Server was attentive, but not intrusive. Food was delicious, esp. the chips. Hot Bloody Mary had a lot of flavor, but not too too hot! Great meal all the way around!

Not that my review will make a whole lot of difference because I’m clearly with the majority in saying how good the food is. I guess I can best describe it as gourmet southern food. There were 9 of us and not a single diner was disappointed with the food or the service. All I can say is stop reading this and head on to Datz! Yes, it’s datz good! And go hungry!

Wowza! I’m not sure how to put into words how wonderful this place was! I’m in love! And that cold brew though… best I have ever freaking had!

Donut cone is definitely on another level. All the ice cream flavors at Datz Dough are so good! From peanut butter and jelly ice cream to sweet potato ice cream.

I am giving Datz three stars. For food, it’s five stars for sure. Awesome food. Bloody Marys are outstanding too. I give the host and hostess(the people who greet you and advise you on your wait time) a huge zero. They are rude and not accommodating. If they don’t enjoy dealing with John Q Public, then they need to find another occupation. Parking is also a zero. I always have had to park in the neighborhood down the street and walk up to the restaurant. Again, food is outstanding. Servers are good. Host/hostesses lousy. Parking poor.

Datz is great all around, the bar area, the bakery/creamery, and restaurant areas are all great individually. So to see that they are under the same brand is pretty impressive. Normally on the weekends the wait without a call ahead is pretty long, but it is worth it. While we were waiting for our table, we went to the Dough room. They have a nice selection of baked goods and ice creams, as well as coffee/tea. We tried some of the macaroons and they were perfect. Once we were seated, our waitress came around and was awesome. I got the chicken and waffle plate, and really enjoyed it. It was the perfect mix of sweet and spicy. By the way the background music selection is legit :) All in all, I would come back for Datz and Dough :)

Maybe I was just unlucky on the weekend I came? It was my first trip to Datz and Dough for Sunday brunch and I was pretty excited. However I was again left disappointed just like I was at dough. First of all, I asked for iced coffee and instead my server was like try the cold brew. Ok so we did and imagine our sticker shock when our 2 glasses of cold brew coffee was $ 12 that’s more than the price of some of their entrees! And yes while it did give me a jolt of caffeine I needed, I definitely won’t be ordering a regular class of cold brew here any time soon. For our appetizer we had the buffalo cauliflower and we loved it! I would definitely go back and try this agin! The cauliflower was perfectly cooked and the buffalo sauce gave it great flavor. It came out hot and delicious. This was a 5 star appetizer! For our brunch entrée we had the chicken salad sandwich. I specifically told my waiter that I do not eat pork and asked my waiter to substitute it for turkey bacon since they serve it here any way. I was assured this wouldn’t be a problem, so imagine my surprise as I go to bite into my sandwich and there are 2 big pieces of pork bacon in my sandwich. Thankfully, I noticed it before eating it. I get our waiter to come back and asked for a new sandwich. He asks me to just take the pork bacon off and he will get me a side of turkey bacon! Really?! I ordered the turkey bacon for a reason, because I don’t eat pork, so why would I want pork juices on my sandwich?! I had to tell our waiter again that I wanted a new sandwich bc I don’t want to eat the one that had pork in it. It’s not like it was on the side of my plate and I could just remove it it was actually inside my sandwich. He then obliged and I was given a new sandwich. The chicken salad sandwich was okay tasting definitely not the best I have had by far. I would not order this again! On our way out we bought a bottle of their Roux hot sauce that is made for their sister restaurant and I really love it. It has a good kick and nice flavor for hot sauce. For my first Datz experience just like my Dough experience I was left disappointed, especially considering I paid almost $ 50 for brunch. I’m not sure if I just picked the wrong menu items(chicken salad sandwich) or what happened bc so many people had good experiences here. I want to give it another shot bc I truly loved their buffalo cauliflower and overall ambience of the place but the inability to get orders correct and then having to ask multiple times for it to be fixed is concerning. Hopefully my second visit will be better & if it is I’ll update my review then.

Datz was an excellent experience. Nice atmosphere, and we had a great waiter. All of the food for our party of four was excellent. Would recommend to family and friends. The only problem I had was trying to choose what to order from a great menu selection. Everything sounded tasty. Also check out the ice cream and sweets shop next door called«Dough,» that seems to be owned by the same people. They have a donut ice-cream cone. Delicious!

