If there were no stars that’s where this review would go. Went on a Holiday so gave many opportunities before walking out. Service was the worst ever had in my LIFE, waited 3 hours for food and appetizers came with the food. Waiter refused to stop the apps after they never came or even refill our drinks. When told what horrible service waiter was hostile. The food was not great! Place was hot! And not to mention no kids meals. Top dollar for dog food.

The food was excellent and authentic. The service was nice and polite but very slow. We waited one hour to get our dinner.

Extremely expensive place. NOTWORTHIT. Mofongo delicious and the bistec empanizado, were the two things were tasty. We had a party of 6 and no one wants to return. Garlic BREAD regular size nothing special. 5 pieces $ 5.00 Cup of white rice$ 4. Cup of red beans $ 4.(Not good tasted mostly of cilantro) Poor service and manager not friendly. Will not return!

The main dish was delicious but the alcapurrias I ordered as an appetizer were not fully cooked. The service was too slow.

Do you like Puerto Rican food? Do you want a mouth orgasm? Then visit this place. Food is authentic from Puerto Rico. Stuffed mofongo is delicious. If you have never tried this, this is the place to start. It is basically fried plantains, then put in a «pilon» and mashed together. Then you can fill it with whatever you want, chicken, steak, and fish. Service is a little poor here but that’s ok for the superb food you get. It does get a little chilly since they have the ac pretty cool. Also give the paella a try another authentic plate that needs to be in your life.

PUerto Rican food. Enough said. This place is authentic and I know since most of my PR fiends and neighbors swear by the place. First tip. Bring a jacket or outerwear, they have the AC cranked up. I had to start off with a delicious café con leche to get me warm. Also this is not for the faint of heart as the portion sides are definitely humongous. The Mofongo is a must try. I had the Bisteca topped Mofongo and my teammate tried the Pollo. Both incredible. I previously had the Arroz con pollo. All great stuff. Also don’t forget to ask for the homemade Hot Sauce. Extra tip. You can buy a bottle to take home. Just don’t ask for the recipe.

This place treats you like a criminal. Power went down and they collected our credit card and ids. Then they came back to tell us cash only and once they get the cash they will give it back to us. They told me too many criminals have scammed them so the honest people will be treated as such. I was able to get our ids and cards back but they wanted to keep one of our friends until we get back with cash which I did not allow. We came back and paid the bill. Do not recommend this place.

Just happened to drive past this restaurant & decided to stop. What a pleasure! We were warmly greeted & the service was excellent. This was the first time anyone in our party had eaten Puerto Rican food. Everything was flavorful & fresh; not spicy. My son said his steak with chimichurri sauce was the best steak he has ever had. Another plus is this is a family owned restaurant. I highly recommend it!

Well this just keeps getting better. After all this ordeal the restaurant went ahead and charged my credit card anyway, so they took my cash and still charged for the dinner on my credit card and got paid twice. Disputing the charge. Horrendous, dishonest behavior.

Mofongo too greasy, full of sauce(too much), service not great, waiter demanded to write down my license number on a piece of paper and credit card upon payment I told them i don’t feel comfortable with this practice and he said that’s their policy, I ended up paying cash, won’t go back

Mofongo was awesome. It was garlicky and very good. I felt like I was in Puerto Rico. The staff was friendly and helpful. Its a small place but they make you feel like you are family. Wife is Puerto Rican and she agrees La Casona is worth the trip. We visit as many PR restaurants while we travel and this was one of the best in Tampa.

