Another trip to the USF part of town, another great excuse to have lunch at Chicken Salad Chick. I truly love the owners. Always happy to see them as they recognize regulars like me. It should also mean something that they are so tangibly involved in things like taking orders and running food out to people on the floor. Today was the first time I tried the new curry flavor as it is on a special seasonal menu. Much like virtually every other flavor, I enjoyed it very much and came away impressed. Also, I put my chicken salad on a croissant today for the first time and loved it. If I was living or working near USF, I would eat here once a week minimum(Much like one of my favorite Unilocal Elites in Diane G.) for the food and the friendly atmosphere. This remains one of my favorite Tampa Bay Area lunch spots. Unique. Comfy. Consistently good.

So when we walked in the other day, I found it funny it was predominantly guys, a lot in working uniforms. Funny because the interior and branding are very geared toward women. So don’t be surprised if that happens to be your experience. There really shouldnt be a gender divide when the food is this good. The pricing is around what I typically spend for a casual lunch, competing options would be tijuana and chipotle. Honestly, chicken salad chick has taken the #1 slot for me. It’s a new year and these chicken salads are healthy, taste amazing, and go down well. There is also variety to mix it up. Dont be overwhelmed with the number of chicken salad variations, just ask for a taste test. Ingredients are fresh. Soups and cookies are respectable and many chicken salad flavors are fantastic. This is a regular lunch spot for me already.

Today for lunch, I was in the USF area and decided to stop and check out a new chicken salad restaurant that my friend Chris W. has been raving about. Chicken Salad Chick is located in the shopping center at the intersection of Bruce B. Downs and Fowler Avenue. It’s tucked behind Chili’s(which can be seen from the road), and next door to Ichiban Sushi. There’s plenty of outdoor seating which will be nice in the warmer months, and a large dining area with a private dining room for groups. Chicken Salad Chick is actually a lady — Stacy Brown, to be exact. She went in search of the perfect chicken salad, and started tinkering around with various recipes until she developed THEBEST. She and her husband started a chain of Southern-style tea houses which serve chicken salad, deli sandwiches, homemade soups, and typical Southern sides(broccoli salad, grape salad, pasta salad, and fresh fruit). You start by selecting your flavor of chicken salad. There are at least 15 styles to choose from, including pimento cheese, apples & grapes, curry, sweet pickles & hard-boiled egg, diced jalapenos, etc. Then you decide if you just want a simple scoop of the chicken salad, or if you want a chicken salad sandwich. Then you select one of their sides, and get all of that on a platter along with a pickle spear, wheat crackers, *AND* a warm white chocolate chip fresh-out-of-the-oven cookie. *insert choir of singing angels here* I tried the Dixie Chick version of the chicken salad which added a dose of diced onions to the mix of diced chicken, mayonnaise, seasonings, and love. I opted for a bowl of fresh fruit for my side which was strawberries, blueberries, and seedless grapes. Their platters allow you to mix and match different styles of chicken salad, or a cup of soup and a half sandwich. You can even buy chicken salad by the pound to take home(or back to the office). The decorations are very quaint and genteel, and remind me of my Mom’s very Southern kitchen with pale green and cream colors throughout. You almost expect a lady in an apron to bring you your food, and then whisk away the empty dishes at the end of your meal. Ordering is done in a cafeteria-style line, and then they’ll bring you your trays of food as they pop out of the kitchen. If you have trouble deciding which type of chicken salad you’d like to try, they will offer you free samples. Nom Nom Nom!

I’m so happy we decided to give Chicken Salad Chick a try. First of the décor is beautiful and the restaurant is clean and inviting. The owner and all the employees are super nice and tries their best to satisfy you. We were able to sample a few varieties of the different chicken salads and they were all delicious, it was so hard to pick but I finally decided on the Fancy Nancy and my friend had the Cranberry Kelli. We both loved our sandwiches and we will be back tomorrow for more. FYI make sure to try the broccoli salad you won’t be disappointed, I don’t eat raw vegetables and I almost licked the bowl.

I love this concept. Food is fresh. I ordered classic chick w pasta salad on a croissant. Chicken salad had perfect amount of mayonnaise, and they give you a good portion. 15 different flavors and homemade pimento cheese is available by the pound.

This corner has been vacant for years, but Chicken Salad Chick has really made great use of the space! Adorable, comfortable interior made for a really nice lunch spot. We were able to sample a few flavors before committing, but I ended up with the Kickin’ Kay Lynne scoop(has nice flavor, but I wouldn’t say it was«spicy» by any means). The Buffalo Barclay was also good, but not too terribly spicy. The broccoli salad was really tasty, I liked how it wasn’t drenched in dressing and was very light. Good place for a lighter lunch that won’t leave you dragging the rest of the day. I’ll be back to try more flavors! Make sure to get their app to rack up points for freebees. One option I do wish they had was to get a scoop of chicken salad on an actual salad for those who want more veggies instead of carbs.