I was introduced to Datz by a good friend from Tampa. The best part was she told me about the restaurant’s delights while I was beginning an intense dieting. I have to give her a big high five because Datz is the most amazing spot for a cheat meal! I went and enjoyed dinner and dessert that made dreams come true. Let me begin with the ambiance of the restaurant. Walking up, there is a fun sign that confirms the reputation of this restaurant’s personality. Inside, I was seated by friendly staff quickly with just enough time to snap a picture of the gorgeous and colorful macaroon case. Our server was fun, energetic, and helpful. She brought over caramel corn to let us nibble on while we waited for round 1. I ordered a cocktail by suggestion and it was light and refreshing. This was a Spaaa Blahblahblah. It was not too sweet or sour and it did not take away from the food to come… Next we ordered the Buffalo Cauliflower dish for our appetizer. This was HUGE! This vegetarian dish did not dissapoint, even a meat eater. This was hearty, filling, and full of tangy buffalo flavor with creamy ranch. Amazing. For thr next(highly anticipated) course, I head read the menu and pre-planned to get the Cheesy Todd burger. It was huge! I was pretty full off everything else when I got it, so I barely made a dent in the massive mac and cheese«buns». The burger was good, I was happy, but I wished I had tried the Vandross doughnut burger. The mac and cheese burger was cool but hard to eat without going all in with a fork. It was an experience and I am glad I got it. There are so many other items I want to try here, though. For dessert, we hit up dough next door. I got the peanut butter and jelly ice cream cone with chocolate sprinkles. That was a lovely finish! I look forward to going back for another cheat meal.

While visiting friends in Tampa I came to Datz and absolutely enjoyed my time here. My God the food was so delicious and feeling that my stomach was happy and upset with me at the same time. 5 stars for sure! I ordered the Cheesy Todd and it was better than I could have ever imagined. The burger was flavorful, juicy and cooked to my specifications. The bun must have been thought up by someone needs to be worshipped for life because it’s made up of bacon– jalapeño mac n’ cheese. I mean can you imagine biting into a burger and the bun is fried mac n’ cheese… well I don’t have to imagine because I experienced it and it was GLORIOUS! I can’t wait to go back to Tampa to sample some of the other items on the menu. I highly recommend you give this place a try if you ever visit Tampa.

First time visiting while in town for the Beyonce concert! We visited Datz for the most amazing brunch! Lis was our waiter and did a great job. I ordered the Ginormous latte(asked for agave as sweeter and she made it happen), and the Datz Good Hash with cheese grits(asked to sample the bacon infused potatoes and she made that happen as well)! LOVEDEVERYTHING! Now off to Doughs next door. :-) I’ll certainly be back on my next Tampa visit!

Ok– first the Reuben Roll blew my socks off! It looked good, but the flavor blew the description all to hell. We got the Cheezy Todd and the Dumb Cluck, both excellent! Our server is exceptionally knowledgeable about the drink service and the food both. He requested feedback on the Old Fashioned and took it to heart on round two. We will be back time and time again!

Datz is a one of the iconic places in Tampa. If you haven’t tried it, you need to go. Next to Datz, there is a bakery called, Dough, next-door, they both are just so amazing. Everything on the menu is fully thought-out and just delicious. All of the staff are so kind, prices are very reasonable and you always walk away with a full belly of great tasting food. I’ve liked everything I’ve tried from Datz. The only thing is that they get really busy on the weekend, so be sure to have a reservation or else you may end up waiting for a bit

Soooo good! We had a Saturday brunch there(45 minute wait, arriving at 10:30 … was up to 1−½ hours by noon) during a thunderstorm last week . We started with the monkey bread, which as other reviews have stated, was a rich and delicious treat. I had the egg sandwich with spinach and brie, with fresh fruit. It was incredible. My fellow diners shared the Kentucky Colonel Bowl, a delicious combination of garlic mashed potatoes, bacon confetti corn, melted jack cheese, chicken gravy and boneless fried chicken breast. They both said it was wonderful. Service was excellent and I can’t wait to return!