Just left this place… And wow! It was amazing! My boyfriend is Puerto Rican and has been dying to bring me here for well over a year. He did agree with some of the reviews that said the service was not great but he had not been here in a long time. Well they clearly have been working on their service. The place was very busy but we were sat very quickly. Now… I did time things because of what the reviews said. I wanted to see how long everything took. We were greeted at our table with 2 minutes and the server said she would be right back to get our drink order. She came back within a minute or so and we ordered our drinks as well as food, since we already knew we wanted mofongo. Our drinks were at the table in less than 5 minutes followed by our food in under 20 minutes. The presentation was nice and my boyfriend said they even changed their plates to something much more appealing from when he was there last. Some of you may be thinking that we must have just had a good server or got lucky on this particular night but you’re wrong. We watched the other tables and their service was just as good. Food was out quickly and servers were all over the place making sure the tables were happy. The owner walked around and checked on things and my boyfriend said there was a new lady there that seemed like the manager. He agrees they have definitely stepped up their game. We were in and out within 1 hour. Some reviews mentioned that they served tap water and this was true but it did not taste bad. They do also have bottled water on their menu now. The sangria was quite tasty! Now time to talk about the famous mofongo… It was the best I’ve ever had! I’ve been to many Latin restaurants and to Puerto Rico a few times. This was by far the best mofongo! My boyfriends is a close second, seriously! :) we also ordered tostones because I love them and these we very good as well. I prefer my a little more crispy but they were delicious and the dipping sauce was to die for! Just the right amount of seasonings and fresh cilantro. I highly encourage people who have had bad service here before, to try it again. I think they have been working on this. They even have iPads to take your order now. I guess they did not used to have these. The restaurant was very clean and I liked the décor. I can’t wait to go back and try the soup! I heard that is pretty good as well. 5 stars for sure!

We started off with the alcapurrias and ahrip de Casona was excellent. My husband and his uncle had a mofongo de camarones they said it was the best they ever had. My son had a shrip in garlic sauce and I had the chxn in garlic sauce simply amazing. The toatones were fresh everything was truly out of this world. This place is one of those places when in florida you have to come to visit. 15 Stars we will be back soon!

This place is a hidden gem of deliciousness! Went there with my family and was amazed by the whole experience. The service was prompt, friendly and very attentive. The ambiance was magical, spanish music played in the background and the decorations all around the restaurant were awesome. The food was simply amazing! I hate that it took me this long to discover the magic and wonder of Mofongo! Truly unreal how much flavor was in every bite. Would defintley reccomend to anyone!

Can’t say enough how DELICIOUS this place was. We were on a business trip and then a family vacation & absolutely did not want anything we could get here in California. We wanted Caribbean food!!! Well, La Casona delivered. The wait time for the food was a bit longer than usually but it is worth it. The food was fresh. I’ve only tried Mofongo a few times but this was hands down the best. Even my one-year old loved it! She was loving the alcapurrias also. Will definitely be back when we are in the Tampa area for more of this place! This is a MUST if you want good, genuine Caribbean good.

This restaurant is recommended by my client. He grew up from Puerto Rico and he has indicated the food is close to his mom cooking. The Spanish music play in the background with lively atmosphere. This the first time I try Puerto Rican restaurant in USA. I have Puerto Rico cuisine at Puerto Rico before. I can said the restaurant at La Casona has interesting Puerto Rican menu. It include traditional Mofongo. Mofongo is a fried plantain-based dish from Puerto Rico. It is typically made with fried green plantains mashed together in a with broth, garlic, bit fried pork belly. It can be filled with vegetable, meat or seafood. This restaurant open since 1999. It have Spanish base customer. Today we have the seafood Mofongo and churrasco. The seafood Mofongo came with half of the lobster tail, shrimp, salty fish, muscle. I was impress of my Mofongo serve with a bit wine base seafood broth. When you bite the olive they have cook with it, the wine juice came out and it is tasty and left wine fragrant in the mouth. This normally different than the Wikipedia description to prepare it. The broth base mix with the fried green plantain neutralize the salty of the broth. The two materials balance each other is the beauty of cooking. Good chef skill. The churrasco is ok. It can be better. Churrasco is Argentina food. Most of the time the Cuban restaurant prepare this dish better than anyone in Miami. You have choice with rice and bean or salad and sweet plantain. The service is good and friendly. However, the close out and bring the check is slow. This restaurant customer tender to speak louder due the natural of the Spanish customer. Food is good portion. Most of time you will have enough to take home for the remained meal.
