Ate here soon after the grand opening and had a wonderful meal(at a discount for their opening). Their sushi specials are a fantastic deal and taste so fresh and delicious. The tempura ice cream was also well portioned and so good! Everything was plated with beautiful presentation. The décor is also very modern and pretty. I appreciate that there is only glass separating the dining room from the hibachi tables, so that you can watch the hibachi chefs entertain during your dinner as well. We will definitely be back!!!

Sake! Sake! Sake! That chant will forever be seated into my brain, as is the memory of trying to catch every last drop that streamed towards my face. The hibachi show and service? Outstanding. The kids LOVED the experience as did the adults at our table. Food? Expertly cooked and seasoned, I even turned down the sauces. Price was spot on, when compared to all you get. Soup, salad, rice, noodles, veggies and then protein. We took home boxes and great memories from the night. I highly recommend this place for both a dinner and a show!

I have been so busy that this review is very late! But I came to Nagoya with a group of Unilocalers and it was a blast. They were very good at entertaining and kept the whole group happy(which was quite a big group). I started off with a Mai Tai which was very good. I then tried out their Oyster Shot which has live oyster, quail egg(raw) with tobiko, scallion, and sake. It was surprisingly very good. It had a little kick to it but went down pretty well. Be adventurous, try it out! You won’t regret it. I then split the Japanese pizza, it was very unique tasting, a little spicy, but definitely delicious. For my main course I had the chicken and scallion hibachi. The food was all cooked to perfection! The chef put on quite a show including a onion tower volcano and sake shots shot into everyone’s mouth! The hibachi comes with soup, salad, fried rice, veggies, noodles, and your choice of meat. The fried rice was delicious, this is always my favorite part of hibachi restaurants! The portions were huge and I ended up taking home some noodles, veggies, and chicken as left overs which were quite good for lunch. In my opinion Nagoya is the best hibachi restaurant in town. I usually just eat hibachi for the excitement of the show but their food was actually all delicious. It exceeded my expectations. And they put on quite a show to entertain their guests! Try it out!

Experienced Nagoya for the first time last night and it was great! The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and very well designed. It gives the feel of a more upscale experience than you usually encounter at a hibachi restaurant/sushi bar. We were immediately sat at a hibachi table and our server was alert, friendly, and experienced. The food was very tasty. The miso soup was some of the best I’ve ever had. I ordered the steak and it was incredibly tender. Our chef was definitely a people person and hilarious. Overall the meal was wonderful and I will be returning to Nagoya!

Decided to give Tallahassee’s newest Japanese steakhouse and hibachi grill a go last night for girls night out. The restaurant is beautifully designed and the staff is very welcoming. The four of us sat at one of their hibachi tables and we’re delighted by the show and cuisine. Our hibachi chef made the experience a great one. He had lots of energy and kept the laughs coming. The food was delicious. Between the 4 of us we sampled the Volcano roll, filet mignon, shrimp & scallops. All were cooked perfectly! The cocktails were all well made but sometimes a little slow. I’d rate this experience a 9⁄10 and will definitely be returning.

Not your grandma’s hibachi. I must say this newest Japanese steak house has earned the trust of my taste buds. I had not visited any hibachi place for almost 10 years. I always thought it was largely hokum for non-Asians. The higher than average price is mostly for the«show» and the hibachi food is often mediocre at best. Why would I pay for that?! In fact, I even worked at one briefly for a month as a poor graduate student years ago. So I never felt I had any compelling reasons to visit this type of establishment anytime soon. Recently when a UYE was organized(Thanks to Bret I.) for us Tally Unilocalers to get together at this hibachi place, I knew it was about time. So I came and had a fun night with a group of friendly and hungry Unilocalers. We were given a private room with disco lights. That alone made my night. The hibachi chefs were pretty entertaining. Service was attentive but it did take awhile for us to order. I opted to have the shrimp hibachi which was surprisingly good. The fried rice, noodles, veggies, and shrimps were very fresh and well seasoned. I was deff pleasantly surprise. The Korean owner came out to say hi and thanked us so that was a nice touch. I’m mostly certain that I’ll be coming back to try the sushi b/c several ppl raved about it. A lunch hibachi at Nagoya also sounds pretty good to me!

UNI in TLH Score: 9⁄10. Impeccable presentation and freshness each time ordered. I can tell already that Nagoya will be a «go-to» destination any time the urge for Nigiri or Sashimi overcomes me. During both visits, I was pleased to know that Uni was available. Décor is tasteful. The restaurant is divided into the Teppanyaki section and the sushi-bar/tables/booths section. I’ve not had the Teppanyaki so far, but a good number of reviews suggest that Nagoya’s doing it right. My first visit produced a PERFECTLY presented Uni Nigiri with unbroken quail egg yolks(ordered) on top of each. I’m looking forward to a few more visits because it’s always a pleasure to pop a 5th star to a deserving restaurant!