Full, rich, big portions Show off to family and friends Do not skip dessert I’ve been unsure of Datz, but really, it’s a model citizen when it comes to Unilocal, but also Tampa. Datz does the best it can to make people happy, make delicious, rich, giant portions. The desserts and coffee are out of this world. The details here are noticeable. You can tell that everything had a lot of thought put into it. I had a bunch of family in town from both sides, and I wanted to impress them without breaking bank, and I decided on Datz… My Aunt asked, «How did you find out about this place?» I replied, «This is the most popular restaurant in Tampa.» I was very worried that getting parking and seated with 10+ people with no reservations over Valentine’s weekend was going to be impossible. I called ahead for a late afternoon lunch, and they said it could be done. Hooray! It was nearly painless. Parking was available, everyone enjoyed waiting and looking at the sweets counter. It didn’t take long before we were seated. The only kind of issue, and I’ve experienced this before at Datz, is waiting for food can be excruciating. Even with the waiter being super nice and attentive, we spent close to 3 hours between waiting to get in, ordering, waiting for food, and waiting for the bill. My family made jokes about this, but weren’t crazy annoyed, because we like hanging out with each other. The food though, everyone was in love. My Aunts and Uncles said it was the perfect place. The portions were huge, we shared monkey bread and cauliflower apps. We got burgers and sandwiches and salads and no one was disappointed. Is it the most amazing food ever? No. But it makes Tampa a better place, and a something to show off to family and friends(if you can get in and stand the wait).

Servicio: never a dull moment, sense of humor, informed on drinks and food, attention for drinks, food, and simply checking in! Atmosphere: nice, upper and lower level(bars and eating areas), kid friendly, cozy w/few open areas Menu: newsletter… darn its hard to choose… cluck and waffles or meatloaf stuffed w/Mac and cheese(the size of a loaf of bread!) No sweet closure to this review… its just a damn good place to return!

2 words: monkey bread!!! Yes, sit down ladies and gentleman and get ready to dig in, just like mom used to make it for you as a child! Beyond this, the café latte was huge and equally delicious. The whole restaurant has a fun, eclectic vibe with the most excellent selection of desserts I’ve ever seen. The only downside is this restaurant is in Florida and I am only here on business/vacation. If only I could clone it in my hometown…

In life, you always have those things that you want to really like but they just let you down too much. For me when it comes to South Tampa restaurants, this is my relationship with Datz. Sure, I know they are a bit of a «Teacher’s Pet» of this website. I know they hosted Unilocal Prom 2016(an event I will never attend against the NFL Playoffs). And I know they do not hurt for business no matter what I think. Still, I come here about once every 18 months because they never give me a reason to come back sooner. Every experience is flawed in some obvious way and they are consistent in their inconsistency based on my multiple visits over the years. Most recently, I came in to pick up a quick takeout lunch for myself and a friend stuck in the office since I had just finished some work around that time down in South Tampa. The weather was crap, the lunch rush had already pushed through and I was even able to find a decent parking spot down the side street south of the restaurant. I slid in the side door and casually asked the bartender for a menu and nothing else. This was a good guy with a damn impressive handlebar mustache he told me he had been sporting since Movember 2014. I was in no major hurry and communicated the order to him after scanning the newspaper-like menu for new items. My order was presented to me in short order, already bagged up and I paid my check, offered thanks and slid back out the side door. When I got back to the office, I experienced that lousy and helpless feeling of opening a box with an inaccurate order. Honestly, I know the dude behind the bar got it right. However, he unfortunately trusted the kitchen did too and that’s why I always appreciate when places show you every item before you leave the building. As a result, lunch for us was a major letdown. And it reinforces why I do not share the same enthusiasm for Datz that many others here do. I’ve given them multiple chances to prove my «Hit or Miss» theory inaccurate yet it keeps coming up the latter despite their reputation. Perhaps I’ll try again in 18 months. Perhaps it is just time to give up entirely.

Half off appetizers before 6? I’m sold. Came here with a friend and we devoured the following: +Cuttlemari & Shishito Peppers +Black Truffle Fries +Chicken Roulette(chicken stuffed with cheese, pancetta, figs, apricot and sausage with brown buttered gnocchi) I thought the cuttlemari(basically calamari) was good, if not super interesting. The truffle fries were amazing. The best part, though, was the entrée, which seemed to be swimming in a maple glaze and I just loved it. I also had a maple Paloma($ 5 as part of happy hour), but it was a little too smoky for my taste. Like a maple campfire, if that’s your thing. Great service and a menu that’s inventive enough for me to want to return!
