We live in Land O Lakes and will drive here for dinner any time. We enjoy this place so much. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. It’s an older building with so much character. The food is on point every time. The stuffed snapper is not to be missed. The steaks are incredible. It’s all incredible. The wine pours are very generous. We love the staff, especially CJ and Michele. Our latest visit was Feb. 15, we had a day late Valentines dinner and it was amazing. We had our two favorite servers, the chef came out to check on our food. We had wine, great conversation and attention to every detail. Do not overlook this place for an amazing meal and night out. They do it right here every time. Don’t miss the early bird specials they have as well.

Wow. Terrible. Almost no service, food was cold when it finally came after an hour, didn’t come with any sides(escargot didn’t even have toast with it) My server at least was apologetic, only reason not a one star. Absolute fail, go somewhere else.

Reservation for 8pm. Seated at 8:35ish with most of the restaurant empty. We ordered waters while we looked over the menu an had to wait almost another 30min for the waiter to come back to ask us what we wanted to eat. The food was good, not amazing. The atmosphere is great though. I loved the live guitarist playing Spanish music.

Meh. We were a bit underwhelmed by this restaurant. It’s got a cool atmosphere but that’s about the extent of it. We ordered the tuna appetizer… the tuna was pretty good but just covered with too many other ingredients that overpowered it. My husband ordered the churrasco steak — ordered it medium but it was well done and bland. The side of shrimp was over cooked. Really not to much was impressive. Definitely don’t plan to put this place on repeat!

We come a few times throughout the year. You can not go wrong with the specials here always perfectly done prime rib! Martinis are cheap and good before 7pm! I always recommend this place! $ 9.99 for prime rib .99 for a wedge salad… let me tell you… you will not regret the prime rib special… remember to get in before 6:30 pm to take adavantage… tell them Moe sent you! :))

Awful. Ordered a Midori Sour and was served Dekuyper melon. Sent back, but still charged for Midori. Prime rib was ordered medium well. Waiter gave it to another diner. After the other diner ate some, I actually had to ask for it to be re-plated! The ‘medium well’ came out charred beyond well done. Waiter never checked back to the table, so I waited and waited and then just ate it cold. AWFUL experience. Appearance of an upscale restaurant but food and performance of the worst restaurant you’ve ever been to. Avoid this place.

I truly suggest that no one eats at Carne, it took them 4 times to bring my prime rib out correctly. It took my house 3 tries before his was correct. I personally had to go in and speak to the manager. He didn’t have the time to speak with me but the gave me half of. Sorry, personally that’s unacceptable. When you run a restaurant you make time for your patrons. So beware, if you come to ybor, stay away from Carne strakhouse! If I could give a zero I would but, Unilocal doesn’t let you!

I’ve been here twice, both times for the $ 2 martinis until 7pm. Absolutely accommodating staff who do not mind those that gather for a cheap drink. Beautiful interior with plenty of seating near the bar. Carne is owned by the same man who owns Green Iguana, Tequila’s and Bernini in Ybor(Bernini has the same $ 2 Finlandia martini special). I’ve met him before and he is such a nice and down-to-earth person! I have yet to try the Prime Rib special for under $ 10, but plan to do so soon! This is a lovely place to gather with friends for drinks or go out for a fancy dinner. Located right next to Centro Ybor.

Excellent upscale American steak house with sometimes boorish low class clientele. They have some very sweet happy hour deals, which may account for some of the boorish low class clientele. I think their bread and butter, so to speak, are regulars who are people who have developed and sophisticated tastes. No insulting up-charges for drinks ordered straight, neat or on the rocks here. Instead, we found a friendly, highly skilled bartender who mixed me a proper vodka martini straight up with a minuscule amount of vermouth for only $ 2. Say what? I’ll take seconds then, I’m not driving. I really don’t think a cosmo is a martini, but the Chief of Staff got a very competent one for the same price. And then, of course, another. The well-earned tip(based on the actual price of the drinks) was more than the drinks! Plus, it’s easily the classiest bar around.

