I really love this place! The only thing I will ask next time is to be careful with my sandwich or burger bun, when they put the bread on the grill some parts get burned… Instead of that as I already said… This place make very good and unique food.

This place was an awesome experience. The menu changes regularly depending on seasonal foods available — so everything is extremely fresh. The drink selection is great from beers to wines and speciality drinks. The wait staff was phenomenal and even made recommendations based on our likes. The cheese board was nothing short of amazing. We got a Caesar salad and fried green tomato salad. Both were delicious and full of unique and great flavors. The fried green tomato salad was heavenly with a fun crunch, hot and cold and sweet get a touch of salty. Perfect, really. I had the sea scallops which were amazing although had too much extra water at the bottom of the dish. It came with a creamy risotto that was delicious. My boyfriend had the grouper and it was done to perfection. Definitely a great place to go! Can’t wait to see what the menu has next time.

Oh my, oh my, oh my!!! My new favorite food experience. It would be difficult to know where to begin. Every dish is not only an experience but a source of conversation. Excellent service and a sort of casual/hipsterish atmosphere without being cliché’.

One of Tampa’s best restaurants. Extremely creative and perfectly executed menu. The charcuterie board is damn good. Brown butter ice cream… nuff said.

This is my 2nd experience here and I cannot compliment the food enough. Everything was so flavorful and you can really savor every bite. I ordered the Jamaican fried chicken and waffle and it was spectacular. I love how perfectly fluffy and dense the waffles were and the chicken was fried to perfection. Additionally, their cocktails are amazing too. I gave 4 stars because the service was slow and the menu is a little confusing.

Upon arriving we pulled up to the valet and were told in which direction the entrance was and began walking in. Upon entering, we soon realized that we were in the back of the restaurant, so we made our way through the dinning room to the front entrance to see the hostess. This made no sense since the valet had specifically told us to enter here… We were immediately seated, which is always nice(we had a reservation). The menu is somewhat confusing, its given to you on a clip board with double sided printed paper. Only the front/top side of the paper is the actual menu, the back side/opposite side of the paper menu is from a previous day… I’m guessing they do this to save paper, but it was confusing and should have been explained to us. I had the snapper that came with couscous, and the fish was cooked perfectly, as was the couscous but there was a lot of residual watery sauce underneath the fish and couscous. My girlfriend had the chicken and waffle dish which was a hit and by far the better dish. The chicken was crispy yet tender and the waffle was crispy with an amazing mango jam. If it wasn’t for the strange entrance and having been confused upon entering, as well as my excess thin/watery sauce, I would have given 5 stars,

First time at Edison food+drink lab, and I must say thank you Unilocalers. I haven’t been steered wrong yet thanks to you awesome people. First off the menu has so many great choices. #foodieproblems I couldn’t decide for like five minutes. I settled on the ceviche and the New York strip. Both dishes were amazing. My girl Bryttani loved the ceviche even more than I did. She got the cheese board and it was great as well. Her main course was the red snapper and it was amazing. the risotto that came with the snapper was glorious. I think the real star of the entrees was the sauce that was drizzled lovingly around the strip and the snapper. Man I wanted a to go cup filled with the Carmel goodness. I recommend get reservations because people start flowing into this wonderland of food and cocktails as soon as it opens. Life is short, eat and drink well.

Such nice and professional service from all employees, extremely clean and their food and drinks were different but extraordinary! Everything is delicious, you can’t go wrong.

Mixed at best. Having followed local Chef Jeannie Pierola for many years, there are no surprises at Edison. In spite of no formal training, she can produce some very interesting and tasty food. I’m sure the kitchen is well run. However, as is the case with many chef-centric restaurants, good food is the star, the experience is second. Much of the front house is an after-thought. The valet parking is on a side street, with the front door on Kennedy. After parking you walk in the back door and snake past the restrooms and through a cramped dinning room, to find the hostess stand and then back to your table. Poor planning for such a dense room. Party of 2 for $ 160. I expect great service, food, clean restrooms. The men’s room floor was gross, the trash can covered in, «Drips and splashes, rust and TP all over the floor». I’ve seen cleaner restrooms at gas stations. Gross and makes you wonder about the kitchen. The service was sub-par for the price. Be prepared for high decibel dinning and being part of your neighbors conversations. Vastly disappointing Old Fashioned, $ 12, nothing special for a «Food+Drink Lab» Twist of irony, entertainment this evening was two large televisions with food network Guy Fieri from food network, jamming his pie hole. The bone marrow appetizer was sad. There was VERY little actual bone marrow, and a whole lot of a parmesan crumb topping. Steak Tartre had prefect seasoning, the gristle was unwelcome. The grouper was served in a bowl and more like soup. The flavors and menu is 100% Jeannie Pierola. James Beard went to her former employer where the front of the house matters as much as the food.

