Yum. Love Mr. Penguin. A lot of people are not familiar with the term«gelati, but it is just a combo of ice cream and Italian ice. My favorite combo is vanilla ice cream with cookies n cream Italian ice. They are beyond reasonably priced(around $ 3 – 4 for a medium). Highly recommend!

Mr. Penguin is amazing. My favorites are the peanut butter, cookie butter, and salted caramel Italian ice with swirl custard. This location is convenient and less busy than the original, but when we went on a Saturday night there was only one employee so the line moved pretty slowly. SO tasty!

Absolutely delicious! Will definitely be coming back. It’s a must try. I had mango and strawberry Italian ice and my friend got coconut and green tea. All were yummy!

Wow! I guess this used to be a boba place, and now to much delight it’s turned into Mr. Penguin. This is my new favorite place to relax, and get an ice cold treat to beat the harsh summer weather in Florida. They feature many different flavors of shaved ice from Mango, to Leche… they even have cookie butter shaved ice. Who would’ve thought?! But wait… there’s more! They also offer soft serve and they feature a unique option called gelati-which combines sweet swirls of soft serve and shaved ice together in harmonious matrimony. I highly recommend the gelati with any of their fruit flavors and vanilla ice cream. Mind-blowing! The sizes here are pretty generous too, so word of warning-don’t let your eyes get bigger than your stomach. Especially if you are coming here for an after lunch/dinner treat. This is a great way to beat the heat, and enjoy a local treat! Enjoy!

I was really excited to try Mr. Penguin because I heard so many great things about it. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. The Italian ice had an extremely unpleasant after taste. I sampled multiple flavors and they all had the same disappointing after taste. I’m guessing it had something to do with the artificial sweetener used.

Yum! I love ordering gelati here, which is basically half italian ice and half frozen yogurt. It sounds like such a weird combination, but it actually works! They have a plethora of flavors, and they all surprisingly taste like what they’re supposed to taste like. I had tried multiple flavors(free samples!), and it was really hard to choose just one. My favorites are strawberry, cookie butter(yesssss!), and green tea. Even though I typically order the smallest size, this location(or at least the staff member when I went) is super generous with portions, so get ready to eat a bunch of frozen yogurt. :)

Great Italian Ice flavor variety. The soft serve is very thick and rich, one of the best I’ve ever had and the gelati is and incredible mixture of the two. Would recommend to anyone with or without children looking for a frozen treat! Staff is also very friendly and helpful.

Man this place is excellent. Best Italian ices I have found and very good gelati(soft serve + Italian ice). I like how you can mix up to 2 soft serve flavors and 3 Italian ices. Inexpensive and great customer service.

Good soft serve and Italian ice shop. You can swirl combinations of one or two Italian ice flavors with vanilla, chocolate or «swirl» soft serve. Very tasty. Jeremiahs is the competition. This is the spin off. location from the original on Platt. Shopping plaza location doesn’t insoire me but comfortabke with tables inside and out.

I really like this location over the Platt one. For one, you get to order indoors. Also, the eating area is more pleasant. And you are actually in walking distance of other places to eat lunch or dinner before your gelati. So far, my favorite flavor combination is mango and strawberry ices with vanilla soft serve. So good and refreshing, even when it isn’t boiling hot outside.

As a lover of Yogurtology, I was skeptical and almost offended when they opened up across the street — there’s no way they could compete! There’s no way I would ever choose Italian ice, or «gelati,» over my great love. But then I did. It’s surprisingly really, really good, once you get past the initial confusion. I’ll break it down for you: 1. Choose an Italian ice flavor. There’s a million to choose from. I liked the peanut butter, strawberry, and salted caramel. Yum! 2. Choose a complementing soft-serve flavor to mix with it. You’re limited to three: chocolate, vanilla, or swirl. 3. BOOM. That’s what they call Gelati.

Same great taste, same great service. Stopped into Mr Penguin’s nice new digs off Dale Mabry after having lunch next door. What’s better than a cool gelati on a hot day? A cool gelati that is FREE because it’s their grand opening. Winning! Nice way to introduce new customers to their fine product. Try the Cookie Batter with vanilla/choco swirl. Good stuff! Almost as good as the Peanut Butter.
