Let me start by saying that the pizza did not disappoint. Quality toppings and sauce. Delicious, seasoned crust. The service left a lot to be desired. I’m not sure where the breakdown is happening but we waited for close to an hour for our pizza and nobody came to our table to tell us what the hold up was. It’s frustrating to watch other customers come in AFTER you’ve already been waiting and get served their pizza before you. I suspect something went wrong with our order in the kitchen but I would have have been happy if I’d been kept in the loop. Employees weren’t really on top of the customer service game but were nice when I asked about our order. Nobody was mean and that goes a long way with me. I’ll definitely be back because the pizza really is as good as the other reviewers say. The vibe is laid back and leans on the hipster side without being too cool for a mom and her teenage kids to hang out. I just hope they’ve stepped up their customer service on my next visit.

Lee’s Grocery might be my favorite pizza place in Seminole Heights. Delicious herbed crust, fresh toppings, and a solid beer selection all come together for an excellent pizza night experience. They have both a draft beer selection and single bottles at your disposal. The Minor Threat pizza is my personal favorite and I would recommend it to anyone going to Lee’s. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good pizza experience and I will definitely be returning in the future!

The pizza is absolutely delicious! Just thin enough crust with wholesome ingredients… depending on what you like. they have it all. I got the pep and cheese and it was perfect. Also a great spot for beer if you like to have some suds with your pie! Definitely a hidden gem! We’ll be back!

Great atmosphere, delicious pizza fun atmosphere. Sat outside tonight with the doggie and she loved it too. It was surprisingly so peaceful outside and very pleasant. Staff always super nice and helpful; even remembered which draft I like when I forget!

Small, quaint, bungalow-like establishment. Good parking and outside eating options available. Dark, but decorative walls. Slow service, but the wide array of craft beers(priced well) allows you to not mind the casual service. Pizza and wings… delicious! Tons of desired toppings to choose from with a crust that serves as a part 2 to each slice. This place is like a hidden gem.

I would give 4 ½ stars if I could. Great homemade pizza with fresh ingredients. Not sure if they make their own dough but it sure taste like it. Better than Cappy’s!!!

Like many people I just recently discovered Lees. I’ve been missing out for years on some great pizza and beer to go with it. The place it’s just cool inside, I like how it is in the middle of a residential area and not in some plaza. The crust is the best I’ve had, the ingredients are just fresh. The one thing I don’t get is why they don’t bring some vegan cheese already, just buy a bag and toss it in the freezer. Still giving them 5 stars ’cause the pizza, staff, and location. It’s like Cheers of pizza joints.

Yum!!! What a hidden gem! I never would have known about this place without Unilocal.Fantastic pizza, great craft beer selection, and good music. We had the«Bring the Noise». Very tasty. Nice crisp crust, loaded with meats and veggies. They gave draft and bottle beer as well as wine. There an outside courtyard to eat in too or hang inside in the a/c. Cappys is still my fav but I’ll be back here often. Definitely faster than Cappys.

This is my new Tampa fave! Super cute old building in a great neighborhood(Tampa Heights). The chicken wings were really tasty, I usually like hot wings but the medium had a better taste at Lee’s. Excellent no frills pizza.

How is it even possible that I have lived in Seminole Heights for almost 4 years and have just now discovered Lee’s? Well, anyway, I’m glad I did. Lee’s is my new favorite pizza spot in Tampa. We stopped in this past weekend and I was really impressed. This is a smaller space, so I would not recommend coming in with a large group. We arrived and sat at the bar and ordered some drinks(craft beer and wine served). After a group got up, we chose a table that would accommodate our group of 5. The server is actually the bartender(told ya it is small). We ordered 2 orders of grilled hot wings and 2 large pizzas. The grilled wings were absolutely delicious. Fall off the bone and the perfect amount of spice. The pizzas were outstanding, as well. We got the minor threat and bring the noise. The minor threat was SO good. I loved the jalapenos and pesto sauce, but I loved the bring the noise too! This is going to be my new spot. For a low key atmosphere with GREAT food and craft beer galore, you can’t beat what Lee’s has t

This should be a 5-star review, however, the guys behind the bar(who I hesitate to call«bartenders» or «servers» because they don’t seem there to do either) are lost causes. So if you come in and sit down and no one even talks to you for 10 – 15 minutes despite the fact that they’re standing right in front of you pouring beers or washing glasses, persevere! Flag them down! Call out! Wave your hand! The pizza(and beer) are worth it. There is seating for about 30 people inside(maybe 6 tables plus stools at the bar), and there’s a courtyard outside too. If you have a group of 10, please don’t come here. The kitchen is small, and you’ll take up, very literally, ALL of the chairs. If you do decide you simply must come here with a larger group, have the decency to get only one check… for the sake of the other customers. I love the selection of beer here. There are 7 tap handles so there’s pretty much always 6 – 7 draft beers to choose from. They’re all microbrews or eurobrews. The offerings are balanced. It’s not going to be «4 IPAs, plus 3 others»…look forward to a stout, a porter, a pilsner, a hefeweizen, an IPA, and maybe even something barrel-aged or a sour. BUTWAIT… THERE’S MORE! The entire back wall and about half of another wall are lined with beer in bottles and cans. Again, all craft and euro. Many hard to find. 80% or more are cold and ready for you to drink with your pizza or carry home to drink. Not a beer drinker? Well, there’s craft soda and juices for you. There are games for the kids(or adults) to play. There’s a community bulletin board. There’s a stream of neighborhood people passing by(this is Tampa Heights, so anything goes). The pizza is FANTASTIC! This is my favorite pizza in Tampa, hands-down. The crust is chewy and the perfect thickness, lightly sprinkled with Italian herbs, lightly bubbled and not soggy. The sauce is bright and fresh-tasting. Toppings are evenly spread and there are plenty to choose from. The cheese is gooey and strings nicely. My go-to is: meatballs, fresh basil, spinach, and ricotta. MMMmmmm! It’s tastes like a lasagna pizza. My boyfriend gets sausage and pepperoni… he’s a traditionalist. The entire menu is pizza or baked wings. If you have a limited diet for whatever reason(vegan, celiac, dairy allergy), this may not be your cup of tea. There is a record player but the needle has been broken for the entire time I’ve lived in Tampa. The flatscreen TV sits on top of the record player. I’m a sad panda.