Had a lovely experience at chicken salad chicks today. Came here for lunch with my mom and sister. Its a cute shabby chic spot that is casual and gives off a homey vibe. The services was exceptional, immediately was kindly greeted by the manager who took the time to go over the menu and make a few suggestions. We Sampled a couple different salads and decided on the sassy south chicken salad on croissant which can come as a combo with soup, pickle, and a cookie. The whole meal was delicious! I will definitely return and Would definitely recommend this spot for lunch.

This is a nice casual counter service restaurant. The décor is very nice, clean, and comfortable. The chicken salad is tasty. I had the Fancy Nancy on a croissant. The flavors blended together nicely. My son had the Buffalo Barclay, which was nicely spicy. The grape salad was tasty and sweet. The staff was very friendly. It was a nice change from chick fil a and Boston Market.

There is a new chick in town and I hope that she stays around for a long time. I liked this franchise way better than I thought that I would. I was expecting a small place that only does take out because who builds a restaurant around chicken salad? Well, apparently they do! Not only do they have a good amount of seating, but there’s also a private room in the back. A lot of the menu selections are off-limits to me because I have a nut allergy but that’s not a big deal because I already found«my flavor». «Olivia’s old south» has egg and sweet pickles in it and is simply delicious. I like getting the special called«the original chick». It contains a scoop(or sandwich), a pickle spear, a side item, and a cookie. A lot of really smart design decisions are in play here. There’s a long, comfortable bench for you to sit on if you are waiting for a to go order. They’ve also got an app that you can use to scan a QR code on your receipt in order to accumulate reward points. Thanks to the bonus for signing up after two visits I’ve already accumulated almost 50 points. When I get to 100 I’ll get a free small cooler! On my first visit the owner stopped by our table to talk to us and was friendly and engaging. The only reason I’m giving them four stars is because their hours completely suck. I would love to be able to have this as a dinner option but they close at 7PM, which is way earlier than I like to eat dinner. I’d also like to come here for a Sunday lunch but they’re closed the whole day on Sunday. In a humorous way they play up the feminine side of this restaurant. In the men’s room there’s even a sign that thanks you for putting up with it. As a guy I have no hesitation about coming here. I’m able to get a big scoop of tasty protein with some fresh fruit on the side. As far as I’m concerned this is a rock solid lunch choice.

Great Meal and Customer Service Experience! «Chicken Salad Chick» is a new restaurant to the Tampa Bay area. Just had a great meal that included excellent customer service. Wide variety of flavors and seasonings. Broccoli & Cheddar soup was great too! Nice décor and a welcomed addition to the USF /North Tampa area for a healthy and tasty alternative. Meal was ready fast and the staff was very helpful with explaining the restaurant’s history, menu options, and offered samples to help learn the menu options. They even have catering options for office or group lunches. We will be making this a regular stop for our family. Thanks for taking North Tampa eating options up a notch. A must try for yourself.

I tried Chicken Salad Chick for the first time the other day and was impressed with what I had. I had the half-soup and half-sandwich for around ~$ 7. Choosing which chicken salad to eat was a challenge — luckily they allow you to try samples of anything you like at the register so I tried a few before deciding on my final choice which contained cashews and apples. The soup depends on the soup of the day which was broccoli cheddar on this day. The sandwich was on honey croissant bread which was perfectly soft and tasted great with the chicken salad. I’m not normally a soup person and I can be pretty picky on soups — but I really liked the broccoli cheddar soup at Chicken Salad Chick and it scooped it up into my stomach rather quickly. The atmosphere at Chicken Salad Chick is very quaint and could easily be used for things like baby showers and corporate meetings. They have a private room in the back with a television that we sat in out of curiosity. The thing I like most about Chicken Salad Chick though is that everything tastes fresh and doesn’t leave you feeling gross afterwards. As chicken has expanded into the fast-casual and fast-food market — too many places leave you with a bad feeling afterwards — but I noticed Chicken Salad Chick served you just enough food and that it was all«feel good» food and didn’t taste super processed like other chicken chains. I also really like their app and rewards system which is as simple as scanning your receipt with the app. According to the app, they’ll have online ordering soon as well. I’ll definitely be back soon.

They make a pretty good chicken salad here, but it’s not 5 stars good. The overall feeling of the restaurant is very clean, shabby chic, fast casual. And the prices are pretty darned good. However, the chicken salad was only okay. I tried their buffalo chicken salad. There was a lot of chicken, but it was completely tasteless, probably because the chicken was shredded so finely. Bigger pieces would have been better. Also, there were no veggies in the chicken salad, so the texture was very homogenous. A little celery or green onion would have added some very welcome crunch. I agree the grape salad is good.

