was way too hot outside so we ended up eating in our air conditioned car ;) We ordered the Pan con pollo sandwich, it’s made with grilled chicken breast, onion, muenster and harvarti cheese, keylime juice and cilantro on a soft hoagie. The sandwich comes with a side of orange vinaigrette. I didn’t understand what was the point of the sauce, it was too runny. Would be better as a glaze. Big portion! Platanos are truly amazing, very sweet and fried to perfection. Not skimpy like most places I’ve been to, they give 6 pieces per order. Great customer service, they offered us an awesome deal, 2 pollo sandwiches + 2 sides and 2 drinks for $ 17 +tax. It does take little time for them to make the order BUT perfection does take time. It’s definitely worth the wait! Good news to Tallahassee peeps, now they deliver! You’re welcome :)

The Cuban sandwich here is so damn good I wanna slap yo mama! FORREAL! Came on a Thursday around 4pm. Ordered the Tally Kubano and a cream soda. With Unilocal check-in, I got a free side of fried plantains. Score! My food was ready quickly even tho it’s made to order. Ppl running the truck is super friendly with genuine smile on their faces. If it wasn’t the 90+ degree nasty weather, I’d totally have sat there enjoying my food with the lively music. Instead I took them home to eat. After the first bite, I was totally blown away! This pressed Cuban sandwich is deff a master piece! So hot and satisfying. Best I’ve ever had! There were so many intense flavors going on with the pork lion, ham, cheese, pickle, salami, mustard, and the crispy fresh baguette but they all blended so amazingly well. Phenomenal! Can’t forget the fried plantains either which make a perfect side. I can’t wait to return so I can try more things on the menu. Better hide yo mama tho, or I’ll seriously slap her!

I had heard this place was awesome and tried for a long time to get here for a sandwich. It seemed like every time I tried I had just missed it or it was the wrong day(even after checking their hours). Finally one day I caught it and I have to say it was as good as the hype. I had the kubano sandwich with a side of tostones. The kubano was awesome. The tostones were giant and the dipping sauce on the side ruled. Highly recommend it! I’m only docking them a star b/c their hours are inconsistent which was frustrating to me.

I’ve been to Tampa and Miami several times being a native Floridian. This place is right at the top of best Cuban Sandwich I’ve ever had. If you haven’t been to Kubano yet and you live in Tallahassee, do your mouth a favor and drive there immediately. Now, it is a food truck, but it is a food truck in the best possible way. All food is cooked to order and you can call your order ahead. By the time you get there, it will already be ready and fresh as can be. Also, the Plantains are no joke either. They themselves are up there as some of the best I’ve had. Very sweet and dusted with cinnamon sugar, I can never resist getting them as a side to my Cuban. The portions are very large and they also have an assortment of interesting canned drinks including Iron Beer, which apparently is a soda that originated in Cuba until the family was exiled when Castro took over rule and it is now made in Miami. I thought Iron Beer would taste much different than what it actually does. Worth a try for sure. All in all, If you are a fan of Cuban food and Cuban Sandwiches, I don’t know what more you could want from this place. Kubano is a food coma in the best possible way and I hope Tallahassee holds onto these guys for a long, long time.

Oh boy, you’re in for a treat. Kubano! excels at crafting near perfect sandwiches that are incredibly unique to the Tallahassee food truck scene. I’m going to break it down by quickly examining their tagline, «Authentic, Generous, Delicious.» Authentic: Cooking techniques like braising, shredding, hand carving and pressing are purely the tip of the iceberg here at Kubano! Fresh, handmade ingredients take handhelds like Pan con Bistec from ordinary to freaking extraordinary. Generous: Sandwiches that fill you up, plain and simple. And if you have a metabolism that can handle a little bit more grub, side items are only $ 3. FYI, if you check in on Unilocal you will receive a free, I repeat a FREE side item with purchase of a sandwich! Hallelujah! Delicious: I humored the classic Kubano Sandwich on my most recent visit and honestly, if this was the only sandwich they sold to the public, they would still generate a huge following. Melted cheese, smokiness of the ham, juiciness of the pork and tanginess from the dill pickles and mustard, this is an unadulterated textbook sandwich. The location provides a high demand to the Gaines Street and Railroad Square region. They’re open Monday thru Saturday and offer delivery as well! So, what are you waiting for? The service has always been friendly and I’ve never waited more than seven minutes for a sandwich. It’s outrageous that Kubano! pumps out restaurant quality food out of a tiny food truck. It’s a mystery to me what their secret is, but Kubano! is the real deal.

There is a check — in offer for a free side!(And they are totally worth it) YES! Finally a sandwich establishment that delivers hot and fresh options! Currently, You won’t find a better option in Tallahassee. Firstly, the little food truck is currently located across the Crepevine/SideBar/All Saints plaza, right next to the gas station. There is parking on the lot next to them, so you park very close to the truck! The truck had 3 workers, and you can guess why! They certainly deserve the praise they get. All of them were super nice! I had the boliche! Perfectly seasoned meat, with melted cheese, onions, and 2 tried eggs. YUM! I get the platanos and there are a LOT of platanos YES this side is completely worth it. They season them with cinnamon and sugar! You can seat right outside and enjoy the traffic. Also, you can call ahead and order. Completely worth it. Please DON’T ever change Kubano! You surpass all other sammich establishments by far!
