Since the switch to online ticket sales using Ticketleap, the lines at check-​in are no longer an issue, and paying with a credit card is a snap. Call-​in reservations and reserved seats are limited to Season Ticket Holders and Groups over 10 only, everyone else is general admission, which is fine because the theatre is so small, there are only a handful of lesser seats. If you want a «good» one and to be seated with your friends, it’s best to arrive early. I saw a party of 8 show up at one minute before curtain of a sold out performance thinking they could all sit together. Lobby has been re-​done and a small black box theatre added for special and more off-​beat productions. Lots of positive changes!

This was awesome. The Carrollwood Players held a yard sale and I found out about it. I love costumes and I wanted to check out what I might find…
What I found was pretty amazing. I got a tuxedo for my husband, it was the perfect fit, I got a cutaway tuxedo jacket for me, because when I do my Ring Master work, I need this. I got several eccumenical robes, some wigs and some Ren Faire garb, and the best part of this. I paid $ 2.00 for all of it. Yep a whole sum of $ 2.00

I was surfing the Unilocal events section when I came across the Carrollwood Players theater and their last night of Little Shop of Horrors. My husband always talks about this musical so I figured he would be game to go see it. Truthfully, I was a bit nervous about the theater. I hadn’t heard about it before but I was willing to give it a try.
The waiting area was rather large for a small venue. There’s a lot of seating available, a bit mismatched and thrown together. However, it all actually went together quite well. It felt like old Hollywood. At the box office near the end of the room, we were helped by a very friendly staff. You could tell that everyone knew each other well. I kinda felt like they knew we were strangers but they were nice enough to make us feel welcomed. We also got a military discount, which was nice.
The show itself was fantastic. They have some real talent at Carrollwood Players. We had front row seats and I was very glad for that. We had prime seating to hear the singing and see the stage. It’s not a large space but it was great, beyond what I had expected. This theater definitely has a personal community touch to it. I would definitely make another visit, only this time with no hesitation at all!

What a great little playhouse. Fantastic plays to be seen. Price is so reasonable and what fun!!! The fact that volunteers run it, is awesome. We will definitely go again.

This gem is Carrollwood’s best kept secret! You get the same quality performances of the Straz without the price tag. The actors, directors, producers, etc. are all volunteers who eat, sleep and breathe theatre. The lighting and set design combination of Frank Stinehour and James Cass is magic. If you want affordable and excellent entertainment, this is an exceptional venue for mystery, comedy, drama, music, improv comedy, and other variety talent.

The wife and I volunteer here all the time. Production is always incredible. Cash, Check, and Credit Card accepted. Coffee, Soda, and Cupcakes (Awesome) available for purchase.

a friend of a friend was performing at a play here, so thats how i ended up here to begin with. this small town theater sits on a shopping plaza conveniently located in the middle of nowhere. they do not take credit cards/​atm cards which — considering its 2013 — really, really blows.
the music in between intermissions was painfully awful. honestly, i thought someone was pranking us. they even played «never gonna give you up.» so now i can legitimate say that ive gotten rickrolled at a suburban theater. beat that. as a result of this, they get an extra star for their diabolical yet unintentional sense of humor.

Want to see a great show, for a very off-​off-​Broadway price? Look no further than Carollwood Playhouse, conveniently located off of Gunn Highway. The actors are very dedicated to their roles, and each season brings a great variety of comedies, murder mysteries, old standards and rare gems.
I’ve seen times when the reserved seating process gets a tad disorderly and confusing when there’s a full house, but to be honest, that’s the only negative experience I’ve ever had there.
The interior ambiance is much improved since the place expanded several years ago. A foyer provides a comfortable place to relax with sodas, wine or beer prior to the show. And after the show ends, the actors line up for a short meet-​and-​greet.
You owe it to yourself to appreciate all the undiscovered talent in our own backyard!
