I got the Catalina Mocha. It has a great dark roast and white chocolate flavor. I think my favorite part is that the ice cubes are made out of coffee.

To start, I’m very excited that Tallahassee continues to open local coffee shops. The more, the better! I’ve been to Catalina a handful of times. Usually, at 6:30am right after Crossfit. Even at that early in the morning, the staff is alert and friendly. The interior is small, but they’ve got benches outside and garage doors that open when it’s cool out to enjoy a nice breeze. Also makes the place not feel so small, which is helpful. My favorite coffee is their cold brew. It’s arguably my favorite in Tallahassee(RedEye is up there too!). But what really sets their cold brew apart is they put coffee cubes in them! Coffee cubes are ice cubes made of frozen coffee. This way, as your ice begins to melt, it doesn’t become watered down, but continues to add more coffee! I wish more coffee shops caught on to this brilliant idea, but I’m sure glad Catalina does this! What’s nice is they also serve food. Not just bagels and muffins, but sandwiches and wraps as well. I’ve always enjoyed a coffee shop that has a great variety of delicious food as well. Most of the time, you get a coffee shop that puts food in second place, sometimes because of a lack of kitchen space, but these guys strive to provide excellent grub as well! If you’re in the Collegetown area(which you should be because it’s awesome), stop by Catalina for some coffee and a bite to eat. You’ll be glad you did.

Cozy café that uses quality ingredients for their food, coffee and tea. I love coming here especially when the students are out on spring break and during the summer when it’s not so packed. Service is also great and even if the counter where you order from is only a few feet away from the tables, they bring your order to your table. That is what you call super service! I’ve had two of their breakfast items, the breakfast lox sandwich and the egg and cheese sandwich and not only were the portions generous, but the flavors were definitely there. Bread was toasted just right and you can taste the freshness of the ingredients. I’m a fan!

Delicious lattes and adorable atmosphere! Catalina has it all — even super friendly baristas to boot! I ordered the«Zoe’s Revenge» latte, which had white chocolate and tiramisu. It was absolutely delicious. My friend ordered a something mocha latte… I think I was too involved in my own to focus on hers and its ingredients. We also split a Reese’s Puff Treat, which was scrumptious. Prices are reasonable(much less than the ‘Bucks), and if the weather is nice, the open garage door makes you feel like you’re in Manhattan(minus all of the sirens and taxi horns). I’ll definitely be back here!

I don’t know how I can possibly praise Catalina Café enough! It is one of those shops that has the complete package. First off, the coffee is easily my favorite in all of Tallahassee. They know how to make it right, and, should you want to try something a bit different, they can make you a pour over cup from their dragon brewer, creating a coffee unlike any I have ever had before. It brings out the most natural flavors of the coffee as one of the lightest and most flavorful cups of coffee I have ever had. Second, the atmosphere is fun and really conducive to studying and chatting, with an awning outside to either handle the overflow of people or to enjoy the sunlight. A beautiful mural covers one wall, adding a nice touch to the already welcoming interior. Finally, I continue to feel welcomed every time I come in by the kind and friendly baristas. As I said, Catalina Café in the Garages on Gaines is a welcome addition to the area and really offers that complete package, which keeps me coming back time and time again.

Best coffee in town! Before both the gaines location I would drive to catalina on capital circle fron the opposite side of town. The barristas are incredibly nice, the ambience is super chill. Now both the new locations are on my morning commute and the coffee is amazingas ever. My parents from Pakistan visited me and the made me drive them to Catalina every other day for their morning coffee.

Catalina Café has very effectively created a brand for itself in Tallahassee as a consistent purveyor of high-quality coffee. This particular location is the most inviting yet. Its large open garage door gives the café a welcoming ‘al fresco’ feel, especially now that we’re entering Tallahassee’s delicious fall season. There are always a few patrons working on their laptops both inside and on the outside patio, which it shares with the equally awesome Grasslands craft brewery. The coffee itself can be described as nothing less than absolutely phenomenal, which is the main reason Catalina earns my 5 stars: Its espresso is strong and flavorful; they offer it Cuban style and it turns out great; it is elegantly served up with the proper utensils(using a demitasse cup and spoon) – and an accompanying side of sparkling water for good measure; the baristas are friendly and knowledgeable; and the location, as I described above, is delightful. I absolutely recommend Catalina Café, especially this particular locale.

I believe Tallahassee is home to many outstanding coffee shops. Catalina Café’s new location at the Garages on Gaines is no exception. Eye-popping wall art upon entering was done right before my eyes during the past couple of weeks. It shows their unique concept of coffee done the Catalina way. Tons of seating inside might not be enough, because the steadiness of customers seems to pretty high. Every morning seems busier and busier. Aptly, they’ve added seating outside for you Al Fresco junkies out there(Daniel P. you know who I’m talking about). Inside you’ll always hear great music, whether classic rock fills the speakers or contemporary indie favorites. The coffee is made by hand, crafted by wonderful baristas. This hasn’t changed from their main location on Capital Circle. Except Micah. I do miss him. But everyone here is pleasurable and focuses on making your espresso with care and speed. Their cold brew with iced coffee cubes provides the morning or afternoon jolt you are in need of. Just an excellent place to hang out with a friend or knock out some work. You’ll usually see the owners running around in their element, lending a hand wherever is needed. And if you’re lucky, you’ll run into little Catalina herself. Then you’re really in for a treat.

The vibe at Catalina’s new location is superb! I love the new small menu and the beautiful wood plates my sandwich came on. My cortadito was a delight!

This is their newest location and it just opened. I went to their other one not too long ago and was impressed. I feel like I’ve checked out all of the coffee shops in Tallahassee and Catalina is probably my favorite. This place is tiny so I’m interested to see how full it gets when the fall comes around. It seems to be in a prime location. My barista was awesome and incredibly friendly which is hard to get sometimes in coffee shops. Not snobby at all and answered all of my questions. All of their syrups are made in house except the white chocolate. I ordered a caramel hazelnut latte. The microfoam was incredibly! Incredibly creamy and the latte was delicious. Looking over the rest of the menu I hope you decide to either make your own chai or get a more craft chai mix. I can buy Oregon Chai at Publix. That would be my only complaint. Everything else was wonderful! Get ready to be really busy guys!

Yet ANOTHER feather in the cap which TLH wears. Already great and established Catalina Café opens what I speculate will be their premier location, right across from Utrecht’s — on Gaines. I had a quad 16 oz. latte, produced with pro– flourishing and all. I’ll order a drip cup next time to better articulate the roast — but this cup was perfect. The roaster plays a center stage role here — and I suspect it is the workhouse rather than the decorative conversation piece some might assume it to be. Proprietors let me sample the cold brew. Very nice. Notable absence of the foamy quality present in another cold brew in town.