My new favorite restaurant in Tampa. I’m not sure where to start. Everything from the service, atmosphere, and food gets a complete 5 star rating from me. My server was extremely friendly and efficient. He explained the menu very well. The restaurant was busy but it wasn’t too loud. Although it’s a bit pricey, I wouldn’t call it pretentious at all. I’ll admit, for the menu descriptions, I didn’t know half of the ingredients mentioned. But I took a chance and ordered proteins that I was craving at the time. I was not disappointed at all. The food was amazing. I have never tasted anything that hit me with 3+ different flavors consecutively in just a single bite!!! We were feeling adventurous and tried the bone marrow. The deliciousness blew our minds so much that we just sat there in silence… Completely speechless. Bone marrow sounds a bit gross but honestly, it’s one of the best things I have ever tasted! When I come back to Edison, ordering bone marrow is officially mandatory for me. I normally hate eating onions by itself. But the onion marmalade-type of topping on the bone marrow was so amazingly flavorful I ate it by itself. Their wagyu steak was also amazing. I loved it more than the steaks at Ruth Chris steakhouse. Scallops were cooked to perfection. My scallops came with barley, which is something I normally dislike. But I decided to take a chance since I was craving scallops. Their barley was delicious. It was seasoned so well and to my surprise, I ate it all! Their taro rice pudding was delicious! The little coconut jelly cubes to the taro chips and coconut milk made this different textured dessert so refreshing and delicious! Just from my one dining experience here, we could tell that their dishes and drinks were carefully created. Nothing was thrown into a drink or entrée just for the sake of it. Just by tasting a single bite or sip and tasting different flavors one after the other in every dish… How did they do that?! Amazing. I will definitely be coming back since their menu changes. Don’t get intimidated by the menu descriptions! Not being familiar with all of the ingredients won’t matter at all if it tastes amazing!

This is one of my favorite local spots and my husband and I frequently dine here. Edison is a great restaurant for people who love and appreciate food. We love the ever changing menu as well as the menus staples. The burratta is definitely one of our favorites. Besides that, we usually try something different every time we visit. Edison offers more sophisticated flavor profiles then I’ve found at other Tampa establishments. I find the meals interesting and very enjoyable. The atmosphere can be a bit too loud when the house is full. They are also known for there cocktails which are good but I personally don’t recommend with dinner because I find that they ruin my palate. I prefer to stick with wine while I am enjoying my meal and perhaps a cocktail afterwards.

Food lab is located on Edison road and Kennedy. Parking was pretty bad since I was there for the lunch hour. Atmosphere was pretty cozy until the lunch crowd got in, then it got pretty loud. Music was at a good level and was enjoyable. Food was delicious! I had the pork belly and hoe cake appetizer. Entrée was the scallops. The scallops was just 3 pieces so that was disappointing. It was outstanding tho. I would definitely recommend visiting.

Let me start out by saying that if you haven’t been here… you haven’t lived. I’ve lived in Tampa for 8 months and always wanted to try this place and I’m so glad that I did. Eating here is an experience. Unfortunately I came alone so my visual stimulation was limited by my stomach’s capacity. I got the Swamp Buggy cocktail which had bourbon, but wasn’t too strong because of the coconut water and other ingredients. Is was refreshing and not too sweet, I’d certainly order it again. The food was what really made my experience. I went with all appetizers so I could try as much as possible. I started with the potato crusted oysters with a dill pickle nectar which you’re supposed to drizzle on top. The presentation was great and the taste of the hot oyster w the crunchy texture and spicy relish provided a rollercoaster of flavors that I didn’t want to end. The next, and most amazing, dish on the menu was the avocado leaf seared yellowfin tuna. YOUHAVETOGETTHIS! The tuna is great, but comes alive when you eat it with the bahn mi inspired green mango salad mixed w a mango sorbet infused w spicy chilies. OMG, this was so good! The final dish was a Gazpacho. It was not one of the top suggestion from the waitress, but I got it because of prior Unilocal reviews. The gazpacho w green curry oil was great, but the apple toppings reminded me of the pulp that’s left after juicing and brought down the overall quality of the dish. That or the other things were so amazing that this dish seemed average(I’m sure my reviews would have been different if the other dishes didn’t set the bar so high). Overall I was very impressed w this place. It is pricy, but I think that the flavors and experience are well worth the price. Enjoy!

