Mervs was soooo good!!! It seriously was the best sandwich I have ever had. The atmosphere is good and the food isn’t too pricy. Much better than other brunch spots. I hope I can try all the melts on their menu!

Merv’s is the place to go if you want a fire sandwich. With over 20 different types of sandwiches, as well as burgers, delicious sides, and yummy desserts, there is something for everyone. There are so many options that I get dizzy trying to decide what to order! Each time I have gone I have tried something new. Thus far I have had the Derby Crash, Bacon and Brie, the Frenchie, and their special of the day: a turkey sandwich, and all have been 5 stars in flavor. As for the sides, I have always gone with the tater tots, who doesn’t love tater tots?! The first time I went to Merv’s I waited over an hour for food and ordering, but it was UM weekend so pretty much everywhere was swamped. I decided to try again since the food was so great, and there was quite a long wait for food that day as well(The long wait times is why I give 4 stars instead of 5). Today, there was a very short wait for food and to order, most likely due to it being summer and most students not being in town. I will definitely be taking advantage of this short summer line! Keep in mind they close at 3!

I went to Merv’s for the first time today with my coworkers, and we did not regret our decision. It’s in the same building that was previously«Fat Sandwich» but with a few upgrades. It shares a parking lot with the crêpe vine and is located across from the kubano food truck. The décor is very industrial and modern, and there is both indoor and outdoor seating, depending on your fancy. As you walk in, they have a big board with their listed items, as well as a special offering written on the chalk board. They also provide smaller menus so you don’t have to strain your eyes. When you’re ready to order, you walk up to the cashier, she hands you a number, and the food is brought out to your table. I was really impressed by how quick they brought out the food during the hustle and bustle of lunch hour. As for the food, it was very good. If you order a sandwich, you are able to choose what type of bread you want, although I didn’t realize this until I started ordering. I ordered the BBQ chicken club on wheat(thick cut bacon, roasted chicken, barbecue sauce, tomato, smoked Gouda, and cheddar) along with the sweet potato tots. The sandwich was hearty and delicious. The bacon was stacked high, the cheese as you might expect – melted, and the BBQ sauce oozed out with each bite. As for the sweet potato tots, merv’s has a bit of an interesting twist and tops them with what appeared to be confectionary sugar. They were good, but probably a little too sweet for my liking. It just felt a little more like a dessert than a side. My coworkers ordered the patty melt, and the pesto turkey sandwich, and everyone seemed pretty content with their decisions. Merv’s also has some giant cookies which were(strategically?) tantalizingly placed next to the cash register where you order. Definitely worth trying as a quick lunch located near the downtown area, and I will come back and continue to explore their menu.

Don’t get me wrong I ate my meal. However, I was a little disappointed with the quality of the food. The chicken looked and tasted like a strip from a frozen bag of Tyson served at Walmart. The cheese was craft right out of the package.(The roscoe) Would not be a problem if they did not up charge the food.

New metal trays make the table messier bc it doesn’t catch crumbs and are too small and cramped I didn’t like them. They also has new chips which I thought were better than their older ones but food was good as always!

This place was exactly what I expected. Good food, good price, definitely a good experience. I got the Cobb salad which was the perfect portion with generous amounts of bacon and cheese. They serve local coffee, they have a great variety of food on their menu, the food was fast and fresh. I would definitely recommend it. Also, the fresh cookies by the register looked amazing!

