Chubby’s Super Subs & Pizza

Chubby’s is no longer a SOG staple. Having been a customer since I was child, I now am left with memories of a restaurant I once enjoyed.
The original owner sold the place several years ago. While different, the pizzas and food were still good. We started to notice a decline in service and food quality about a year ago. After my most recent experience, I am absolutely certain, I will not be ordering from Chubby’s again. The pizza is just not my cup of tea. The sauce sweet/​and I mean sweet (like ragu)…crust was soggy, cheese was over cooked… just not good.
I know in past reviews people commented on the clowns once adorning the walls of this classic establishment. Let’s just say, those were the days!

So disappointed! I’ve known Chubby’s to have amazing Cheesesteak subs since I was a little girl… like double digit years, and man was I disappointed. Everything has changed since my last visit, granted its been several years but the cheesesteak I just had was no better than something from a Circle K. And after I hyped it up to my friend who is visiting. I really don’t know how to accurately convey my disappointment and utter shock at the quality and taste. Coulda been a bad night, could just not be the same as old times :/

This review will be something I’ve never done.
I had an order where the driver couldn’t seem to find my address… its pizza on a Friday and shit happens right?! So I call about an hour later… give or take… the manger jumps on the phone and tells me that the driver couldn’t find my address. Hahah no biggie, what set me off was the manager started to make excuses for him instead of trying to make it right! we went back and forth finally coming to the concussions that I just wanted my pizza… no hand outs, no free pizza. I paid in full and tipped the guy who dropped it off! And they even tossed in a few discount cards, with or without those cards I was gonna order again!
Fast forward 2 months! I call for some good pizza, they send me to hold after realizing my number… I get the owner, he starts to tell me he can’t deliver to my address because of MANY situations that have happened at my address hahah… as someone who works in the industry I’m just blown away with the BS of this company and am just floored with the response that I was given. No matter how good your food is, it’s your job as a service industry rep to take care of the customer! Yea you guys have good pizza but your ethics sucks!

First time I went there they accidentally double charged me. The manager called me immediately after and corrected the problem. Both times I’ve been there the food has been fantastic as well.

Great little place to grab fresh sandwiches and pizza. The prices are a tad high but it’s very worth it since everything is hand made and fresh to order.

Oh my goodness, I just ordered a medium cheese pizza from here, and it is delicious! I love the flavor! From the cheese to the soft crust, so damn good!
Not to mention how great the service was. The man on the phone was fast and courteous, and the delivery man was kind and friendly. I will DEFINITELY order from here again

Me and my friend came here on our lunch break, it took a while to get our food but that just means they were baking the pizza on the spot instead of being frozen. I ordered 1 small pizza and 2 soft drinks (we shared) and it came out to $ 11 which isnt terrible. The pizza came out hot. My only problem was the overall taste, it was bland it just tasted like something you get in a middle school cafeteria. I ate it because I was starving but I probably wont intentionally dine there again. Its not hard to add flare to a pizza, they just havent really learned how to do that yet…

Run of the mill pizza and sub shop. Greeted as soon as I stepped to the register, my cheesesteak came out quick. It was OK. Nothing to write home about. The décor is what you’d expect from a sub shop but it was clean. The TV was tuned into an NFL game which was nice to watch while enjoying my sandwich. Maybe I would return.

Had a chance to stop in for lunch during the work week. There were many cold and hot sandwiches to choose from. I opted for the 8inch Steak Parmesan, it was a great tasting sandwich but was hoping for a little more meat then bread. I did not try the pizza but from what I saw it will proably be something I try when I return.

Walked in and was immediately greeted with a smile! Staff was friendly. I ordered the meatball sub and it was delicious. Price is right as well!

We’ve lived in the neighborhood for about 6 months and have driven past Chubby’s almost daily. Today after reading some Unilocal reviews I finally stopped by on the way home to try it out. Since it was late Sunday afternoon it was fairly quiet. The staff were extremely friendly, the inside was small but nice inside with one TV. I ordered the regular steak bomb and took it home.
The steak bomb was the bomb. At first I was hesitant about ordering it since it has salami, but the salami is the key ingredient. Both me and my wife loved it so much that we’ve been back twice past two weeks.
The next time I come, I’m going to order the pizza to see if that’s as good as well.

My wife and I have gone here at least once a week for at least 9 months and have never had a problem. Recently we’ve noticed a change in the portions and and quality of the food in that they’ve declined quite a bit. My wife correlated that one of the employees that always made our food wasn’t there anymore. She asked the kid behind the counter where that guy went and was treated with, what can only be described as outright hostility. Of course my wife told the kid that she wouldn’t be back to which he yelled ‘FINE! GO THEN!’ Only thing I can say is bad employees can ruin your business. It’s a true shame because I like this place for the longest time.

Its ok but delivery is slow pizza and subs arrive cold. Jersey Mikes makes a better Italian. Salads are mostly lettuce. Its fine for kids but not really very flavorful.

I have been there twice and have only gotten their pizza so I cannot comment on their other menu items.
I like to support local small businesses whenever I can. I will say the employees are very friendly and accommodating. The pizza is OK. I’ve had better and I’ve had worse. Next time I’ll try one of their subs.

Steak subs… that’s all I should have to say about this joint! But I guess I need to say more to make this a respectable review. I’ve been coming here for more than a decade and the quality of food and service has remained high.
I always get the steak, cheese and mushroom. Why, you may ask. It’s that freakin’ good! Now, this place has a wide variety of subs, pizza, and other food, but I have yet to try it (I know, this makes me a bad food critic, but I know what I like).
All food is cooked to order, so there is a small wait (10 – 15 mins for a steak sub), but the wait is worth it. The dinning area, though small, is nice. They used to have all the hideous and creepy clown paintings and pics on the wall, but all of that is gone now.
The staff if friendly and helpful. Plenty of drink selections — both fountain and bottles/​cans from the fridge. All in all, an awesome place to get a steak sandwich. Maybe one day I’ll try something new, but probably not!

Ordered the specialty, the steak bomb, it was amazing! Plus I got a Stella and um yeah, tasty beer and steak and cheese is literally the best combo! Great casual atmosphere is really the perfect laid back night.

The single greatest meat sandwich is in this place. I don’t know how anything else they sell is, but I don’t care. It’s all about the STEAK BOMB. The thing is, like, 3 pounds. And it’s delicious. Just writing about it is making my mouth water.
Lots of pictures of clowns on the walls, which is great for keeping hipsters away. Bonus!

Was told 30 minutes for a pizza and I finally called after 1.5 hours. I was told I can come get my pizza or get a refund. The driver had car problems. That’s not a big deal but to never call me and tell me so I can make other arrangements that pissed me off. I ended up getting McDonalds because everything else was closed that was convenient. I don’t plan to order here again due to their lack of customer service.

I love chubbys. I have this weird pizza taste, that most people refuse to share a pizza with me… light on the cheese, and they Always get if right, with basil. Unfortunately when I order delivery it’s usually cold, but I guess I’m on their outskirts. At the shop it’s perfect with an incredible crust and awesome staff.

This time, the pizza was delivered late, and the food was soggy.
The pizza remains meh. This time, I tried the combo sub (sausage and meatballs) with grilled mushrooms and banana peppers. There was a ton of meat, but it was so salty that my lips are burning.
They included two cookies with our order. They tasted like Play-​Doh.
