Came here with my two kids and father in law for a quick dinner carefully timed so as they melted down we would be leaving prior to the dinner rush. Sakura was much nicer than originally expected. We were a little disappointed at first there wasn’t a traditional hibachi grill/entertainment but it didn’t matter as their excellent sushi bar made up for it. The food and service were both excellent and everyone seemed compassionate as my kids started melting down and we had to egress rapidly for immediate extraction. Parking for whatever reason is extremely important to me. Probably because I navigate a larger than average automobile. Either way parking was a snap, seated immediately, food and service was well above average!

One of my favorite sushi joints in Tallahassee. The food is fresh, and I like that large groups can get private rooms fairly easily. This was the first sushi place I tried sweet potato tempura sushi– and it was fantastic, with a little honey for dipping it into too. It is great. The service is always great, they are respectful an attentive, it is good value for the money too. Conveniently located downtown, it is the kind of place you can pop in to, dressed casual, but have a fine dining experience. If you like sushi — make sure Sakura is on your list.

The steak habachi was great. Wonderful pricing for all you can eat habachi. The meal was great except for the unprofessional waitress. A young Asian waitress who was obviously in high school, was very rude. Ill mannered in her service and was making a scene for attention around the restaurant. On multiple occasions she would address our table and be talking to another coworker. She was more worried about grasping the attention from the coworkers than bringing food to our table. I would return for food but most definitely not be seated with the same server. She was unprofessional and rude. The other servers were very attentive and would continue out on their duties to their tables.

Everything about our meal tonight was wonderful; the presentation, price, and taste were all definitely worth coming out. The only thing that took away from the meal overall was that the fried rice tasted like it had been cooked with or on the same surface as red meat which was a downer for my vegetarian friend who had been looking forward to it. But overall really good:)

Came here based on reviews and I’m impressed with the food, ambience and service. Must try the Garlic Edemane! Presentation of food was a surprise and delight upon arrival! Definitely worth a visit and I’ll come back again.

Our go to place for sushi during the week since it’s roughly the halfway point between where I work, and where my better half is employed. As usual we opted for the sushi roll lunch special(I went with three roll option with tuna, yellowtail, and eel). It is a great deal, and come with soup, salad, and three sushi rolls for $ 11. Our waitress was very friendly, and she was more than happy to swap out my wife’s soup for double salad. The rolls arrived after a short wait and were well prepared using fresh ingredients. On this particular visit, the yellowtail shined. Service was quick, the quality of the fish very good, and overall lunch was delicious.

Delicious, delicious, delicious! I was craving for some sushi and hands down I was very impressed with this spot. I came in on a Sunday evening and decided on takeout but service was quick and more importantly the food was fresh and good. I opted on an order sushimi and the Sakura maki roll. I will definitely like to come back during my next visit to Tallahassee.

Sakura, what happened? You were my Go To Place for great Japanese food. I am giving an overall of 3 stars based on including several previous visits. Sadly, if I had to give a rating for the last visit, it’d be 1 star. The shrimp and vegetable tempura was on the greasy side but edible. The miso soup tasted like a band aid — my dining companion thought his tasted like dirty socks. The hibachi filet mignon was coated with a sweet«glaze» otherwise known as teriyaki sauce. The filet was cut in minuscule pieces and the teriyaki sauce was overwhelming in both sweetness and sesame flavor. The crazy tuna roll also tasted off and there was an unusual sweetness to it as well. This was a great disappointment as I have dined at Sakura at least 4 times in the past and have ordered the same exact dishes and they were delicious. I only hope that this was a fluke, but I don’t think I will be back anytime soon.

I have been to various Sushi places in Florida and this would have to be one of the best. The happy hour is quite good too(BOGO on wine and beer), so if you need to relax after a long day at work or full class load, this place might be what you are looking for. Each month this restaurant features two unique sushi rolls that leaves your tongue craving for something new. Lunch specials are recognized not only for the money you save but for the deal in itself. You get a soup, salad, choice of two rolls or a hibachi box for a good price. I think it’s funny how the dynamic changes in this place from ghost town to New York busy and I mean busy. After our dine in experience this evening all the tables were taken leaving me shocked to my core. If you have children, this place is very kid friendly. This is going to be a weekly go to spot because of it’s location, deals, and parking. Word of mouth is not many other places around town have their own parking lot and I dislike trying to find parking in a busy scene. Don’t worry! Plenty of parking to go around. The atmosphere resembles the beautiful city of Tokoyo in the Fast and Furious without the guys fighting for who runs this town on speed. Come make your drift at Sakura. Happy Unilocaling! Ricky