As a regular at Carne Chophouse I can honestly say the food is always on point, but service has been hit or miss. But since we found Joshua as a Waiter we go their with high expectations. Always personable always professional. Ask for Joshua when being seated for sure.

Stopped in last night for the first time and was very impressed. We were celebrating my girls birthday and we were waited on by the amazing CJ. We ordered the escargot which was delicious and wedge salads which were very good as well. The Cowboy Ribeye was one of the best steaks I have had out. Cooked to perfection medium. The Macaroni and Cheese was Awesome. You have to go and check this place out.

Beautiful, grand Ybor restaurant with a beautiful atmosphere. Super early bird discount of their prime rib or fish n chips for $ 9.99 and $ 2 martinis. Our server, Sandy is a lovely and mature woman who has worked there for years. She is proud of their food quality and provided excellent service. Ask for Sandy!

Carne is center located in the the heart Ybor. The restaurant is a historic building in Ybor. Many local people has pass by may not notice this is a historic building. The interior is really nice. Do you know the owner parent dance in this hall before he invested and become the restaurant. The deco is really nice when you walk in the dinning hall. The service here is on the point and fast since they have enough manpower. Do you know they run special before 7 pm. The special are the Prime Rib and Fish & Chip for $ 9.99. Good deal. We have ordered the prime rib and the Carne Hanger Steak Chimichurri. The prime rib is big and thick. I like the juicy steak. The hanger steak is well marinated. The outside well brown and not charcoal. I like the burn a bit taste. The steak is perfect and soft. Overall we have a good experience. No wow factor but solid restaurant.

I really wanted to love this place. I mean I did when we had the Unilocalies, but they fell short on this night. We arrived before the Kevin Smith show and since we were early, we opted to pick up a quick dinner. We waited. and waited to be acknowledged for a seat. When we were seated… we waited again. 7 minutes passed before someone saw us waiting and asked if anyone had been over. When we said no, he found our waiter and then came back over to us and told us that he’d picked up a table outside and he’d be right with us. From then on out, the service was acceptable, but that really left a bad taste in our mouths. The food though, it was good. We ordered the deviled egg appetizer and it was so tasty. And both of us got the classic wedge salad. Both of these items were quick and delicious. We just had to wait again for the bill. Once we paid that, we were out on our way to see our show. I can see where this could be a problem for folks in a hurry.

It has really been hit or miss. At least this visit last Saturday was a hit. We had a big group, again, and although the reservation was made a little short, management went out of their way to add another table, even though the place was slammed. Our waiter, Peter, really made it awesome. He was on top of his game and was ahead of us on anything we needed. He even cut the birthday cake that was brought in from Publix and distributed pieces to everyone. This was after we closed our checks. His service was, hands down, the best service I’ve experienced anywhere with a large group. We’ll be asking for his section next time. The food was better than last time, too. The prime rib special was hot and not super fatty. The sides were just as good, too. The $ 2 martinis topped everything off and Peter got them to us as fast as possible, usually asking us if we wanted another as we were finishing the round we were on. Thanks to Peter and Carne for making it a great night for our birthday girl and the 20 other people at our table!

Considering I live by Carne and eat out every meal, it’s not a good sign that I’ve only been here 3 times. Twice when it first opened a few years ago and once recently when I had family come into town. They wanted steak so we walked over to Carne for their prime rib special. None of us were impressed. The prime rib was very fatty and bland. The service was extremely slow and not very friendly. Speaking of which, I don’t think I’ve ever seen the host smile. He doesn’t seem to like his job. I give them two stars because the ambience/décor is nice and the prices are decent; however, food/service is below average.