We save this restaurant for special occasions because it’s so pricey, but this most recent visit started off terribly. Getting there about 15 minutes before our reservation because we intended to have a drink at the bar, we checked in but were told our table wasn’t ready yet. Okay, those ten or so empty tables and booths aren’t ready yet, fine. We bellied up to the bar, and asked for a cocktail menu. The woman who was pouring our glasses of water said, «Can I finish what I’m doing first?» Why sure — even though I’d much prefer a cocktail to the water, thanks. She then had to pour water for the next couple that walked up to the bar, then go to the hostess stand, grab a menu clipboard, fold over the pages to get to the cocktail part, and was FINALLY able to hand it to us. So much time went by, in fact, that the hostess came up to us and told us our table was now ready. We followed the hostess to the worst table in the restaurant, next to both the bathrooms, and the waitstaff’s prep station. We said, no thanks, and asked for a booth. She had to go ask the main hostess, who came to us and explained that all of the five empty booths had been ‘requested’ already by people with reservations, and that they saved them for parties of four(even though 6 of the 7 currently occupied booths were parties of 2-and one was sat with 2 people while we watched). It was an extremely unpleasant conversation, with us just standing there, until finally she pointed at another table and was like — you can have that table. Throughout the night, the hostess led people to the bathroom table, only to have to lead them elsewhere moments later. Management take note — people don’t want to sit there! Things improved once our server finally arrived, even though it took a good 5 – 10 minutes for her to stop by. Long enough for us to have a conversation upon where we should go eat instead of Edison. She gave us recommendations upon request, and we were finally able to get a cocktail after being inside the restaurant for half an hour. The food was delicious; potato crusted oysters are a must-have, the Seafood Bourride had plenty of seafood, though I was wish it was served hotter, and the buttercake for dessert was delicious with an amazing crispy sugar crust. Cocktails were interesting, unique, and tasty. I understand it was a busy holiday weekend, but at this point, Edison has been open for a few years, which is long enough to have their act together and handle busy holiday weekends. And so, even though the food and cocktails were delicious, the first part of the evening left such a bad taste in my mouth, I have no desire to ever return.

What a fun dining experience! My girlfriends and I do a girls night out once a month and this month we drove from Orlando to give this place a try. Parking looks like it could be a little difficult, however, they do offer valet for $ 3. Lucky for us, we were able to find street parking very close by. Upon entering, the restaurant is small and has a very intimate feel. Since our group was initially supposed to be large, we we seating in there private dining room. It was perfect for us because it was less crowded and one of my friends got to watch one of the playoff games without interruptions as the room had a flat screen on one of their walls. Our server was awesome. Very friendly, knowledgable, and attentive to all of our needs. We started with drinks. I ordered the berry smash cocktail. Yum! So tasty, not too strong, and full of flavor! The Yoga Pants was a favorite amongst my friends as well. It was also tasty and served in a cute little bottle. Perfect for warming you up on a cool Florida night. We ordered the cheese plate to start. It was perfect for sharing. The cheeses, nuts, fruit and honey were perfect and all complemented each other well. I went with the buffalo cauliflower. It was very impressive. Hot, tangy, buffalo goodness covered the huge pieces of cauliflower. The portion size was huge. I shared with the table and still ended up with leftovers. A friend and I decided to be adventurous and order the roasted bone marrow. Now I’m not gonna lie, I was kind of nervous about trying it, but went for it anyway! Oh my, the marrow was so buttery and spread nicely on the toast that accompanied it. Topped with the onion jam that accompanied it, I was in heaven. The plate also included three quail eggs, but I was not brace enough to try(don’t judge lol). The potato crusted oysters we such a hit at our table, that one of my friends ordered it not only as her appetizer, but as her entrée as well. So, I’m not sure why I ordered an entrée at this point because I was full and completely satisfied. I went with the short rib Sancoho. Wow did it impress! So full of flavor, a nice mix of vegetables, and a short rib that was oh so tender. It was a stew busting with so many great flavors. I was only able to eat a few bites, so I took the rest to go. It was just what I needed to keep me warm the next day. Overall, it was such a great time and meal. I would definitely go back. The menu is very eclectic and innovative. A must try for sure!

