T N Crab Shack

I am not very happy with my experience. I went on a Friday evening about 6pm. It wasn’t too crowded but I could tell the people there were regulars. I waited maybe 15 min. So I am a Marylander so I wasn’t expecting MD crabs but I asked for steamed with Old Bay only. They come the normal way with the butter garlic and old bay. The person sends it back without me having to say anything. I wait another couple more minutes then she called my name. I think wow fast but maybe they gave me someone else’s order. Get home and apparently they just dipped them in water and the put on more old bay. So the butter and garlic were still in the crab. The meat was mushy. It was not good at all. I did get an order of fried crabs which is the reason they got a 2. They were a step up but hardly any meat.

I enjoyed the fresh shrimp and blue crab with old bay seasoning so much, I visited them twice on my little vacation. The butter sauce is delicious! Don’t expect any frills or seating –you walk up and order from an outside window and get yo’ stuff and go. It’s definitely worth going and it’s one of the best meals that I had the pleasure of eating in Tampa. Yummy!

I ordered a medium order of crabs and shrimp… crabs were $ 14. Shrimp were $ 4. Order them with extra butter, if that’s ur thing…
And the extra garlic and butter was sooooo good.
I’d come back here. Was it my favorite crab spot… no. But def worth the trip to the hood for crab. :)

The food from this place is average but the customer service is horrid. The girl who takes the orders is ridiculously rude. Don’t bother calling to place an order for pick up because you’ll be on hold for 20+ mins all while you can hear in the background other people ordering and then just carrying on a conversation as you wait. Order in person and she will tell you to wait so she can carry on a conversation with a customer who has already ordered. Completely ridiculous. Worst customer service.

This place is very disgusting. The cooks and order takers were smoking cigarettes and we waited until she was done to place an order. Good was greasy under seasoned and overall a fail! Crab mushy corn hard… No flavor will not visit again.

For the price this place isn’t bad. I use to eat at this place years ago and I had fond memories of fried deliciousness. This place has definitely been around and has remained a neighborhood staple, But today was a stinker. Came here for lunch. I ordered the fried catfish dinner with Cole slaw and fries. Waited about 10mins and order up! Everything looked yummy but it all lacked taste. The fish was nice and flaky but lacked flavor. No old bay? Salt? Pepper? It definitely required some hot sauce. The fries were soggy and bland. Who likes soggy fries? They needed to be cooked a bit longer. Cole slaw was ehh ok. For the price you can’t beat it. The whole meal was around 5 bucks. But I would def pay a little more for a sprinkle of seafood seasoning elsewhere.

Ate here on my way to Naples. Ordered the seafood combo. It was extremely delicious!!! Showed up 10 minutes before close and still exceptional service. Definitely recommend, 5 stars!!!

Came for dinner the other night and was thoroughly impressed! We ordered 6 crabs, a catfish dinner w/​french fries and coleslaw, and a small order of chicken wings. Everything was on point. The crabs were a little smaller than I had hoped, but made up for it in flavor. They were classic garlic style that I haven’t been able to find many places outside of Florida. The fish was tasty with minimal bones, and a flavorful batter. The chicken wing sauce was delicious! Would definitely come back just for that. The outside is unassuming, but the food is definitely quality. Planning on making this a regular stop.

Let me start off by saying I was highly anticipating loving this place after reading all of the reviews, sadly I was highly disappointed. The girl at the window seemed like we had bothered her when we ordered. We ordered the fried fish, scallops, and shrimp combo and the clam strips combo. About ten minutes after ordering, the same girl who took our order, asked if we were ready to order yet? The lady cooking told her we already ordered, and then handed her our food.
The fish was seasoned nicely, and was good, but the shrimp were small and greasy, and the scallops were few, and had no taste, with the breading already falling off of them. The clam strips were very few, over cooked, and had no taste to them either. The hush puppies were dry, dense, and hard, with no flavor.
The poor customer service, bad attitude, and fail in quality and flavor will guarantee we won’t be back. Blue Sea Fish Market is close by, and has way better seafood and customer service.

I love this place! Favorite combo is the garlic shrimp and steamed blue crab (I’ve heard the crab fried is great too but haven’t tried it yet)! Everything has been great here and quick service! I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great crab!

Simply. Amazing. The food is seasoned and cooked perfectly and you cannot beat the price. The crab dinner with garlic butter was awesome (it is a bit of work though so be prepared). The hush puppies my husband couldn’t get enough of. Absolutely worth trying.

4 stars for value. 3 for my over steamed crab batch which turned the insides into mush.
A hidden jem in a somewhat bad area, TN crab shack sells affordable and delicious crabs to-​go. I got blue crabs and my boyfriend got the crab legs. My blue crabs were over steamed turning the insides into mush which I hate. It’s too bad bc it had so much potential! Boyfriend’s snow crab was much better though. He said it was some of the best crab he’s ever had! I would be back but would opt for the snow crab legs given the mushy crab meat of the blue crabs. I suspect this over steaming happens every now and then. Hopefully it will be better next time. For the price, I’d give it a few more chances!
TIP: Call in and order ahead. The area is not the best so I personally wouldn’t feel all that comfortable waiting. If you pick up, you get to skip to the head of the line.

This little shack is great! It is easy to drive past and miss. If you you like seafood then stop in… you won’t regret it. It is a grab your food and go kind of place. You get a good amount of food at a reasonable price. They have a big menu and late hours.

Love this place! I am totally hooked and must take out weekly or I have withdrawal symptoms! My last review suggested that my crabs didn’t taste as fresh as usual, but in retrospect perhaps I had an off night, because they were beyond awesome this time!
I’ve always had my blue claw crabs boiled in old bay seasoning, but here they are bathed in a butter garlic mixture. Best I’ve ever had. Plus they do most of the work, serving them already with the outside shell removed and cleaned.
Call in advance and ready in 10 minutes. I also like that the lady at the window always checks it with you before leaving.
Tonight my son had the egg rolls (!) which were large, crispy and authentic. He loved them!

Crab Shack is the place to go when your in the mood for some well seasoned seafood especially crabs! I ordered the steamed medium crab dinner meal with hush puppies and corn on the cob and I was very satisfied! The crabs were tasty and juicy! I would recommended this place. There’s no dining area, it’s just a window where you placed orders to go and pick up. The customer service was great, they explained the menu to me and everything. Oh let’s no forget the great prices! It’s not expensive at all! I would definitely recommend this place to others!

Best crabs I ever ate. Had the garlic blue crabs and washed it down with coronas. Wish I tried this place sooner.

I must say the food is good. I even enjoyed the smiling cashier who was very friendly and cordial, which I am not used to getting from other places in this area. Other ppl make you feel as if your a bother instead of a customer. My first time here, so I ordered a fish sandwich which is the mullet and the batter is light and flavorful. I had to give it 4 stars because of the area but it is getting better.