When I heard the name«Lee’s Grocery,» I was a bit skeptical. Then, when we reached our destination, I was worried about the neighborhood. But, wow… Lee’s Grocery is a delightful hidden gem in the Seminole Heights area! Sorry Brett… I like using the clichés! Do not let any of your preconceived notions deceive you. Lee’s Grocery is not a grocery store, but indeed a full-fledged stone-baked pizza joint with a HUGE selection of beer. The restaurant is clean with a spacious back patio. Oh, and did I mention that there is a lot of beer here? Like most places in Seminole Heights, Lee’s Grocery bleeds the hipster vibe. I like it. But, what I love the most about this place is, the décor. There are albums and posters of various 80s bands that are near and dear to my heart, scattered throughout the restaurant. We ordered the wings and the«Bring the Noise» pizza which was chock-full of toppings. Both the wings and pizza tasted very good. And as for the beer, we started out with one of the ciders and ended up taking bottles of the Rekorderling Berry Cider and the St. Louis Framboise home. Jamie was the bartender tonight and was very friendly and efficient. I will definitely come back and can’t wait to take my foodie friends here to experience this hidden gem.

Are you interested in the smell of wonderful pizza and a great selection of craft beer? Then let me welcome you to Lee’s Grocery. Randomly stopped in here for a beer one night and was so glad I did. While I didn’t eat the pizza, it smelled phenomenal. It’s a tiny place, so you may be accused of having an affair with a pizza based on how you smell when you leave. Great beer selection to have in house and take home as well. Small draft list and extensive bottle/can list. Looks like a great spot to pick up pizza and beer at the same time. The place has a cool, hipster vibe to it. It was empty when I visited too so I think this has that hidden gem status still. Recommend stopping by and giving this one a shot.

Why 4 stars? Because this place is hidden and gem-like. — — — I hate cliches like hidden gem, so I went with that instead. Judge away. I found out about this one from our lost ex-TB elite, Josh H. He said they have an awesome beer selection and great pizza. What else did I need to hear? While driving to Lee’s, I realized I had never been in this area of town before, despite living very close by. Definitely shocking to see a bar/restaurant here. And even more shocking to see the vast beer selection that they had. I will definitely be back. I didn’t LOVE the pizza, and felt the sauce had a bit of a weird flavor, but I didn’t hate it either. Next time, I’ll try the wings.

«And suddenly, like light in darkness, the real truth broke upon me; the simple fact of Man, which I had forgotten, which had lain deep buried and out of sight; the idea of community, of unity.» –Ernst Toller Stumbling out of the shadows of the dollhouses and M & M porches that litter Frances Avenue is Lee’s Grocery. Located on the corner of Frances and Central in the Heights of Tampa, Lee’s serves craft beer, gourmet coffee, salads and stone baked pizza. The first thing I noticed when entering was the wall decorum of old vinyl record covers and band posters. It was strange to see the likes of the Dead Kennedys and the Smiths becoming wallflowers with REM, Rick James, Ice Cube and Iron Maiden. It reminded me of another Tampa Pizza establishment, Cappy’s, who write their menu on the back of LP jackets. Lee’s crust was very doughy. I loved it but the New Yorker in our group called foul. «(Unnamed Local Pizza Place) is better.» For the rest of us it was good enough to put in a full order. With specialty pies like Deadman’s Party(pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, bacon and ham), Hanging Garden(spinach, green pepper, onion, black olives, artichokes, tomato and mushrooms), Minor Threat(pesto, mushrooms, spinach, jalapenos and feta) and Don’t Stand so Close to Me(olive oil, garlic, onions, black olives, artichokes, mushrooms, ricotta and mozzarella) and 19 build your own toppings, there was no shortage of choices. J-Fur decided that she wanted the Don’t Stand So Close to Me minus the ricotta. Lee’s had no problem with the substitution and they said that it would be out in 25 minutes. When our pie arrived we were all eager to give it a try. The New Yorker liked the crust on that pie much better as it wasn’t as doughy. I was pretty impressed by the pie. The dough met the strict standards I have(doughy, not too much, and not crispy). I loved the aftertaste that the olive oil sauce provided. Even when I reached the end of the slice, where the toppings melt away and only the crust remains, the taste of olive oil lingered. This meant that dipping sauces and some of the other gimmicks that corporate pizza places offer were unnecessary. The feelings from the rest of the group ranged from«the pizza was great, better than(Unnamed Local Pizza Shop)» to «a pleasant surprise.» Not one bad word was said about the pizza. It blew my mind that Lee’s Grocery, a place I assumed was more about the craft beers, actually had pizza that is comparable in taste and quality to other strictly pizza joints in the area. I could definitely see returning to this place and eating again.