Although the habachi at Nagoya is great, you really should try the sushi. I think it is the best sushi in Tallahassee. The fish is high quality and super fresh, especially the ahi tuna. Unlike some other sushi restaurants in town, they have a great rice to filling ratio. If you’re looking for a recommendation, I suggest the Valentine roll – spicy tuna wrapped in ahi tuna.

This restaurant is what Tallahassee desperately needed. For the past four years, I’ve been dying for a good hibachi restaurant and Nagoya does not disappoint! For starters, their service has been excellent. We started with drinks which were delicious and curiously strong? After anything was brought to the table both the waitress, the bartender and owner all came out to check on us. But seriously the bartender is the bomb! My friend and I both ordered steak hibachi, which for it not being filet was very tender. The chef was fun and everything else that came with the hibachi was also really good! Our second visit we came for lunch which was nice because the prices are much cheaper! My friend ordered sushi, which she said was good. Also keep an eye out for their daily drink specials, such as whiskey Wednesdays($ 5 whiskey drinks)! Overall, I was super impressed Nagoya. I love the steak hibachi and I will definitely be a frequent flyer here!

Super impressed! First, the place is gorgeous. They did a fantastic job on the ambiance! The staff is very friendly and inviting including fast service. This is great because whenever a place opens up here in Tallahassee, it seems that the kids hired are running a circus show which causes any new place to fail no matter what their training consisted of. I always feel bad for new proprietors coming in with their systems here for that reason alone. I stopped in for lunch and like how they have a little bit of everything on their platters. You can just tell how fresh the food is when the soup is clear. Haha. Reasonable prices too. I’ll be back to try the hibachi. Nice to see this here in Tally.

This brand new place has come well recommended and is a ‘Hot New Business’ and as such, we had an Unofficial Unilocal Event there for the Tallahassee Unilocal community organized by an awesome Elite(HT Bret). Had about 20 in the group so a large room with two Hibachi tables right up front provided us respite for the night, which just so happened to be the Grand Opening of the place! Service was spectacular and it turns out we were being served by one of the owners themselves. Kelly was the perfect guide to our culinary experience. Food was delicious and their menu was extensive providing appetizers, rolls and sushi, hibachi, and some stand alone dishes such as fried rice and noodles. They also had a separate drink menu as they have a full bar and offer some specialty drinks, sure to make it even more of a favorite amongst Tallahassee. The hibachi itself was phenomenal, not only food quality but presentation. After all, hibachi is part theater and show. Our hibachi grill master did not disappoint, you’ll see many of the traditional tricks and jokes with some added flair that makes the whole thing seem brand new. I guess it also doesn’t hurt that service keeps the food and drinks coming ;) Will definitely be back, back and forth forever.

I truly didn’t see the 5-star experience on the horizon. Nagoya, Tallahassee’s newest hibachi restaurant, overcomes all stereotypes of your typical hibachi experience. The food excels above all else. Having said that, the owners exude a level of kindness, generosity and energy which goes unprecedented. Musts: Cough up the few extra dollars and have the hibachi experience. The chefs dazzle with speed, technical ability and liveliness(PS. they will squirt sake into your mouths, too). Fried rice — exquisite, some of the best I’ve had in years. Noodles — probably just as tasty, but I was really craving fried rice. Veggies — excellent, seasoned well. Steak & Chicken — tender, succulent and meaty. I also ordered a squid salad as an appetizer, which was beautifully presented and delicious in texture and flavor. I sampled a piece of sushi wrapped with tuna and I will definitely have to order off the sushi menu next time. I couldn’t be more thrilled with our experience here at Nagoya. Thanks for hosting 15 crazy Unilocalers!

This is place is killing it in the best possible way. I am especially impressed with how on point they are, given that they just opened their doors. Service, even for a large group, was fantastic. I’ve been to many hibachi style establishments over the years and our chef was one of the best I have ever seen work. He was entertaining and talented on the grill! I loved the house soup — a light mushroom and onion broth. Very nice alternative to the miso option. My husband and I shared a sushi roll called Crazy Tuna. It did not quite match the menu description but was still very tasty. I look forward to sampling more of the sushi offerings on future visits. The hibachi food was superlative. The fried rice was a standout. The steak I ordered was super tender with perfect seasoning. This place holds up to including the word«steakhouse» in their title!

