I tutor students who live in Cory Lakes and sometimes leave by the back gate that puts you on Morris Bridge Road. Today, I stopped at the Shell Station on the corner of MBR and Cross Creek and happen to find Kennedy Barbecue. They roll with a huge smoker and some oak logs and make some of the best fall-off-the-bone ribs you’ll ever eat. Terrific sauce – not too sweet and not too tangy – and owners who are right there. They were gracious enough to offer me a sample rib. Platters reasonably priced at $ 8 include a four meaty ribs, and two sides and of course two slices of white bread to wipe up the sauce with… and you will be wiping up the sauce ’cause it’s that good. The business is owned by a father and son. They invited me to call an order ahead anytime. They are hard to see from the road because they are tucked in behind the Shell station. Follow the signs and the sweet smell of good ribs smokin’. Their hours are Thursday to Saturday 11 – 6 and Sunday 11 – 4. Kennedy Barbecue is going to be a regular stop for me when I am tutoring English in Cory Lakes. Note: Kennedy’s is now the country club restaurant at the gated place on the opposite side of the road from Cory Lakes. Long ride to get back to the clubhouse and feels a little weird eating BBQ that should come off a truck in the CC restaurant. Hope it works for them. I sure miss them being on their old corner near the Shell. ;-(