Why did it take me so long to try this place?! This is truly a foodie experience and one that shouldn’t be overlooked. We shared a bottle of Pinot noir(well priced) And the charcuterie platter which was one of the best in town. For dinner, we couldn’t decide so we all got something different. The filet was flavorful, my bouillon type dish was spectacular and the black grouper was so divine. I couldn’t pick a favorite. For dessert, you MUST order the smores!!! Oh my! I am still drooling over this concoction. The chocolate mousse was out of this world. This truly is one of the best dinner options in town. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Mad scientist or creative chef. Do you have to decide the final outcome for the food lab. It is actually experiment food? Mmmm. Let see the dinner out come. We have our company holiday dinner there with design menu. It is not cheap but very worth for the trip. Our request menu is a four course night with starting the cold appetizers at the first plate. My wife have the almond coconut gazpacho — it is coconut rock shrimp with Fuji Apple salpicon in green curry oil. This a cold soup. The rock shrimp is nice and creative in the soup. The soup base is not normal gazpacho and is white. It is good. I have the avocado leaf seated yellow fin tuna. This is the best of the cold app. It come green mango salad, aji amarillo sorbet, fish sauce caramel and tamarind peanut crunch. It creative that the sorbet replace the wasabi and the fish sauce caramel replace the balsamic reduction sauce. Now you know why they call themselves food lab. The second course are the hot appetizers. I have smoked maple glazed pork belly. It top with hoe cake, black eyed peas, green tomato chow-chow. Usually I don’t care about hoe cake but sauce and other ingredients combine, it is great. The pork belly is cook perfectly. If you are not good chef, do not try this dish because it need three part meat harmony. My wife has Serrano ham zeppole. The slice hams were place on top of rosemary doughnuts with compressed melon, Saba and Parmesan snow. Interesting dish. The rosemary was deep fried to crispy with seasoning. I have not have it this way before. Our third course are the main dishes. I have the red snapper a la plancha. It is fillets snapper with sautéed and glazed on top on avocado coconut grits, baby spinach, mergers marmalade, avocado chutney and mango harissa purée. This best main dish tonight the purée go very well with the fish. My wife has the painted hills short rib ‘sancocho’. Usually the Caribbean sancocho is a mix of meat and veggies soup. This is an overhaul design for the short rib with boniato, yuca, sweet potato, and sweet corn, green plantain, avocado toss watercress, and cilantro sweet garlic juice. I only can said — it is good. The final course is the sugar crusted butter cake or chocolate peanut butter bar. Both of them is great. I the butter cake because the cake form the caramelized sugar crust on all expose wall. The cake is syrup and is good. The only thing is the food take a bit time to come out for the first dish. The rest are good. The service is great. The drink you have to refer to the pic since we don’t know what they have created.

We had an amazing time for a friends birthday and ordered WAY too much food. Service was awesome. Bar tender suggested the cauliflower app, but we went for the steak tartare with bone marrow. It was a great fusion of flavors and textures. I had the steak(fantastic) and some others in my group had the scallop entrée(complete with visually stimulating soap suds?). All in all I WAS expecting a little more Lab/Science feel to the food or the establishment(a little disappointed), but a great experience with amazing food. I WILLBEBACK!

This has to be the most inventive and fun food in all of Tampa Bay and likely the entire state of Florida. Where else can you get amazing dishes that include, in no particular order and definitely not all served together… house made pistachio meringue asiago snow brown butter ice cream rosemary donuts blood orange pink peppercorn sauce ? I will tell you where else… No where! I was thinking as the professional and friendly waiter described the ingredients, of course the pistachio meringue is house made! I mean, they don’t sell this incredible ingredient at Publix!