Went with a big group of friends on a Saturday night, so we called ahead and made a reservation for 8:30. However, we didn’t get seated until closer to 9:30, which was pretty aggravating. The waiter was a little rude at first, which didn’t help the situation. However, the rest of the night was great. Hibachi chef put on quite a performance, including sake shots which were a big hit at our table! Most of the table ordered hibachi which went over well. I ordered sushi and was very pleased, as was the other person who ordered the sushi. I also ordered a drink which was tasty and reasonably priced. As for the service, it got better once we were all settled in. My party was quite boisterous and that didn’t seem to faze the waitstaff! All in all, will be excited to revisit, most likely for a date night. Lots of drink choices, more vegetarian/vegan friendly sushi options than the average place, and great ambiance.

Went here for my big’s 27th birthday. Our reservation was for 8:30pm, but we didn’t get seated until maybe 9:30pm and then the actual hibachi portion didn’t fully start until past 10pm. The entire seating situation was a huge annoyance considering they had been aware of our arrival and the size of our party in advance. The drinks are good and the food is good. I got shrimp hibachi and I don’t think I’ve ever received a smaller portion from a hibachi restaurant in my life which makes me sad. The hibachi experience itself was more than entertaining and the sake stream from the hibachi chefs was a lot of fun(and contributed to my hangover the next day). Two of my friends ordered sushi and pad Thai and enjoyed it. Gave it a 7 on a 10 scale. I will absolutely go back with my boyfriend on a date since I’m sure it shouldn’t be difficult to seat two people. I don’t think I’ll go back for hibachi just because I don’t feel that it’s worth my money, but will instead opt for the sushi or noodle options. Hopefully I can update this review in the future due to how difficult the process prior to getting seated and fed was.

We are suckers for simple maki sushi so when we looked up the menu for this new place, we decided to give it a shot. I did not expect the place to look so nice on the inside due to it’s location in a shopping center, but I was definitely impressed. Very good modern-feel. The staff were very nice and very informative of the menu. We both got two rolls a piece, two were spicy tuna and the other two were tuna avocado. They were 6-piece maki(I’m always hoping for 8), however, each roll was packed with tuna, and everything tasted very fresh. There is a clear glass window between the dining area and the hibachi area, so it was nice to be able to see throughout the whole restaurant, giving the area a nice open feel. The only criticism I have is, that due to the materials they used to build the interior(along with the design), it gets very loud in there very quickly. My fiancé and I had to speak very loudly to hear each other, and it was easy to tell that some of the other customers felt the same way. Nagoya is a nice, new hibachi spot in Tallahassee, and it’s definitely worth checking out(try the tuna avocado rolls!). Oh, and there’s a bar at the door, just in case there’s a wait…

It is 4 ¾ out of 5 for me! 5⁄5 décor-stunning textured black tile walls, stacked block, art glass pendant lighting, glass walls separating rooms. 5⁄5 on hibachi show-fun, entertaining and cool. 5⁄5 on hibachi taste-tried steak, shrimp and chicken. Also took home leftovers(and we shared) 4⁄5 on service; as they are brand new and still learning, though it was superior to most restaurants in town. We had shrimp dumplings and spring rolls as apps. Perfect! Fresh, tasty and sauces rocked. Best Mai Tai I have had in town. My companions White Russian was large, but a bit weak for my taste. Would go back just for that Mai Tai! Will do rolls on next visit. Menu is outstanding! If you have a group that has a vegan, paleo and gluten free eaters, everyone will be happy with the menu.

Welcome to Tallahassee, Nagoya! We have a new favorite place for hibachi and, very likely, sushi. Opening week can be a risky time to try a new restaurant as they work out kinks in the menu and the service. However Nagoya was like a well oiled machine despite being open for only 3 days. The service was fast and attentive, the food fresh and fantastic, and the décor delightful. You can find pictures and the menu in the photos section. We started with a sushi appetizer and a bottle of cold sake. Both hit the spot. We’ve noticed a trend in some local sushi places to increase the amount of rice and decrease the amount of fish in their tolls. Not Nagoya. The tolls were full of goodness, and looked fantastic. And the fact that they have Momokawa Pearl Sake is a real plus(we’ve been to their brewery in Oregon many times). The hibachi was outstanding. The veggies were fresh and cooked tender-crisp; the steak, chicken and shrimp were each seasoned well and cooked perfectly; and the chef put on a great show. And by all means, take advantage of the chefs sake offer from the squirt bottle: his aim was dead on and the sake quite tasty! We look forward to coming back soon to sample more of their sushi and kitchen offerings.
