Its Bloody Mary season, so a run to Sav A Lot was in the cards for supplies. I don’t think you’ll find a better deal than tomato juice for $ 1.29/can, or tomatoes and green chiles for $ 0.59/can. I figured a case of tomato juice might hold us together on Friday. These are house brands, but the quality is very good, I’ve never been disappointed with anything I’ve bought here. Thanksgiving dinner fell on me this year and I made a big dent in my shopping list today. Corn, collards, potatoes, onions, celery($.69), tomatoes($.99lb), Brussels sprouts, pineapples, habaneros, sweet potatoes… hell I probably saved 30 bucks today over my usual trip to Publix. Its always worth checking their flyer for weekly specials. And as good as the produce section is, the butcher shop is even better, and again the quality is comparable to the grocery chains. Hard to beat Tyson’s chicken thighs for $.99/lb. Bring your own bags and have dinner and drinks with the cash you just saved.

This place needs more employee to keep it organize and running. Walked in just to grab some couple stuff that I needed to cook dinner. There’s only one clerk at the register and another one cleaning the vegetable area. The bar code did not work and the clerk had to go and get another pack for the stuff that I had. He doesn’t know where the item is and the bar code still does’t work. The other clerk told her the price for the item and he still does’t know how to ring it up. So the Other clerk ends up punching it for him. Just noticed that they sell plastic bags. In a way it’s good to save plastic. So if you go to this place make sure you have your recyclable bags.

All things being what they are this is a discount grocery chain. No bells and whistles. You don’t have to put $.25 in for a cart and you bag your groceries. If you don’t take your own bags they cost $.05 for a large plastic bag. I check their ad weekly as store is convient to me. I have never gotten anything bad from the store. Meat is limited, as are all items, as it is a small store. I am very picky when it comes to food! Weekly sales you can got a whole pineapple for $.99, bananas $.39, yellow squash and zucchini $.99 or a bag of apples for $.99. It all depends on the week. A few more examples canned dog food $.50, canned cat food $.38, everyday prices. This week they had beautiful boneless pork chops for $ 1.99 a pound and the same Mrs. Smith pies I saw at Pubic for $ 7.99 on sale 2 for $ 3.00. This is not a store for all your shopping, but you can sure add some great stuff for a much lower price than anywhere I have shopped. What’s a girl to do? Keep on loving fresh produce!