Merv’s, short name, long lines, almost worth the wait. Ordered the Gyro melt on wheat and lobster bisque and my colleague ordered the Don Draper on pumpernickel rye. I had the sweet tots and she had the regular tots. Shortly after my colleague and I sat down, the server came to our table delivering our sandwiches. I was quite impressed with the lightning, quick service. And I was really hungry and ready to eat but then realized she had the wrong table. Oh, well… It took a little bit longer for our food to arrive. Just a tad too long but in a way, it was good because we were able to catch up since it’s been months since we got together. I was starving so when our food finally came, I was excited! Her Don Draper was stuffed with Angus roast beef-impressive portion! She enjoyed it with her tots and cheese dipping sauce. My bread was crisp and toasted just right, although a bit on the buttery side. I’m not a big butter fan so it’s not their fault. However, the gyro was tough and overcooked so I was disappointed. I enjoyed the tzatziki sauce and feta but my taste buds didn’t approve of the melted muenster cheese addition. I totally understand the twist but I felt that it would’ve been better if they kept the integrity of the original gyro sandwich recipe. I did miss having it on pita bread. Or perhaps, I should’ve ordered something else. Still, I’m giving them kudos for making the gyro melt their own. The lobster bisque was extra thick and a bit lumpy but the flavors were fine. The bits of lobster was much appreciated. Loved the sweet potato tots– crispy on the outside and bursting with sweetness on the inside. Both my friend and I took doggy bags home! Generous servings as I mentioned earlier. I’ll have to give Merv’s another shot and order something else next time. Friendly service, great ambience and locally owned so I’m willing to come back another time.

The past two times I’ve tried to get food here for pick up, no one will answer the phone. I end up coming in anyway thinking,“maybe they’re too busy to pick up,” but no, both times there’s hardly any customers. When I express my frustration at the counter, the girls are clueless and seem to not care. I’ll keep coming back because the food is great, I just wish they had better customer service

OK I will follow along with everyone else on this one and gave them a full four stars. This is a order at the counter and go sit down and they bring it to you type of place, it’s an old gas station turned into a foodie place, very hipster type, but that’s what you would expect in a college town, but to get to the main fair is the food, they put a little bit of a twist on the normal breakfast, like French toast sandwich that has eggs and sausage and other items on it with powdered sugar but very very tasty, The menu is not extremely large but adequate, and everything is a little on the different side from the normal breakfast type of place. But with that said it’s worth trying because everything we had was very tasty, and by the time we left the line was out the door so they obviously have a very good following. Everyone was very nice and friendly and the place is decorated very industrial as you would imagine for an old gas station. We were visiting the area and this place was right across the street from our hotel it had to good reviews so we decided to try it and once again Unilocal did not let us down.

Came for breakfast. Cheap ingredients. Not fresh. If they used fresh ingredients, it could be really good. Service friendly. Waffle House has better ingredients. Orange square cellophane cheese on one breakfast item, that also had generic waffles, and frozen/thawed mass-produced chicken fingers on it. Absolutely crushed, and felt very, very letdown by other Unilocalers who rated it with 4 – 5 stars??? Maybe these are those Unilocalers that give everything 4 – 5 stars? Cheese grits tasted like they were from a box, with barely melted cheddar from a bag. The interior is nice, and the staff was friendly. Really just feel let down. In fact, even the eggs are probably pre-made. All in all, it’s really a lot like eating at McDonalds, with items being less fresh and inventive than a McGriddle.

My past few visits to Merv’s have been excellent. The sandwiches are consistently delicious. The Don Draper, the Rise n’ Shine and today’s special, the Buffalo Chicken Ranch melt, have exceeded my taste buds. They really have their signature toasted bread and tater tot recipe down to a unparalleled science. The wait times have definitely gone down during my last three visits, hence the updated review and star rating. Remember to ALWAYS give credit where credit is due. After meeting Brad, the owner, I have a high respect for him and his product and all his endeavors in Tallahassee. Keep up the local flavor!

Despite this sandwich being heralded as one of the top in TLH, I was left unimpressed. The fried chicken tenders soaked up the ‘spicy’ buffalo sauce like a stranded pilot in the Sahara. The cheddar and pepper jack combined to a plasticky consistency so I couldn’t tell there were two types. Ended up being a dry and underwhelming sandwich, mediocre overall. However, they’ve got so many more I need to try! Service was, unfortunately, also kinda meh. Cashier was a bit absentminded and charged me for a dessert when I wanted a Jarritos drink. She didn’t offer a refund but instead waved it off with a ‘oh they’re about the same price.’ I guess she realized that wasn’t what she should’ve said. She ended up telling me to just grab two Jarritos for my trouble instead. Inside was stuffy so I took my fare out into the great unknown! The outside seating area is nice on a Fall sunny day. Plus there’s plenty of parking(or minus if you want to get people walking, biking, and taking transit… but who’s counting?). No bike parking but maybe dog parking? Poles where, I’m guessing, you leash your dog friendly folks and let the dogs run wild(I assumed from the dog logo, dog bowls, and the like that suggests dog anarchy). Relax I kid I kid, it really does seem like a place that is kid friendly, dog friendly, and overall family friendly. So you may be asking, OK V what’s up with the 3 then? It doesn’t sound like you thought much of it. One word: cheesy tots(two but again who’s counting? No math majors here). The cheesy tots were really good, after all… a) Napoleon! Gimme some of your tots! b) Cheese So…Not the best nor the worst, which leaves me with one parting piece of wisdom — Tallahassee Magazine shape up and take note. I dont think mine was one of the top sandwiches but thats not to say its not one of Merv’s. That said — If you want to find the top 9 sandwiches in Tallahassee, leave it to the professionals and look to Unilocal

