Let this be a forewarning that this was my first time here due to convenience. 12 dollars for a haircut? AND it’s on the way home? Sure. We were greeted nicely at the door(there WAS only one person in there at 6PM on a Tuesday.) and she told me that it would be roughly 20 dollars since I had long hair. There were a couple of things that set me off a little. 1. Conversation was little to none. Usually I like to get to know who I’m trusting to cut my hair and befriend them a little. I kept the conversation more alive than the lady did and eventually went back into the comfort of social networking on the phone. She asked me questions such as «Were do you go to school?» and«Do your parents own a business?» The second one was a little weird. Socialization isn’t for everyone and I suppose its understandable. 2. I asked for simple long layers and to cut my bangs shorter. Bangs were okay, there’s little chance that anyone can mess that part up. But the layers were very choppy than I would’ve expected.(I’ve been getting the same haircut for years now, bland, yeah, but I know what to look for by now. and I don’t like change haha) To layer my hair she used normal mini scissors instead of blending sheers that I’m used to. There was a lot of hair pulling in the process. Actually, there was a lot of hair pulling in general. My dad noted a lot of «Sorry!» «Whoops!» «My bad!» as my own thick hair was in my face and rough gestures. Also, when she cut my bangs she used the face razor that people often use to shave eyebrows with. Thought that was weird. Plus, I didn’t see a license. So, you won’t see me coming back. But for the price, I suppose I can’t complain all that much. I will probably go get it redone and cleaned up.

It’s important to note that the address to this place is 4044 W Kennedy Boulevard, Tampa, FL33609. They probably moved from the location currently listed. I’m really particular about my hair and I find it hard to find a barber that I’m comfortable with. This continues to be the case in Tampa. I’ve been only to this place about once a month since I moved here in July 2010… so about 20 times I’ve received a haircut here. There were three reasons for my first visit– 1. I had just moved to Tampa and didn’t know of a good place for a cut, 2. It was a 3-minute drive from my apartment and 3. There was a «Grand Opening» sign for a $ 10.95 cut. So I thought, «Sure, I’ll give this place a try.»(I later found out that the place had been open for over 6 months with the sign still up… I found that a little odd) So despite leaving my first visit with a less than satisfactory cut that I had to fix with my clippers when I got home, I kept returning out of sheer convenience(pun intended) . I have 3 major problems with this place: 1. I have never left with a haircut I was 100% happy with or a «Perfect Cut»(4 different women have cut my hair) 2. There’s ALWAYS only 1 person working even though there are 4 chairs.(I’ve been during all hours of business– morning, afternoon, and evening) 3. I’m not sure if other regular clientele are ever remembered and I feel like loyalty should be remembered, but I never am. I’ve been a frequent visitor for over a year and a half and haven’t been anywhere else, but I feel like it’s my first time here during every visit being asked the same«first-time» questions — Is this your first time here?(– Always get that one) Are you originally from Tampa? What do you do for a living… etc. On a side note, they have recently raised their haircut price to $ 12.95, so business must be good enough to raise the price… but as for me, I think it’s time to restart my search for someone to cut my hair.