3.5 star. Yeah, I’m kind of a sushi snob. I have to say the yellowtail w/jalapeño app was really good and worth ordering again. But I wasn’t impressed with the sushi roll and the rest of my dining experience. My standards are exceptionally high for sushi. My meal at iron chef Morimoto’s establishment forever ruined me. Since then, I have not had any Japanese that’s remotely close. I don’t expect to find that kind of sushi in Tallahassee. And I know it’s pointless to compare. To be fair, I was happy with the yellowtail app which was remarkable. The volcano roll, however, was average. The presentation was nice though because it was literally on fire! Here are a couple of gripes I have. First of all, I have to comment on the soy sauce. I’m 100% positive it’s not low sodium sushi soy sauce. It was way too salty for any kind of sushi. Please change it! Secondly, the price is a bit high. I’m still hungry after $ 30 for lunch. In other words, I’ve had way better sushi for a cheaper price. Would I be back? Possibly yes. Oh, I wanted uni sea urchin but they didn’t have any! I’ll be back when they have them.

I’m keeping my review at five stars because of the many(many, many…) meals I’ve had here there’s only been one off-note. The akami served as part of the chirashi(assorted sashimi with sushi rice) tasted very strange on Sunday. This part of maguro can be quite bitter and assertive but this took it to extremes. Quite unpleasant. I think it was just a bad cut because I’ve had it on other occasions and it’s been fine. The rest of the plate was superb, with the white fish(I can’t identify what it is) especially tasty. Unagi is still my favorite at this restaurant but really, I’d recommend anything except the akami.

I was quite impressed. We walked in, party of four, for my daughter’s birthday. We were greeted warmly and told that a table should be ready in 10 minutes. We were offered a seat at the bar or their small waiting area. As we turned to go, they asked us if we would like a drink while we wait. Wow. I know this shouldn’t impress me, as it is just good hospitality, but when was the last time I have been offered this small courtesy at a restaurant in this town? We ordered a round of drinks and waited for our table, which took, surprisingly, 10 minutes. Our server was fantastic. He seemed to be very busy, but he was friendly, and delivered everything as expected. He offered us another round of drinks, as it was happy hour, which we didn’t know. So, another round of drinks was ordered! The only downside was when I tried to order the Uni, but they were out, unfortunately. We had a great meal, ordering a few rolls and quite a few pieces of sushi. It was fun to receive and see interactive dishes with smoke, lights or fire accenting many dishes on their menu. My daughter proclaimed this to be her new favorite restaurant. As a family, we agreed this was our new spot for sushi. Prices were very fair, service was great and their focus on the guest from start to finish was impressive. Looking forward to returning.

I was skeptical about trying sushi near the gulf but I was pleasantly impressed. Everything I had at Sakura tasted fresh, healthy, and delicious. I recommend Dynamite for an appetizer, the teriyaki chicken, and their monthly specials. I’m visiting Tallahassee so if I ever come back I’ll definitely come to this restaurant for a great meal. They also have 2 for 1 happy hour on drinks and 30% off appetizers

By the time we finished work, it was almost 11:00 pm and I found that most restaurants in Tallahassee close by 9:00 or 10:00. Luckily we stumbled upon this restaurant, which was still serving dinner. I ordered the Hibachi Chicken, which came with a side of rice, hibachi vegetables, miso soup, and salad. The food was tasty and the price very reasonable. The atmosphere was nice, clean, and the service impeccable! Perfect ending to a very long work day!

UNI in TLH Score: 9⁄10. Quite fresh. Ably presented. I like Sakura. It has a good feel for both lunch and dinner, and the Itamae always appear on top of their game. Fellow diners had two vegetable hibachi lunch specials which came with ginger-dressed salads and miso soup. I had the Uni sushi with quail egg(served in hollowed cucumber bowl) and the sushi lunch special which consisted of tuna, salmon and yellowtail. Quite tasty.

Ohhhh lawd. Last night was my second trip to Sakura and I was just as happy as I was the first time. Sweetheart roll is fantastic and has a beautiful presentation, rocknroll is darn good too. Boyf had chicken hibachi last night, which was«pretty juicy» and flavorful. Miso is a little bland but not overly salty — which is huge. Great atmosphere and mood, sweet servers and hostesses. Only beer and wine, nothing on tap.
