Love the customizable rolls option. Good rice, good sushi. Didn’t like the dipping sauces that came with it, but sushi should be eaten with soy sauce anyway.

Pretty awesome place to eat lunch! Go before noon, or the line gets long. Sushi is pretty delicious for this place being so quick. You can pick whatever items you want and make a roll! First place I’ve encountered with that. Not overly expensive and they deliver!

After working downtown for two years I just and finally found a great sushi place. Delicious and reasonable. I can not say anything negative about this place. Hidden gem for sure

I think this is an amazing concept. Nothing like sushi delivered to your apartment. lol I actually ordered it and picked it up since I was passing by the location. This might not be the best options because the parking situation was terrible. I parked in a «paid for parking» spot ran my butt off grabbed my sushi ran back to my car. Aside from the parking… the sushi it self was pretty solid. I ordered a custom personalized roll which was ~$ 7. With that option you can choose your wrap, I picked Traditional(seaweed); your rice, I picked Sushi Rice; your Veggie(2), I picked Avocado, Tamago(egg omelet); your Meat(2), I picked Spicy Crab Mix, and Tempura Shrimp; your Toppings, I picked Chili Powder, Crunchy Tempura, Sesame Seed and last but not least choose your Sauces, I picked Eel Sauce, Spicy Mayo, Yum Yum Sauce(3 sauces may have been over kill lol). I called this roll the«Shoba Roll»…creative…I know. Sushi turned out great and was ready by the expected pick up time and cashier was pleasant. Overall excellent experience. Looking forward to trying and creating more rolls. :)

Ok so I want to start of my review with the fact that Rachel H. Has a very good point. The concept of On The Roll is so genius I wonder why they haven’t started branching out. Hey On The Roll your food is delicious! Paired with a concept that has been sought out by sushi lovers for too long and you’ve got money baby! Now with that being said I can move on to my review. This place has everything I look for in my ideal lunch time spot, I feel like I have won the lottery right now! Ok so as soon as you approach the ultra sleek and modern glass doors you are greeted with a «daily lunch specials» board, and a separate board informing their customers that they use locally grown produce that’s delivered fresh daily! Yay for lunch specials and double yay for supporting our local farmers as well as providing the community with the freshest produce and ingredients they can acquire. As you enter it is a bit confusing at first because every sushi place I have been to is sit down and order, this I would compare to Moe’s style but in sushi form the staff is also very helpful in explaining the process to people like myself who wander in with a baffled look on their face. Now don’t go thinking this place lacks in quality because of the way you order your dish, they definitely have brought flavor to the table! They offer an everyday and I want to say it would be their«signature special» which is one, ten piece sushi roll filled with two meats and two veggies for $ 6.95! I picked out my veggies, protein, rice, wrap and toppings. I picked out a cucumber salad and ordered egg rolls to go with my meal. All of this including a coke was $ 15.12! They have tables and you are more than welcome to eat there but I took mine Togo because the patio was filled with business hustle and bustle that I love to soak up when roaming around the downtown business district of my hometown I take a seat under a umbrella table and open my bag. The rolls were huge! Not only that but packed with flavor and the only regret I have is not being able to finish them! My cucumber salad was just as fresh and flavor packed! Personally I really appreciate a nicely crafted egg roll and theirs meets any standards I have ever held. If you are in the vicinity of rice n roll don’t let anything stop you from dropping in and checking this sushi revolution out! I know I will for sure be back in the near future. Please On The Roll, bring one of these to north tampa!

Cool place in downtown Tampa. Good sushi selection, good prices, and a daily selection of specials(which go beyond sushi). This past time I had Korean bibimbop which was excellent! Being a lunch place and at the price it was served, you don’t get the stoneware bowl that you get with a more expensive dinner, but it was tasty. Egg was overcooked for my liking, I like it when I can get a runny yolk to coat the rest of the dish.

Being in the service industry, I’m always looking for quality in staff to base my first opinion of a place. He gentleman who helped us was very informative and explained the menu very well. Being from Colorado where the sushi burrito concept is just taking off so we had yet to experience one! We ordered the Alaskan Burrito and the Pacific Rim Burrito and the Downtown Roll. Each menu item was equally delicious, you can’t go wrong. If we lived in the area, in positive that this is one place that we would frequent often!

Fast sushi is a great concept but they should offer more«labeled» roll or description of ingredients

Every single person individually warmly welcomed me when I walked in. The miso soup is the best I’ve had. The salad wasn’t special but that’s fine. The custom-made rolls? Amazing! If I lived in this area, I’d eat here every day. Since I’m only here for a week, I’ll come as much as I can!

I didn‘t like the food honestly. I eat a lot of sushi and it just didn‘t taste fresh to me. I am a tad picky about my sushi and this place just didn‘t cut it for me honestly.

I work in the same building as this place. I have ordered from there many times before and have never had an issue. Today I am on a special diet and cannot eat things like mayo, soy or rice. I asked if I could have a california roll, no rice. They said no, the roll won’t stick together without the rice. We will just put a little on top and you won’t notice. Really? So I said that I’d just had sushi the other night(without rice) and it was just fine. Can we make you a salad? NO, I WANTSUSHIWITHNORICE. Ok, fine. I took my order to go and when I got back to my desk I was ready to dig in. There was ONEBIGROLL cut on the diagonal like an eggroll. In all my sushi eating years, I have never seen this. HOW am i supposed to eat this? The next thing I noticed was that the«crab» in the califronia roll was actually«crab salad». .. again, never seen that one. So my $ 6.95 went down the drain because I can’t have mayo and I was expecting a nice little piece of imitation crab(like all of the other california rolls I’ve ever had). I salvaged the avocado and cucumber, but I’m extremely disappointed. I will NOT return here until they get new management.

I am incredibly bummed at their hours. I would come here at least a couple times a week if they were open for dinner. The concept is so genius, it is incredible it has never been made into a chain. Almost like ordering from subway, where you pick a wrap(soy or seaweed), rice(brown or white), veggies, meats, sauces, and toppings. It is exactly how you want it and while I’m sure 99% of sushi places would accommodate your desires in a roll, this is laid out expertly for a flawless lunch. My sushi chef suggested seaweed salad in my roll and it blew my mind. So so so so so so good. That is 6 «so“s. It was magical. My roll came with 10 pieces and was around $ 6. Super filling and great lunch spot. The owner was there when we came in and was incredibly friendly, and the place itself is very clean. My co workers got the rock n’ roll which was a special for $ 7 and it was enormous. They said it was delicious, and would definitely get that again.

On A Roll is open Monday to Friday from 11−2pm. It caters to the downtown lunch crowd. So it’s kinda tough to come here unless you are already downtown or want to deal with downtown parking. Having said that, if you do decide you want to come, I think it’s absolutely worth it. The concept melds Subway with Sushi. Pick your wrapper(«traditional» seaweed paper or «modern» rice paper), pick your rice(regular or brown) and then pick your fillings and toppings from a healthy list of veggies, meats/fish(cooked or raw) and toppings. This«build your own» approach is innovative because although you can do this at almost any sushi restaurant, this place makes it easy an convenient. The rolls are pretty big for $ 6.95. The place has a very modern, fast food look and is very clean. If you are new to sushi this is the perfect place to come experiment. I’m a fan.