Looking for a hearty breakfast sandwich with cheesy tots? Then Merv’s is the place for you. Loaded with tons of choices, this retro-inspired restaurant is located right in the heart of Railroad Square. If you don’t mind a little wait, you’ll received a pretty solid meal for a reasonable price.

Went to Merv’s because, I heard they had great sandwiches which I’m always in the mood for. They had a wide selection for both breakfast and lunch option. It was had to decide but I went for the Bacon and Brie which I really enjoyed. It was pretty greasy but I guess that comes with the territory when you order a bacon sandwich. I was happy they had a napkin dispenser on the table because, I need a lot. The staff was friendly and I thought it was reasonably priced. I can see why Merv’s is a hit! I’ll definitely be back.

Ello chaps! MERV’S! GOTOMERV’S! Delicious little spot in the railroad square district of Tallahassee. The menu is creative as the spot itself, having come to life from a converted gas station from yesteryear. There is seating available inside and outside and is PETFRIENDLY! Unless you own a cow, then your pet may end up on the grill.

So I tried coming here last time I was in Tallahassee but the wait was too long. Finally came back today and waited 45 minutes. Maybe I’m salty because I had to wait so long but I wasn’t super impressed. I had the French toast breakfast sandwich, which is basic just French toast with eggs, sausage, and cheese. I feel like the breakfast menu I’m general is just ok. I really enjoyed the chips with rosemary and balsamic vinegar that someone else got. I would give this place another shot to try the lunch menu but hopefully won’t have to wait so long.

The first thing I noticed about Mervs when I walked in the door was the cleanliness and the smiling faces. I was told there would be a 20 minute wait over the phone when I called in my take out order. I didn’t mind. They also have a sign of «estimated wait time til cheesy goodness«. We ordered a patty melt with sweet tots and(this was MY mistake) a Mondo Merv burger. I don’t know what I was expecting but now that I have read the description– I got exactly that. An 8 oz steak burger, 3 strips of bacon on grilled cheese buns. We are talking 2 grilled cheese sandwiches with the burger in the middle. How can I handle all the carbs? Next time I’ll order a smaller burger like the BBQ. It is so good! The place is so clean and so friendly. I can’t wait to go back and«dine in».

First time dining at Merv’s today for breakfast. I must say, i was slightly disappointed with their breakfast menu because the options were so limited. No complaints when received our meals though. Also, the customer service was excellent. Everyone there was super friendly and helpful. I look forward to trying their lunch menu

I went here for a late breakfast and it was very good. I ordered The Frenchie — Toast bread, scrambled eggs, sausage patty, bacon, american cheese & syrup dipper for $ 7.95 I even ordered the REAL Coke(i.e. Mexican Coke with REAL cane sugar) that is far superior to the regular Coke with corn syrup. This restaurant is retro and this place was probably an old gas station or car repair shop, but now it serves awesome food.

Wish there were half stars, because Merv’s was truly a 3.5. We were there on a hotter day and the restaurant was very, very warm. The side room with tables was slightly better, but still grossly warm. Food was good and could be split between two sorta-hungry people. Didn’t reheat super well and chips don’t save well either. Sweet potato tots are good and the PBR chips were borderline addictive. Haven’t been back in a few months, mainly because of the hours, but will go back someday.
