Cool Breeze Air Conditioning

I’ve used ARS/​Roto Rooter for some years, mostly for plumbing issues. Purchased an $ 8400 a/​c system from them 8 years ago, no complaints there, system still works great. Have always been on their maintenance plan until about 18 – 24 months ago when I couldn’t afford the extra expense due to divorce. Noticed that when set at 74 in heat of day was running longer than normal and the temp was at 76. Called and went back on maintenance plan at the end of May, scheduled maintenance appt for June 5 between 8−12pm. Called at 9am to make sure we were confirmed. Just past noon received a call advising all techs were still on calls and rescheduled for between 1−5pm. At 5:30pm I called and rescheduled for ⁶⁄₁₁ between 8−12pm, but was supposed to be listed as a priority. I had my mom arrive at my house by 8am because I had vet appts, dr appts, etc. received a call from my mom about 11am that no one had arrived yet. Called and was told they had called me and left a message, but I didn’t have a call or vm from them. Was advised they had someone in the area and he would arrive shortly. Tech Bill arrived about 12:30pm. After being in my attic for over an hour and a half told my mom the plenum was off and thats why it wasn’t cooling as it should. I arrived home just after 2pm and he had just exited the attic. Tells me that I have half my ducts disconnected from the plenum. My mom caught this difference. He remained outside for another hour and half to 2 hours, doing nothing from what I saw (aside from talking to his trainee). So over 3 hours after arriving he presents me with an estimate of repairs totally $ 4004 plus the cost of a new circuit board for which no price was available. Stated he couldn’t repair plenum at that time as system would need to remain off to allow to dry for several hours.
Today I called Cool Breeze A/​C and Refrigeration, 813−571−4888, tech Kevin was at my home ahead of schedule, owner John arrived to make sure I was satisfied with service. Kevin stated the plenum was indeed loose, appears the ARS tech attempted to tape the exterior instead of attaching correctly and it had fallen almost completely off. The charge? For about a 30 – 45 minute call with repairs…$ 145. Advised of the prior estimate from ARS, they verified each item listed and advised no additional issues found. My home is now cooling nicely and I’m very satisfied.