Made reservations but didn’t really need them as not super busy for a Sunday. Waitstaff very attentive for most of the meal but when finished waited about 10 minutes before we saw our waitress again to get our check. Escargot and onion soup was excellent. Cooked just right with delicious flavors. Cuban bread came with an herb butter. I didn’t try it but others said it was very good they said would have been better if bread was warm. Several of us really wanted the fried oyster appetizer but waitress said they sold out on Friday due to a big private party which was disappointing. Entrees come with a side usually listed with the meal. All other sides are additional and premium sides cost more. They do have a very nice selection of side dishes to choose from though. You can add a wedge salad to steak entrees for small amount as well as the onion soup. Ambiance is restaurant is very cozy and inviting but lighting is very dim and makes menu hard to read. Still an excellent restaurant with great choices.

I have very mixed feelings about the entire experience. Initially, it took a few minutes for someone to come to the host stand to seat us, but we were a few minutes late for our reservation, so, no points deducted here. We were seated with 2 regular menus, we had to take the Valentine’s specials menu with us as they did not grab one on the way for us. It took a good while for our waitress to greet us and we ordered waters and needed some time to review the menu(s) as first timers. We decided to order cocktails and give us a chance to see what was cookin’. I requested lemons 3 times over a 15 or 20 minute period before I could get them. The waitress did not seem terribly knowledgeable about how certain foods were prepared or if they could be prepared a certain way or not, she did finally ask the kitchen about one item. I had to ask what the soup du jour was. When we finally did order, my husband ordered one item and then were told they were out. He ordered something else. We were not off to a good start. Enough with the nit picking, let’s get onto the food. We ordered the mussels app, it was a petite portion, but good enough to share with 2. The flavor was also surprisingly good. We ordered a caesar salad to share. The runner had 2 full salads on 2 separate plates, I thought that was a huge portion if we were splitting it, but as it turned out only one was for us(the other was for a table nearby which was being served to them after their entrees were served and eaten, they requested to have it removed from the bill). Our caesar showed up on a platter with several stalks of romaine. Full stalks, nothing cut, and sprinkled parm and a couple large croutons and a couple croûton shavings. We needed an extra plate, requested it from the food runner and we never saw him again… one of us had to eat the salad on the tiny bread plate because we couldn’t find the waitress either. Dinner came, mine a good bit under done, my husband’s a tad overdone. My 6oz portion was only ½ eaten, all around the more done edges because I will have to cook it further to eat the middle 3oz. Based on the time it took to get anything and I don’t like sending food back in fear of what might happen to it behind my back, I decided that I’d finish my baked potato(fully loaded and it was good) and with the salad and mussels and dessert we were planning to have, it would be enough. And it was. As the meal went on, the experience got better and so did our service as it was emptying out, so I’m giving this an average rating because the entire experience was pretty average. It wasn’t terrible. It wasn’t great. I’m not sure I’d come again, though…

Been here a couple of times before and each time was a good experience. This is located in a renovated, beautiful historical building space in Centro Ybor. I’m not too familiar with the history of this particular space, but there is certainly a lot of architectural charm to it which has lasted throughout the century. They have a nice selection of food and drinks. during happy hour, they have two dollar martinis! The martinis are delicious, by the way. if you’re into seafood, I would recommend the stuffed snapper. The steaks here are delicious too.

Why 5 stars? Because 2.5 years later, it’s still awesome. — — — I wanted to check out Carne again, and I was not disappointed. Last time I tried the prime rib, and this time I went with the cowboy ribeye. Both were perfect! And I’ve had a lot of bad prime rib since my original visit to Carne, so I appreciate theirs even more now. I grill steaks at home once a week, and when I do, I usually am not shy with pouring BBQ sauce on top. The steaks at Carne as so juicy and flavorful, asking for condiments would be an insult to the chef and your own self-respect. The term«mouth watering» is an overused cliché that should be banned from our language… but as I was reminiscing about that steak just now, I physically felt it happening. That’s impressive. I have honestly not had a been thing here to-date. I love everything all the way down to the little details like the silver, worn metal looking plates that they serve you with. I love all things Ybor City, and remember a time when this beautiful building was totally uninhabited. What a shame that was. But HUGE kudos to Carne for not only filling the space, but doing so with such an awesome local business for our city. I think I’m officially motivated to hit them up for every different kind of steak that they serve. This Unilocaling thing isn’t for the skinny.