I’ve had lunch here every day for the last three days… take-out the first two, and I finally had the opportunity to sit and enjoy a meal with a coworker today. The restaurant is new, very bright and clean, tastefully decorated, and has the feel of dining in someone’s home(someone very clean and with a talent for decorating). The restaurant is fast-casual style, where you order and pay at a counter, prepare your own drink, and your food is delivered to your table shortly after; except here, someone stopped by our table several times during our visit and cleared away our items for us as they emptied… very nice touch. If you are ordering take-out, there is a long bench opposite the counter where you can sit and wait for your order to be brought out… another nice touch! Over this three-day binge, I ordered the Chick Trio all three days and was able to try seven different chicken salads(there are about fifteen on the menu, so I’ve only been through about half of them so far) as well as the pimento cheese. Obviously, I found them all to be delicious or I would not have kept coming back. My favorite so far has to be Olivia’s Old South, which is mixed with sweet pickles and hard boiled eggs, with the Buffalo Barclay(chicken salad’s version of chicken wings) coming in at a close second. The service was prompt and friendly, and everyone who helped me was well-informed on the menu. I would only change two things to enhance my(personal) dining experience if I could… I am addicted to the newer freestyle soda machines that offer a plethora of regular and diet soda flavor combos, so I would have loved to have seen one of those here; and I would love it if I could substitute the side of crackers on the Chick Trio with a side of celery sticks.

Very surprised at the reviews, decent sandwich… I was expecting much more flavor. The grape salad was more impressive than the chicken salad. I’d spend 8 dollars for a meal there not 13 again.

This place is exquisite! It is hard to describe how perfect the décor is — soft grays and greens with well designed accents, and little hints of Southern charm and humor. And the food is incredible! I had the Luau Lydia(their amazing chicken salad with macadamia nuts & pineapple) on a croissant with the grape salad. Everything was fresh and well seasoned with a great balance of flavors. My meal also included a cookie(yum!) and I had some tasty iced tea. The staff was very helpful & friendly. I can’t wait to come back!

After hearing raving reviews about this place that just recently opened here locally, I was dying to try it since good chicken salad is hard to find and my one go-to place closed a few years ago. The restaurant was very clean and adorably decorated with real tables and tablecloths, with booths nicely spaced to be like a real sit-down restaurant. I was pleasantly greeted and decided to try the Classic Carol. I figured a good test of a basic chicken salad was to start with the original. I had my order to-go and it was promptly delivered. I had ordered the Original Chick combo which came with a side and a cookie-of-the-day. I ordered my sandwich on a croissant, which was light and flaky, but not so much that it fell apart. I was disappointed in the chicken salad itself though. Thankfully it was not drowning in mayo, but there was barely any flavor to it at all, most definitely it did not seem to contain the celery and spices that the sales clerk said it had. There was also more bread than chicken salad. Perhaps regular sandwich bread would have been better, but I am not a fan of «just bread». Surprisingly, the pasta salad I chose as a side was extremely tasty, the pasta was cooked al dente and had a great seasoning blend. The cookie-of-the-day was a lemon cookie and it was delicious — soft yet chewy. Overall, I was a little disappointed it didn’t «blow my socks off» like I had read that it would do, and I might be convinced to give it another try, choosing a different chicken salad flavor and bread. I will note that I can foresee this location having a huge parking problem. It is just a few doors down from the popular Tijuana Flats and sits behind Chili’s, so parking was at a premium, and it wasn’t even the lunch rush-hour yet. I will also add how utterly disappointed I was to find they use styrofoam and plastic bags for their to-go meals, when there are so many eco-friendly options on the market. Not sure how the eat-inside meals are served, hopefully not also styrofoam. Especially being near the University, they really need to get with the times environmentally. Heck, even McDonald’s uses paper wrap or paper boxes. #happychick #chickensaladchick

I’ve been looking forward to the opening of this restaurant since it was announced in early spring. Chicken salad is one of my favorite things to order in a sandwich type shop and a whole restaurant of different types of chicken salad seems like a dream come true for me! The Chicken Salad Chick did not disappoint! The restaurant itself is very charming– I love the table cloths and the décor. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner and the greeter went over the menu with us. I had a sample of the Luau Lydia and decided that was what I wanted. My daughter was convinced she didn’t like chicken salad and since she had recently eaten, decided to just have the cookie that came with my meal. I also ordered a side of the broccoli salad. The food was served super quickly and my daughter decided that she would just try the chicken salad. She loved it! The food seemed so fresh and healthy. The chicken salad is primarily meat and is not drowning in mayo. It’s also not overly sweet– I thought it was perfect. The broccoli salad was a good sized portion — it had cheese and some type of dressing mixed in. It is usually topped with bacon but I don’t eat pork so I had them leave it off. The meal also came with a pickle and crackers. I thought it was very filling and delicious! My daughter also tried the Barbie Q flavor and loved it too. We will definitely be back! #chickensaladchick #happychick
