Seriously? I read the reviews and I must be in the wrong place. I dropped by after a business meeting downtown. Admittedly it is only 6:30 on a Wednesday night in early December. The place was a morgue. Nobody looked like they were having fun. I think I counted 10 people tops in the place who looked kinda blah. There were two bartenders(ladies) who were actually a bit cold. To be fair I think maybe one of them was training; but they sire didn’t seem particularly friendly-and it wasn’t because they were busy. Not sure if they serve food at all as described in previous reviews. Certainly didn’t seem that way. The other thing is that they are playing REALLY traditional Christmas songs. Nothing wrong with that. But kind of tough to lighten the mood with the London Symphony and a boys choir belting out«NOEL». Bottom line: I had a drink and went next door in search of a fun vibe. Hey it’s been a long day and this is TAMPA! More to come…

The Hideaway Downtown is definitely hidden away, as in it is a bit hard to find. But it is well worth looking for. We recently had a special event here and they did a fantastic job. They were extremely accommodating and helped us with all of our needs way better than we could have hoped for. The manager Bart was super friendly and made us all fee welcome. The location was really nice and had a super upscale yet approachable vibe. The liquor menu is pretty impressive and the special smoked cocktails that they prepared were fantastic. Add to this that the prices were reasonable at $ 7-$ 9 for craft cocktails and premium liquors. And then they share a menu with the neighboring pub. I was hoping for a slightly more high end fare considering that this is a classy place but what they have is well made, fresh, tasty, and reasonably priced! If only I didn’t live in Clearwater… oh wait, they now have Hideaways all over including in Safety Harbor which is right around the corner. Thank you again for a great experience at a great venue! We are grateful and will definitely be back.

No more Sushi, i repeat no more Sushi, don’t come for the Sushi you need to come for the awesome environment, phenomenal staff and the synergy between Maloneys and Hideaway. Great place to eat, drink and have a great time with friends and the staff will turn into your friends on your first visit, luv this place

To begin with, my gps walked us to the completely wrong place, it said this bar was located where the gym was but that’s besides the point… Went here on a Friday night and the place was dead so I can’t speak to the crowd much. The bathrooms were clean! The indoor space is nice and open to the outside with pool tables and a large bar. They are right next door to Maloney’s and had their adjoining door open so we went next door to enjoy the live band.

This is the first time I was here since it changed over from being a sushi place and using the Maloney’s menu. The beers on tap are different and much more limited than the Maloney’s side, but they still had a good variety. The biggest turn off was the bartender who just moved from TN. She started out very good and was attentive to our drinks, but as the night progressed, she proceeded to tell very graphic details of her personal life including her current living situation. The level of drama was just much and not what I wanted to hear when trying to eat my food.

The sushi here was mediocre in my opinion. They are now CLOSED.

Hideaway is already CLOSED. The sushi and other food was really good, but they wanted to be a club more than a restaurant… need to cater to your the needs of the business, and people in Channelside wanted a good sushi joint more than a club.

My friend, fiancé, and I came in on a slow night because my friend’s brother is the head chef here. He ended up making most of our items on the fly, i.e., they weren’t specific types of sushi rolls or items on the menu. We did get one item on their appetizers list which was the sesame encrusted tuna. Overall, the sushi ingredients were fresh and each roll was flavorful. Most menu items are $ 5 – 12, so the price point is a little higher compared to other sushi places. They do offer craft beer drafts, including local selections, as well as various specialty drinks and sake. They have special menu items each day. The restaurant is owned by the same owner of the pub next store. For dessert, we were able to order either a peanut butter pie or brownie for dessert. Not what you’d expect after eating sushi, but it’s good to know their are options. Service was good and attentive. The atmosphere is not typically my style(it is more of a lounge), but it’s to be expected to drawn in a more upscale crowd. This is not my favorite sushi place in the area, but it is pretty fantastic and a great place to try if you’re dining in downtown Tampa.

Great vibe, seating, décor and lighting with lively DJ. The staff is very new but the make all the effort to provide good service. Management is very engaged both with the staff and patrons. The drinks are a bit expensive but we hear there are specials to come. The sushi and sashimi is very fresh and colorful. Flavor is amazing, we loved the spicy tuna sashimi and the platter was a great deal.

This sushi place recently opened at Grand Central Channelside. Hideaway shares the space with Maloney’s Irish Pub. It’s smaller than expected inside but they have an outside patio area too. Full bar with cool drinks like, my new favorite the Martini with the baby Octopus… yup you heard right. We ordered a few things and I got to taste some of them like the Mexican, the Sunshine and the Grand Central. GC is all seafood and veggies for those avoiding rice, the Sunshine was my favorite this time around it has a hint of lemon. They open at 3pm so don’t expect to have lunch here, staff is very friendly and helpful.
